Why does this club continually seem to believe it can polish turds?

The amount we've had in for polishing over the past 4 seasons makes the mind boggle!
Shocker as football club with low budget tries to develop rough diamonds - more as we have it
Other teams in limited budget have done it. Portsmouth, Cardiff, Oxford to an extent.

We don’t recruit well, for whatever reasons we fail to attract the right players to the club
How close do you follow those teams recruitment? Because they will likely have had flops too.

If you didn’t follow our recruitment closely you’d look at players like Edwards, Ramsay, Mesík, Koumetio etc. and say we recruit well too

Problem is we have managed to fuck up recruitment in the place we needed good recruitment the most, not for the 1st time.

I remember a dark evening when NJ played Ahmed and Leaburn against Crawley a couple of years ago. Was never going to work playing 2  similar forwards and Mbick looked a fish out of water as a #10. I do wonder about NJ’s judgement of a players ability.

I do wonder about his judgement of attacking players? His record of signing defenders is a lot stronger than it is of signing attacking players.

Agreed. What we wouldn't give for a Kayne Ramsay, a Lloyd Jones, a Josh Edwards, a Conor Coventry, a Billy Koumetio, a Sonny Carey. One day maybe

You don’t think Pompey, Cardiff and Oxford have multiple flops?

Overall our recruitment is much better than it has been for a long time and a big reason we got promoted and stayed up.

The defensive recruitment has been excellent, it’s not a surprise the midfield and attacking side hasn’t when those players are more expensive and NJ wants fit players who can run a lot on top of their attacking qualities.

Can you list all of Oxford, Portsmouth and Cardiff’s transfers over the last few years?

    Lets do a comparison.

So if our recruitment has been worse then areas like our tactics and coaching must be a lot better than theirs to make up for it, as we’re competing with them, not stranded at the bottom?

If someone compares similar clubs I think we’d find the success rate isn’t all that different.

Potts, Campbell, Lua Lua and Hernandez were all short term punts and were suitably released at the earliest opportunity. Ouma was also a punt, hence why he was signed on loan with an option to buy. So that leaves Apter, Knibbs and Olaofe.

And knibbs was a great save away from scoring yesterday. Only really leaves Olafe and apter as flops (mostly likely due to attitude of both).

The difficulty in any debate here is that we forced out Doc

I don't think Doc was necessarily forced out by Ouma. Skipp was signed after the Chalobah injury, after Ouma was signed and before Doc was released.

Semantics. Whether Skipp and/ or Ouma, the decision was they are better than Doc. I’m finding that a bit hard to reconcile presently

But we had to gamble on finding a midfielder who is better than Docherty. I'm not sure Skipp is much better, but he's also not worse.

I hope not as I imagine he costs quite a lot more

None of them can. I would say that is a definition of a flop.

I don't believe JRC was signed to play as the 10, he's played there this season because he isn't mobile enough to play as a 6

No, everything is purely guesswork but NJ's comments defintiely suggest something has gone on

Kenya's last game was on the 5th October and he was not even on the bench!
That being the case what has he been upto, other than having a glorified holiday?

    Ouma went AWOL twice before.
The most likely scenario was he would do it again at the first opportunity and he did.

We look so far away from having a 20 goal striker
