Premier League 25/26

The “World Champions” boast really irritated me earlier in the season because of how meaningless, self-satisfied and plastic it is.
Now I find it amusing because their current plight and the anger of their fans highlights how inconsequential an achievement it was.

Hope so....Leeds/ Southampton final.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Surely he gets sacked this week now. If they go into the weekend with him in charge they're basically throwing away the cup semi final.1 -
Dont fear Chelsea fans, no doubt you'll raise your game and turn into 1970s Brazil in a couple of weeks just in time for the return of Dr Tottenham to the bridge. FFS.6

Read a stat before the game - they have been outran by their opponents in every game this season. Not sure if it was just league games, but dreadful either way.lordromford said:Jesus wept.
Interview with Chalobah was painful viewing. Like a sullen teenager. Mumbling incoherently then saying “yeah” despondently.
Best bit was when he claimed the players “ran their socks off” and the interviewer pointed out that Brighton outran them by some distance, so no, they didn’t.
Hilarious.
I hope they keep Rosenior forever.
I was watching Sky when those stats came up but as Chelsea has won 13 Games and lost 12 in the Premier this season I'm slightly baffled as the losing team did most of the running on 13 occasions when Chelsea won !
Captain Docherty is a great runner for CAFC but he doesn't always control the ball or make a successful pass so he may out run his opponent but the midfielders in the Championship usually are better on the ball than us !
Only watched the 30 minutes highlights late last night as Oxford v Disney came first and Brighton were excellent and Chelsea were lucky to only concede 3.
They were missing James and Palmer big time even though Palmer is suffering in this poor spell for Chelsea.
The Chalobah interview was painful and he must've drawn the short straw. Seeing players struggling to string 2 words together isn't a great watch.
I personally feel that the players are missing Enzo Maresca who was bizarrely sacked despite beating PSG on the 13th July 2025 to win the FIFA world club final. I have never enjoyed these tournaments which is FIFA milking to get more money out of the Football cash cow.
Crazy decision by Blueco to sack Maresca who was highly respected by the squad.

1. Disney lose in the playoff final
2. Rosenior sacked and he cries
3. W/Ham or Spurs down (nothing personal, really like your contributions on here)1 -
In that case why do we keep talking about Palace and Millwall?EugenesAxe said:

There was me thinking this was a Premier league thread and as Chelsea got spanked last night it seemed apt to talk about that odious club.
John boy, many of us on CL like Spurs and it is perverse but the majority want them to be relegated despite the fact you will win the Championship and Moore will be your top scorer.
It might be a wake up call for all teams that think they are a top 6 Premier team but the warning signs were there last season.
Spurs were my favourite Premier team before Harry and Son left. 😩0 -
I think they'll win the championship at a canter next seasonMarcusH26 said:Be interesting to see what happens with Wolves now they're relegated. Feels like the owners have got a bit bored and it's not really a squad that I would expect to bounce back. Signing Adam Armstrong in Jan was pretty much an admittance they knew they were down.

Got a bit of a blind spot for Millwall, always have, can they both lose?Chris_from_Sidcup said:

People like spurs? 🤨0

Not really, Spurs in serious danger of doing a Leicester for me. Players who clearly don't give a shit, infrastructure all set up for Premier League which won't necessarily work out so well in the Championship, a large percentage of fans who are more bitter and annoyed than supportive.bobmunro said:Croydon said:

They might not go Full Leicester and get relegated again (in fact almost certainly won't) but they will struggle at least at first I think.2 -
Ipswich, Southampton and Leicester were relegated from the PL last season. One of those is already on its way to L1. The other two have had stop start seasons by are in ‘play off’ spots atm. It’s possible their could still both go up, it’s also possible they both won’t. If they don’t do up then I’d guess they probably will have financial issues to deal with next season that will take precedence over strengthening the squad for another promotion chasing campaign unless they can offload one or two players at decent pricesEugenesAxe said:

Wolves and Spurs were shit last season as well so not sure why anyone thinks they will be nailed on to turn things around and challenge in the Championship next season. This is a tough division.letthegoodtimesroll said:

The final PL table for the season before that. Burnley obviously ‘bounced back’ but Luton went down to L1 and Sheff Utd are still in the Championship

Anyone who thinks Spurs wouldn't go straight back up is crazy. Of course they will lose players and have to reshape their squad but they will be able to massively outspend the rest of the division.
This is a division that has Millwall in an automatic promotion spot with 2 games to go, and people think Spurs wouldn't go up, seriously?4 -
Spurs would have to drastically rebuild their squad for the Championship, whereas a team like Burnley already have a Championship promotion squad.
An interesting decision for Burnley over Parker. Parker had a poor season in the PL, but has an excellent track record in the Championship and is the sort of manager you'd hire to get you promoted!1 -
Are the fans still singing about wanting their Chelsea back? This is always cracks me up when they do. The version that was funded by Russian blood money and making illegal payments to cheat the system or the middling version that Ken Bates bought for a quid? Wanky club and wanky fans.5

Genuinely not sure how Chelsea are going to manage without Champions league money. Their finances are pretty fucked and they've surely run out of things to sell to themselves.AllHailTheHen said:Are the fans still singing about wanting their Chelsea back? Liam Rosenior lasted about as long as a virgin in bed with Michelle Keegan.
Chelsea is a total circus.3 -
Apparently Naglesmann has already said he isn't interested in taking the Chelsea job post WC.0
