What's not to say they won't smash the place up anyway?MartinCAFC said:
And this is what it will always come down to. Arrest and ban those who cause trouble instead of taking the easy way out.Henry Irving said:Spoke to one of the directors about this who said that it was out of the club's hands and a police decision they weren't happy about.
Police rationale was if the Spanners were kept in they'd smash the place up and/or fight the old bill.
In case you want to let the crowd go the museum will be open after the game.7 -
I’d be surprised if they don’t stop people doing that otherwise you could just cut back into Charlton Church Lane to get to the station without going down Woolwich Road.Covered End said:

Relax and enjoy the mayhem and general stupidity of the authorities! Much better for the heart. Nothing you can do about it!

After the game I would say a fair few of Charlton and Wall will be heading into town for the Tommy march …2

Charlton get a mention 😮0 -
Millwall seem to make a far better effort on communicating with their fans about tomorrows arrangements than CAFC, why is this?

Because they're not totally embarrassed by the decision, maybe?clive said:Millwall seem to make a far better effort on communicating with their fans about tomorrows arrangements than CAFC, why is this?

On a serious point, someone needs to make sure the level crossing is properly marshalled/policed. I seem to remember last time this happened that the coppers on the ground didn't even know there was a level crossing down the road they were telling everyone to go down!6

Probably more used to things like this. Agree really poor comms from the club thoughclive said:Millwall seem to make a far better effort on communicating with their fans about tomorrows arrangements than CAFC, why is this?

They knew someone would have to give & knew good little 'ole Charlton would comply meekly.ElfsborgAddick said:
What has this got to do with the policing of our game?Lincsaddick said:I believe there is a MAJOR anti immigration march taking place in central London tomorrow and trouble is expected.
O B will be very stretched and I suppose keeping the fabs as far apart as they can, for as long as they can is a way of ensuring that there is as little trouble as possible.
Arsenal, Palace, Fulham (v Leeds), West Ham (v Spurs) and Brentford are all at home tomorrow, busy time for O B
I wouldn't be surprised to see Essex, Surrey, Kent etc. Police patrolling London tomorrow2 -
If the OB want to get rid of the spanners quickly, then the trains need to run and this will close off the level crossing. This is cause problems all the road from the crossing back up to Harvey Gardens.Off_it said:On a serious point, someone needs to make sure the level crossing is properly marshalled/policed. I personally think we should refuse this shit and just walk our normal way - are the police gonna nick / be able to stop everybody? They're obviously gonna be understaffed anyway what with the march and all the rest of it. What they are really asking is for us to wait in the ground again. Something we made very clear last time we weren't happy about. Part of me thinks fuck it who cares, the other part thinks bollox. This is gonna really grate if we lose.1
-
You can't. Its 2025 and it's called (non) democracy & trampling all over your civil liberties.MrOneLung said:seriously though, what about those of us who need to go up Charlton Church Lane ?
I wonder what other London clubs are imposing this on the home fans tomorrow ?0 -
So if that's the case why are WE not being able to go about our lawful business and having to walk round in circles for 20 mins.RaplhMilne said:Millwall will have an away support of 3,000 season ticket holding , high loyalty points , fans. I think we can be fairly sure their bark is worse than their bite. They will be noisy and threatening, but these are largely kittens not Lions. They will be plastic Hoolies, who on the whole haven’t thrown a punch since year 10 at school. They are not the hordes of Gengis Khan, so let’s not big them up.2 -
No reason to close Charlton Lane. I imagine they might block Charlton Church Lane just north of the station though, to stop anyone trying to access the station via Charlton Lane, Lansdowne Lane and The Heights.Leeds_Addick said:

So all other home fans in the Championship have to do this when Millwall visit ? Don't recall seeing it in the media over the past few years that Millwall fans have smashed up stadiums.Henry Irving said:Spoke to one of the directors about this who said that it was out of the club's hands and a police decision they weren't happy about.

Why are some people blaming the club.
We've been told it's a police decision and they have the final say.
It seems some so called Charlton "fans" just can't wait to have a dig.
Nobody is happy about it but if the police decide that's what is going to happen the club can do fuck all about it.3 -
This in spades.Off_it said:On a serious point, someone needs to make sure the level crossing is properly marshalled/policed. I seem to remember last time this happened that the coppers on the ground didn't even know there was a level crossing down the road they were telling everyone to go down!
God forbid someone gets knocked down by a train or run over by a car further down in Woolwich Rd.0 -
This is one of the rare occasions where I need to get to Woolwich after the game rather than North Greenwich or London Bridge, buzzing2
-
thats possibly correct but what if 20,000 fans decide they aren't gonna comply with it?southamptonaddick said:Why are some people blaming the club.

Maybe get a few but that'll be it.0 -
Because they have allowed this decision to be made. There isn't another club in the country that would allow this to happen to their home fans. This will be the second time that it's happened to us and you can bet your bottom dollar it won't be the last. Grow some fucking balls and keep them in, the club could always lose the keys to the gates.southamptonaddick said:Why are some people blaming the club.
