I am going to say it!! Yes I am, Nathan Jones......................

I expect to turn up to a team that have shipped 9 goals in the last 2 games and not play 8 defensive players and actually attack them, and that isn’t just this game either we’ve been so poor for the last couple of months, playing the same atrocious football every weekNabySarr said:

Exactly. Remove Jones and we still won’t have a midfield capable of progressing the ball, and we still won’t have anyone of the right hand side that’s any good. The manager isn’t the problem hereFishCostaFortune said:

Not saying Jones tactics or management are helping, but who seriously thinks anyone is going to really do any better with what we have?
Again not defending Jones but we have to face up to the reality that our squad, for this level, is so so poor.Thats what the budget we have has given us.I honestly don’t see anyone coming in and being able to change that.
But I’ve also got the ability to look past the person and realise that our issues are far deeper than him.
Shame others just seem to kid themselves that everything would all of a sudden be different/better.
I think your abit deluded if you don’t think the manager is the problem7 -
What did you expect the team who have shipped nine goals in two games to do? - Roll over and let their tummies continue to be tickled or try and show up themselves? - This is the thing when you try and go in with your plan ("actually attack them" , whatever that means), as the other team will have their own plan tooFAVADDICK said:

Third season on the trot where we find ourselves on a bad run, immediately the usual suspects rush to make a call that has ultimately made them look stupid these last two years - Potentially a chance they might be right this time around, but I'd still be hesitant to avoid looking stupid a third time.8

He talks about preserving with 13 or 14 players. That’s half your fucking squad.
He’s ran out of ideas1 -

Ok so we are now 8 League games without a win which is the worst run (Winless games) under Nathan Jones as manager of Charlton AthleticNorwich at home and Middlesbrough away to come next before the end of this month0

Happens every year. Just waiting for someone to say "It's not my job to find his replacement" as if it is their job to sack himNabySarr said:

They won’t sack him as they have no one in charge or would want to stand up and take the responsibility to do that deed1

Gary Rowett would be my guess as next Charlton ManagerNabySarr said:

I don't think the managers the problem the squad, particularly midfield is very poor and thats because we have netto budget.1

If Jones goes, who is a REALISTIC choice? Scott Parker won't go for it and don't wanna hear Curbs.

Give me SCP , at least I would still have someone to love whilst being shit rather than thinking I’ve never liked you even when we were good .
there was a Burnley fan Nescafé waving at the telly today saying swing on the dugout now Jones’s boy , in the words of all fans ‘Nathan Jones your football is shite”4 -

Hoff Thorup, Cifuentes, Gerrard, Parker, SCP, Andy Woodman, Bowyer, JJ (last one I personally wouldn’t be so keen on).NabySarr said:

Possibly only Preston are worse than us. We have a poor squad and a manager who today seemed completely clueless. We are embarrassing to watch.
Relegation a definite possibility.5 -
Exactly what I was thinking, who would I have a straight bet that we’d finish above this season and that’s the only team I’d back us over , I’d fancy all the rest to finish above ushoof_it_up_to_benty said:Possibly only Preston are worse than us. Trouble is we have tried to evolve this summer on little to no budget, not bought a RW or a decent 10 in to create. Our budget is low and the decent footballers in those positions often don't want to play for an NJ team (see Galbraith last summer).
He has been our best manager for years, he has also been our only manager for years who has been properly backed with his entire back office team, scouting /Director of football and not an insignificant sum of £ on transfers.
Have Lincoln; Cardiff or Bolton spent anywhere near what we did last summer (I have not checked so genuinely don't know). We have wasted far too much ££ and whilst our transfers have bought us promotion and kept us up, how many could we sell for a profit (or anything at all) that didn't come through our youth team.
The football is turning fans away, the poor transfer return is almost certainly turning out owners away.
I don't know what the answer is.1 -
So still no one that is realistic and better than Jones thenMaking_all_the_noise said:

For me, the squad is fine. For the most part, we defend well and cancel teams out. Midfielders are okay but very samey in how they play, wingers are decent and quick and out strikers, with better service, can nick a few goals. We should be a scary counter attacking team for the physicality and pace we actually have but if I'm honest they aren't being utilised correctly.
Those samey midfielders should be winning the ball and spraying out wide into the space for our wingers to get on to then getting up the pitch themselves, pick up the ball and recycle again to keep momentum but they are so far back at the moment and so close to our defensive like that as soon as the oppo pick the ball in the space between strikers and midfielders, oppo have space to play through our defence on the counter.

Anyway - at present, something has to change.
Football is competitive sport. It is about competing and ultimately winning football matches. Or at least trying your best and seeing if you CAN win a football match.
At present, the equilibrium in the club is all off. We are not competing or even trying to.
We are merely existing. That in itself is then leading to a massive loss of enthusiasm amongst the fanbase. Attendances dropping off, hospitality bookings down, sentiment online massively more negative than it has been for a while.
We need a reset and actually go out with a spirit to win games.
Case in point.... 1998 we got relegated from the prem but at no point did it feel like we were anything other than joined together from boardroom to pitch to stands.
It is all completely wrong at the moment.5 -
Don't think any of the newly promoted sides will have spent quite as much , Lincoln pocketed £4m for Moylan and reinvested that, Moylan was Cardiff's main signing and Bolton seem to have a ragtag mix of loans and freebies, no really substantial fees - no one over a million there.Athletico Charlton said:Trouble is we have tried to evolve this summer on little to no budget, not bought a RW or a decent 10 in to create. Good to see the majority of fans are still backing him5 -
I wonder if Jones' decision to push Docherty out has pissed off some of the players and they are no longer fully behind him despite all "the dressing room is great" stuff we always get.
We all know Doc wasn't the greatest but he gave 100% every game and was obviously very popular. Maybe a few of the players are thinking you don't treat people like that in the way Jones did and have reacted accordingly.
And the fact he pushed Doc out to bring in Skipp is laughable.1 -
We are free fall, NJ tactics aren’t helping and needs to give his head a wobble, the biggest issue is our ownership have thrown him under the bus and don’t have the appetite for us anymore.0

My thoughts exactly. Lip service for the fans. £1.5m net spend. Enough said.fenaddick said:
