The "confusion", on my part, is that you are talking as if it's an absolute certainty ("will see us relegated"), rather than just an opinion. But last time I looked at the table we were outside the relegation zone and there's still a lot of games to be played.Braziliance said:
The way we are playing and have been playing has convinced me we are are going down with Wednesday and either Oxford or Pompey. Not sure what the confusion is to be fair mate.Off_it said:

Feel like this is excusing the recruitment. There is no way there wasn't players available for similar or slightly bigger fees than what we signed.NabySarr said:

Probably help if we could sign some midfielders who can pick a pass. He would probably thrive in a possession based side.Callumcafc said:
The finish was excellent and really well taken. I do think the Oxford CB let him roll far too easily - the ball travelled a fair distance (in elite level terms) between Kelman's first touch and his shot. Rowett would've been very disappointed in the defending.gringo said:

let’s just say it was ‘Maradona like’ an be done with it!
The exciting thing is that that's there's been two occasions that I can truly remember Kelman getting space in the penalty area and both times he's scored. The trick is going to be figuring out how to get him that space against more accomplished opposition on a regular basis.
Our midfielders most of the time look terrified of the ball.
If we try and become a possession based side with one of the lowest budgets in the league we will end up 24th. We have to play a different way to compete
I don't expect us to be a budget Barca, but I do expect Charlton midfielders to be able to keep the ball and look comfortable with it enough to pick a pass. You don't need to spend tens of millions to achieve this.
Luckily we won't finish last for obvious reasons, but this playstyle will also see us relegated as we have key players injured and we don't score enough goals. A tweak is needed in the formation, and some players to go with it.
There simply has to be a better midfielder available than Greg Docherty as a prime example, for a relative fee. It's a travesty we went into this season with him as captain and expecting to start games when we must have known he couldn't cut it at this level.
We have a horrible run of games after tomorrow, and I can't see us picking up more than 6 points from it the next 8 or so after Pompey.
Our playstyle is terrible to watch, has been since Ipswich away. We have no player who can flip a game on it's head, and we aren’t defending anymore like we did for the first 8 games or so.
Just as I said last season, it's great when you are winning, but it's painful to watch when you are not.
What I expect from this team is desire, effort and relentlessness. We aren't really offering any of those currently. Teams are stronger, fitter, and have more skill than us.
We sit 22nd for goals scored, 21st for big chances created, 23rd for ball possession, 24th for accurate passes per game, 22nd for accurate long balls (when we are a long ball side), 20th for total shots per game, 21st for shots on target per game, 24th for succesful dribbles per game, 19th for tackles per game, 18th for interceptions per game, 24th for corners per game, 2nd for fouls per game, and so on.
The writing is on the wall. Tomorrow we will witness two of the worst footballing sides in the league go head to head, like we have witnessed for the last 3 games, and we pretty much have to win.
You may well end up being correct. But supporting Charlton for many years has taught me that nothing is ever certain. I just find all of this white flag waving more than a bit premature. But I'm happy to let you crack on.8 -

I thought before a ball was kicked we were probably down, our window and promising start gave me some false hope, now reality feels like it is setting in.
I have a 9 hour round trip to Portsmouth tomorrow, and I genuinely have about 10% confidence we can get a win. Just venting at my disappointment.
If we do go down, it will be fkn tragic when you consider the quality of the teams down here and the fact there's a guaranteed slot gone.
Anyway, to get back on track, I hope Kelman scores tomorrow.5 -

All the whilst we struggle to score goals and in particular our strikers not finding the net, it's been inevitable we'd slide down the table.0

We were doing ok, until we started letting in goals.only need 1 goal to win if we keep a clean sheet, all depends how you look at it. the new modus operandi on YouTube now is to give the algorithm an extremely focussed micro-niche to deliver your content to, reckon Brazilliance could try being a harbinger of doom, reckon that'll find most Charlton supportersSword65pf said:

But I'm happy to let you crack on.
Anyway, to get back on track, I hope Kelman scores tomorrow.

Will certainly pick up a few stragglers on here!!EugenesAxe said:
the new modus operandi on YouTube now is to give the algorithm an extremely focussed micro-niche to deliver your content to, reckon Brazilliance could try being a harbinger of doom, reckon that'll find most Charlton supportersSword65pf said:
Flipping hell mate, you’re not getting many more subscribers with that doom and gloom!!!!! C’mon get ya self together and have some faith, we want plenty of, fuckin hells and get in there’s on the blog tomorrow!!😜Braziliance said:
Well if we carry on as we are, we will get relegated, the form table backs it up.Off_it said:

He did thrive in a possession based side last season, that’s why I was confused why we signed him because he doesn’t really fit usBraziliance said:
Probably help if we could sign some midfielders who can pick a pass. He would probably thrive in a possession based side.Callumcafc said:
The finish was excellent and really well taken. I do think the Oxford CB let him roll far too easily - the ball travelled a fair distance (in elite level terms) between Kelman's first touch and his shot. Rowett would've been very disappointed in the defending.gringo said:

I gathered it was based on something like that, but other than it being Christmas and him being American.. why??EugenesAxe said:1 -

Looks a little bit like him aswell tbf0

Two goals and an assist in his last five matches. In the eight matches he missed through injury, we had one win, one draw and six defeats. We are a better team with him in the side.

He's such a work horse... It was a little less evident pre-injury, but his effort seems much clearer to see since his return4

Won’t get the assist but his work for the goal is exactly what we’ve been missing8
-
If any of our other forwards were of his quality, we'd be in a much healthier league position.5
-
And QPR fans didn't think he was up to this level , think that fee is going to look like money well spent at the end of the season. Just need to figure out the right partner for him.8
-
He was terrific today, just needs someone with any ounce of strikers instinct next to him.3

Very very good footballer. It’s probably a good thing he hasn’t got headline stats this season as it means we can get a full season with a proper pre season next year. In whatever league we are in.
Have no doubt if the worst happened he would fire us to promotion.2 -
Played well today, but really needs Godden, Carey or Costello bombing into the box when he receives the ball up there.1
-
No issues with the Kelman business. He’s improving and showing his worth to the side.
Been impressed with him recently and definitely think he can be what Godden was to us in the championship.6 -
looking very confident and all round game
much better.
can tell he’s either been told, or told himself, to get more shots off as he is shooting at every opportunity which is good but his shooting is a bit pathetic, couple of occasions when he would have been better to look for something else but I’m splitting hairs, happy with what I’ve seen of him lately and looking like a proper pairing with Leaburn0 -

Get a proper Pre-Season in Slovenia in him... and he might even start turning unwanted headsGot to remember he was attracting Premier League scouts when he was at Southend, would love to see him and Godden start together5

Absolute quality footballer. Build a team around him. Some sublime passes today.2
