I agree with Damo, Stu and Chris.

Despite the amazing attacking play against France in which both teams just went for it and defenders struggled in the less pressured game for 3rd place, my memory is still on the semi final and the negative tactics.
The sublime pass, move and shoot performance against a shambolic Croatia side who made Modric ashamed just emphasized how Tuchel bottled it when we were leading against our south American Nemesis in the WC. Obviously Argentina are many levels above this Croatian side.

Even against Spain, TT took off Gordon too early when he and Bellingham were outstanding and the world champions seized their chances as winners often do in sport when the opposition start to lose their belief. Aided by poor defensive mistakes.

Thomas Tuchel was going to be different from Gareth Southgate in that he was going to be bolder; that was his USP at his interview for the job. Yet when push came to shove he was found wanting.

Carpe diem; Unfortunately the day slipped away.

It's been already said that we undoubtedly would have lost to Spain in the final, but Argentina were absolutely there for the taking with the right tactical mindset.

Alex Scott out injured for up to 8 weeks is a shame, as he was very good on Saturday. Big blow for Bournemouth too.

Agree with most of these comments and it all bodes well for the next 4 years.
Only issue is that most lower level teams we come up against in competitions will have 11 men behind the ball and the ball in behind is not often on? That  is when we often struggle and end up going back to the back 4 again.  Have to hope we can still break these teams down with the quality that we have........
I think we struggle to score 7 but 1 or 2 not so much.

We were 5 minutes away from a World Cup final, people were still not happy.
The very supporters that were going balistic at the time are probably praising Tuchel now.
I was going ballistic at the time and I am even more ballistic about it now.

It is incomprehensible that we randomly just sat back and played so defensive and far removed from what we’ve been since the third place match with France
I think this is behind the change in the way we play. If we sit back and lose again the manager is finished. The defence is our weak point so better to be a front foot side and see where that gets us. Perfect we can try this approach in the Nations League rather than a major tourament.

Especially given a massive chunk of Tuchel's remit must have been "avoid sitting back after going 1-0 up v decent opponents, as that's what Eriksen/Hodgson/Southgate did for years and it's never worked".

I went to watch Ireland v Japan in the women’s rugby in Cork so missed this. When himself sent me the score I thought he was pissed!
Watched the game the following morning and bloody hell, how bad were Croatia?

I still managed to scream at the telebox at the amount of chances Saka fecked up. He seems to be going backwards 🧐

Gvardiol, like a few other Man C players, is suffering from guilty verdict shell shock .. luckily both Anderson and Guehi (after the Spain game) seem to be shock free at the moment

Great play by Coufal, lost Eze his marker and buried it, giving the keeper no chance.

He's been our most dangerous striker so far

Is it just me being in a good mood or are England playing like we have wanted them to for so long

I honestly don’t see what he brings. Hardly ever looks particularly good.
I said this to my Spurs supporting brother in law the other night and he said “He always looks good when he’s playing against Spurs”.
    😂

So many bonuses in this run - but for me Trent and Hall have nailed down their spots. And Quansah has been a revelation

The argument about Trent’s defensive abilities are negated playing this way as it doesn’t matter. Teams are terrified to push to hard on the attack front as we are so quick to get up the pitch. So what if he has a defensive lapse and someone scores the balls he delivers in attack are worth it

Insane when you think of the people to come back as well.

Always hanging over us tho is what happens if Kane gets injured

I mean, i think we look better with only anderson. Maybe the same would be true if only rice were to play as well

Why does Pickford keep twatting about with the ball at his feet?
Keeps getting closed down and has ended up rushing his kicks a few times.

This is the best period of English football I’ve seen. Really positive about the Spain game in November.

Very good performance again so far, only thing getting me is Pickford, not had much to do but makes me nervous whenever he gets the ball, always looks so erratic

This is exactly why Tuchel wanted to look at Trafford

We have so much depth across the midfield and forward 4 minus Kane.

    Full backs decent now too.

Quansah is developing at a rate of knots as well.

Have a funny feeling Anderson and Scott may end up being the way to go in midfield.
