Further to this, I couldn’t believe the lack of fight in our team to question that shocking disallowed goal decision. You could tell at the time there was nothing wrong with the goal but barely any of our players questioned it and just seemed to accept it straight away. It was a disgraceful decision and they should have gone mad about it (and you never know, the ref have been forced to go over and consult with the Lino as a result)Fanny Fanackapan said:

Ultimately this.se9addick said:Shuffle the pack however you like, the players simply aren’t Championship level and neither will we be next season.2 -
Grant for all his experience at this level looks terrible. The recent injuries may be taking their toll, but he’s looked pretty slow for me and very ineffective on the ballCafcSteve said:We were second best for 85% of the game.
Kelman, TC & Billy were the only one’s to play well.
Coventry & Grant were shocking.
Coventry just isn’t a Championship player. You will recall how Jones dropped him during our bad run last season and opted for Coady as it was clear he just wasn’t up to it. I didn’t mind having him around this season, but he should’ve been back up to someone else, not starting every single game
That central midfield is a huge problem for us.Ramsay also had a shocker from the moment he gave the ball away for their equaliser. Jones also didn’t play well. All in all a dismal outlook as we see in the official start of shorter days and longer nights with the clock going back and it pissing down today5 -

They showed a stat on TV, that in a 15 minute spell around/after their equaliser goal, Norwich had 136 successful passes to our 7! All this from a team devoid of form.Dugdaleclass said:Charlton, the gift that keeps giving. For you if you are a struggling opposition manager that is.
Norwich looked very ropey for the first 15 minutes and a good press led to an excellent finish by Kelman. But then....nothing. It was like watching the air escaping from a fast deflating balloon.
Norwich suddenly found the home team backing off them and playing deep. The visitors enjoyed the next 30 minutes with 90 per cent of the possession. Oh, and the Charlton defense tired itself in knots allowing Coventry to play their winger onside and guide him into the box so he could score his first goal of the season.
The second half saw more attacking intent from Charlton once we had gone 2-1 down and TC was threatening and Kelman was getting chances. The offside decision was poor and took the wind out of our sails and the third goal killed the game.
With us being at home as well.

In his post-match reaction Nathan has dumped it on the players. Yes the Board has not supported the team, yes they played very badly (outside of the first 20) and yes Norwich are a very good side in a false position but there was light-years between the tactics, movement and plan of play between the teams which is down to him. Before their first goal it seemed like they played nearly 50 passes together without a Charlton kick. Triangles, players running off each other, quality control. We had stopped our big press which had forced Charlie's goal, but that was Norwich's style of play - each player knew it and it was obvious they had been closely coached to do carry it out. Charlton simply do not have any set up remotely like that. There is no obvious plan and whenever we get the ball the player hardly knows what to do with it. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the quality of players and board support, to have professional players in this league who have no set basis on which to play is an absence of management/coaching. He won't say it of course, but that is the harsh reality which has been staring everyone in the face.6

Just looking through the match thread and saw this classic one from our good friend @ForeverAddickted
This is the best refereeing display I've seen in a long time... What's he gonna do to fuck that statement up?
Hmm, think I can think of something.!!2 -
But then how much would we lose by being relegated?TheHerminator said:Not sure the owners will want to pay him off to leave to be honest. Wasn’t it a 4 year contract?
I feel as low as I have for a while with the club at the moment. We have no identity and no backbone.2 -
I said last week that it is getting hard to defend Jones and after today I can find no defence.
We can only play half decent football for 15/20 minutes every game. The oppo manager susses us out and they move on to plan B and play us off the park.
We do not have a plan B, C or D to change a game. We ran around like rudderless, headless chickens for the last twelve minutes or so.
That is down to Jones.
I am in the time to go camp now.
He survived on a wing and a prayer last season, that isn't going to work this season.

Straight after the play off final (in the fan zone ?) didnt NJ say the owners had millions to spend, or something like that.Blucher said:That was about as dispiriting as it comes. Other than a good first 20 minutes and decent performances from Campbell and Kelman, there were no real positives.
We are heading inexorably into a relegation dogfight. In fairness to Nathan Jones, what could any manager realistically do with this squad ? Poor recruitment has put us in big trouble - in summer 25, we signed 4 League 1 men who have failed to step up, plus Rankin-Costello and Kaminski; last summer, the owners declined to put their hands in their pockets and spent only £1.5 million net, including spunking £1 million on Ali, presumably on the misguided assumption that TC was off. The owners clearly have no appetite for what is required in this division..The problem since our League 1 promotion season has been the midfield, but all Jones got this summer was two underperforming loanees, one of whom has apparently done a bunk.

It is really concerning once we go a goal the mindset straight away is shut up shop. I have no clue if thats the players or tge management but its shocking. Next week is another loss but after that the next 2 games are must win or we are fucked2

Lloyd Jones won the short straw man of the match today and you could see he hated every minute of it .

To be clear this ownership have spent multiple millions. Charlton is a money pit, and not one that brings any joy.golfaddick said:

ken_shabby said:A couple of positives. Billy looks a hood signing and Kelman showed he should have been playing before.
After that its hard to single out mistakes as it was just a second rate team being cleaned out by a slightly better one who lost their last five.
The worst is Jones just seems to be flinging average players on atbrandom in the hope something clicks. Next week could be desperate - Boro know where the goal is.
Do not watch their goals at Bolton last night, it will make you cry.

NJ is a major part of the problem - would you trust him with another say, £10m? It’s not just home, its Chapple and the backroom too.golfaddick said:

Today, after scoring, we allowed Norwich to take over and that is the main reason why we lost.
Terrible game management, tactics and general team shape.
NJ is not up to it based on what I am watching every week6 -
I thought we looked quite good today, even when we went behind. At 2-1 down we attacked them & nearly scored from the deflection (for other teams that would have gone in- ala Mesik). The resulting corner should have made it 2-2 if it wasn't for a linesman with superhuman eyesight that could see that Kelman was an inch offside from 30 yards away._uptheaddicks said:

I think that disallowed goal knocked the stuffing out of us & once the 3rd went in it was game over.
The worrying thing is that in the past we wouldn't lose once we went in front. Although doing a "golfie" is usually beyond us the opposite has been true over that time- that once we are ahead we invariably go on to win, or draw at worst - esp at home.
To lose 3-1 at home after taking the lead is very rare for us. If this starts to become the norm we are in deep trouble. Those next 2 home games could make it break our season.....and Jones tenure. The international break comes after those 2 games and I think the owners will give him until then. Anything less than 4 points from the next 3 games then I feel its goodnight Jonesey - and even 4 points isnt really enough.7 -

I don’t disagree with any of that, but the point I was replying to was the inference that the ownership hadn’t spent millions. They have. The truth is a) our income is not sufficient these days for the Championship because we fail to generate enough commercial revenue, and, b) whatever has been spent has been spent pretty badly.Fanny Fanackapan said:

Frustration is something we are getting used to.
Where do you put the blame, owners not spending more?
NJ picking wrong team and tactics?
Players not playing well or not good enough?
I thought NJ at last picked an attacking team although I did not agree with a couple of choices. Edwards is not fit enough to start and Grant has had enough chances.
When we scored I honestly thought we had cracked it but then the Players looked like they thought we had already won.
As I said last week, our passing is terrible and when will we start winning 50/50 balls again?
What do we practice in training?
I am still optimistic, I do not know why0 -
Guess we are annoyed but NO way that goal should have been given offside. Looks fine and the replay on Sky does too. Not a single Norwich player protested.6
