I was trying to find that quote where Jones said he didn't join a league one club, he joined Charlton and I noticed this.

Bit off topic, but it reads a bit like a bit of a back handed compliment? 😂

You can read it that way, but I think it’s clear he meant: “wasn’t big enough [a name] for Southampton [fans] but I’m big enough for Charlton [fans]”. He was speaking to delusions around Southampton and those delusions of grandeur resulting in not accepting his vision for how he wanted them to play. And that we are accepting of him because we’re better grounded.

At the right point in time he is on record as wanting to manage a side he loves, just don’t think this is that moment for a multitude of reasons. If Cardiff had stayed in the Championship and us in League One I would be more concerned.

I for one can’t wait for our 1st signing to be announced so we can all start arguing about that rather than pages of this bollocks !!!

FFS Jones isn’t going anywhere!! He might be mental but he ain’t that mental

If there's really nothing in this rumour, I reckon either the club or NJ himself should make an appropriate press statement without further delay.

If it's true, God help us.
Don't think they really need that at the moment..
They're all on a well deserved break and probably not thinking about anything football related.
    We'll have to wait.
Depends how many season tickets they want to sell.

    This!!
There is an interview where he gives a longer answer about it. He says, looking back, that some of the players didn’t think he was a big enough name and wouldn’t hear what he was trying to say. It was replicated by some of the fans and it just became an unfortunate period.

    Did you get that from:
"Still Buckingham for me, especially if we’re looking at £1m just to get Jones through the door.
Whoever the manager is though I’ll back them 100%. Just hope the hierarchy keep to any promises they make"
I'm also checking thier forum and that's all I could find.

Asked my Welsh football group chat about Abbandonato's pedigree as a journo and got this back. He's been dismissed in that chat before as well. So I'd take anything he's saying with pinches of salt

Buckingham is an excellent appointment tbh. As long as Tan doesn't start meddling again they should be right up there.

    Dated yesterday?

If true, and Plymouth were making a move for Buckingham, the Jones rumour was started to pressure Buckingham into signing a contract at Cardiff.

Edit: Yep, just seen their forum. This was before the Jones rumour.

I hope so, but this was posted after the picture shared above:
"Not going to bother replying to most people on this thread now.
I was told what I was in good faith and I posted it on here.
I stand by that it's true. Sounds like there's a delay because of the Jones possibility."
Would seem they do infact want Jones, but maybe not optimistic around landing him?

I will only believe it is true when “ Jones seen in Lidl Cardiff, buying a trumpet and an arc welder, and a jar of beetroot “ floats out on Cardiff forum.
Unlikely.   The trumpet deal was last Sunday week.

Can’t be too many left anywhere, let alone Cardiff.

Can currently get 8/1 on Buckingham, if it was that close the odds would definitely be shorter

Not necessarily, if enough people are lumping on Jones then Buckingham's odds will stay longer than they should

Jones leaving would be a disaster for both him at Cardiff and us..
He said last week we are already 3 weeks behind. Sorting out compensation and recruiting a new manager would take weeks and weeks.
Cardiff need to act quickly for the same reason. They've been without a permanent manager since late April.
They need to get a new manager in ASAP so they can identify and bring in the players he wants.
Don't forget Jones wouldn't be afforded the free hit he got with us in his first half season. Cardiff and especially Tan will expect results and quickly.
I really don't thinks Jones will see the worth in it at this very moment.
This is the only thing that worries me about the speculation. Why haven’t they appointed someone sooner? They have had enough time and all the other candidates seem to be out of work. Our season finishes and rumours surface Jones is in the frame. If they were not interested surely they’d have appointed someone else by now.
