‘Be Ready’ campaign - just in case

The loss of human life occurring in the East of Ukraine is abominable. I know the same can be said of any conflict currently taking place. Something that adds an extra dimension maybe is how visible and the volume of footage available
Anyway
Canned food is immortal, batteries are helpful, candles don't go out of date3 -
Does "being ready" mean buying up all the long life milk....😡
A little pleasure of mine that I have been observing for years - I like a carton of long life milk & some chocolate whilst watching the football /golf/ cricket over the weekend.
Today Sainsburys were sold out of all their branded long life milk (semi skimmed & full fat) as well as another cheaper one they sell. 3 shelves full. Usually there are boxes of the stuff. All that was left were a few cartons of skimmed and some Organic stuff at 3x the price !!!
Fucking preppers & panic buyers !!
I hope that when the plague / 3rd world war / internet meltdown doesn't happen in the next 6 months (because thats the shelf life) that they all choke to death trying to drink it all.

Many supermarkets across Europe have had their freezers hacked again, resulting in large quantities of frozen and chilled food being discarded. Attacks can take many forms, so being prepared is a good idea.1

Sorry, just saw something about this on the BBC news yesterday.fenaddick said:
Guesswork here but I suppose that’s how quickly they’d hope to be able to mobilise the needed services and fix issuesArsenetatters said:So why 3 days worth? Who picked that number and why?
I was in the UK last week until yesterday but heard nothing about it.
What issues are we talking about? War? Drought? On the news they were talking about flooding but we’ve hardly had any rain. What is this really about?
I personally think they know that AI is getting out of control and in the event will shut everything down.
What ’services’ would be needed to ’fix issues?'0 -
No, they don’t. Otherwise there would be sightings of huge arms coming out of the sky.AndyG said:

What we should all agree on is that we are in a very real state of peril for the world, there are a few individuals ( Im sure we all know who they are ) that literally hold the world in their hands and are playing a high stakes game which effect every living thing. How we got to this point is beyond me and I doubt there is anything that anyone can do about it2 -

Putin cares as much for his own people as he does Ukranians. Remember Russia lost about 3 million souls in WW1 and north of 20 million in WW2. Russian lives do not figure highly in the minds of their own regime.cafcnick1992 said:Why would Putin attack anyone else beyond Ukraine? The fact he is struggling in Ukraine is already embarrassing for him, and the Russians are losing a lot of men to the extent that they're drafting in people from the DPRK.
I don't think that strategy would do him any favours.2 -
I honestly hope these companies start having back ups instead of completing relying on computers to run everything?
As well as us having emergency stashes surely they must start having a plan b?4 -

Of course it does, sadly usually in the form of the opposition...EugenesAxe said:

“The unthinkable has happened! Our refrigerators and freezers were hacked overnight, and the temperature was set to 50°C. We are deeply sorry and are working tirelessly to discard the spoiled products and get everything back up and running.”Following a cyberattack targeting nearly 700 stores in France, on the night of October 11–12 then a second one of more limited scale the following day; several European countries were, in turn, affected during the night of November 1st to 2nd.
When they say ’cyberattack ’ what we don’t know is who is doing it. Some might say it’s the Russians. I say it’s the beginning of direct attacks from AI.1 -
I thought it was AI as well after a cyber security company spokesman for the blood Bank that got hacked was asked questions on this and all they can say it's not criminals due to no responsibility taken and no ransom asked so it's more political but with no real direct reasoning. They suspect the likes of Russia or a very hard wing political group but still odd. Annoying that the journalist didn't ask him if he thought it was AI.1

Also wonder where all these bomb threats are coming from...1

Just out of interest, when all this takes place and we have no phones, does anybody on here have an amateur radio licence?
