It was only announced a couple of days ago & I'm already bored of the antics

Too many twats with massive ego's involved

& I'm still not convinced it will happen
Make Eddie and AJ right though... They've signed a contract that says Dana can't be involved. AJ has significant shares in matchroom, why would either of them dilute the brand by letting Dana/TKO have a sniff?
  • The amount of absolute bollocks being spouted by these 2 in the build (if it still goes ahead) will be utterly insane.
Stand by for 157 videos of Fury calling AJ a shithouse, dosser, bodybuilder and a sausage.

If Fury wins, im almost certain he jumps ship to Zuffa and fights Usyk.

Anyway, one week away from an actual decent Heavyweight fight; Wardley v Dubois 2.

Full of self loathing, I watched the Joey Essex v Dapper Laughs 4 round bout on the Misfits card. Essex lost all 4 rounds comfortably, yet one of the judges gave it to him 3-1 and it was called a draw. Probably the most ridiculous scoring I’ve seen.

My wife suggested we watch it last night, I didn't protest, watched about a minute of two flabby disgraceful examples of humanity swinging with feet crossing over and long story short, watched slow horses, mobland and most of East of Eden instead

I'm not naive to what misfits is but I feel phenomenally out of touch when I was looking at the fight card. I know who dapper laughs and joey Essex are, what business either of them have being in a professional boxing ring is another matter, beyond that, nope. And I'm guessing to make an event like this sell they are all big on social media, youtube or whatever but its a parallel universe.

And the home of boxing are pushing it, Anna Woolhouse, a very capable sports anchor, Kalle Sauerland, DZAN the lot, all involved in this circus on primetime tv

Anyway, Dubois v Wardley. Daniel Dubois is a bit thick as a person and a fighter, Wardley is all wrong for him, last fight was a banger and I really hope Wardley is being well paid for it as the guy truly brings everything to the party and uses his face as his defence

Just finished watching the 4 part Netflix documentary on Mike Tyson.Mike was typical of the boy who took to boxing as a way of getting out of the ghettos he lived in.Like many others he was exploited and financially ripped off.He was utterly ruthless in his hey day,but as life got complicated a very sad man appeared, his parents died young,Cus Damato his mentor died roughly the same time,he got jailed for rape, and later in life lost his 4 year old daughter. To see Mike at the end of the series shedding tears was pretty hard to take, and I must confess it was difficult not to have a lump in my throat.I think he is doing ok now and I hope the boxing world accords him the respect he earned in the ring(Holyfield exepted of course)

Yesterday was the funeral of my cousin Jimmy Revie.

Jimmy fought in the late 60's and 70's. He was the British Featheweight champion and also boxed for the European belt. He was from South East London but was unfortunatly a Chelsea fan!.

He beat Alan Rudkin and lost to Jim Watt and Ken Buchannan amongst the fights he had and was a trainer in the corner for the infamous Alan Minter and Marvin Hagler fight. His stable was the Thomas a Beckett pub in the Old Kent Road

He came from a time when boxers had to work when they finished boxing, he worked in the printing industry and for a funeral company. He passed away aged 79 with dementia caused by boxing.

    RIP Jimmy.

First saw Jimmy Revie in the ABA South east divs at Eltham baths. Johnny Clark and Mark Rowe were on the same bill.
They all turned out to go to the top.
    RIP

Wow that is going back a long time. It's nice to hear that you remember him and the other great south London boxers. Jimmy was added to the British Boxing Board hall of fame exactly 12 months ago which was really nice to see.

Serious question… where did they put the ring?

I can't remember but they used to have regular boxing shows. I know that Eltham boxing club was based there with the Atkins brothers.

They covered the pool with heavy duty boarding.

I too very well remember Jimmy - top man and a very decent boxer.

I did wonder if you knew of him 👍.

I remember as a kid watching Henry Cooper train with Jimmy at the Thomas o Becket. I still have a scrapbook of newspaper and Boxing News articles one of which compared him with Muhammad  Ali in terms of the speed of his southpaw jab (albeit about 6 stone lighter😅).

I also remember going to Manor Place Baths a few times to watch Jimmy fight as a kid. It did feel weird watching boxing there having swam in the pool whilst at school 😅

Shades of Joe Joyce coming back earlier than expected to rematch Zhang, and getting heavily bashed up.
Dubois is a knobhead, but is at least a couple of levels above Fabio, who is game as anything, but takes a lot of punishment

Should've ended the end of that first round imo. Wardley was done.

Wardley was grimacing every time he got hit, like he didn't want to be in there.

Surprised Wardley’s corner let him out for the second round TBH.

Wardley has obviously been ruined by the first fight.

Big winner from these two fights is Usyk. Makes the Dubois wins even better
