With all these budget cuts where will it end? Stationary cupboard will be running dry with all these signings.8 -

Tanto and Apter were players signed for the first team right now. They’re not good enough in Jones’ opinion so now we call them ‘investments’

Comments from NJ when each of them were announced:The Red Robin said:Tanto and Apter were players signed for the first team right now. They’re not good enough in Jones’ opinion so now we call them ‘investments’
"Rob's exactly the type of player that we want to sign for Charlton Athletic - he's young, athletic, has a high ceiling and is a really technical player who had a fantastic season last year and did really well against us. He's an exciting player that can score and assist, and a player that will fit into our structure really, really well.""We’re really happy to sign Tanto. He fits everything we want to do here in terms of his profile - he’s young, hungry, athletic and he wants to play at the next level. He’s one that will continue to get better. He’s had a real good time at Stockport and we felt it was the right time to bring him in. He’s someone we’re really excited about."6 -
I think in Apter's case that was always going to be the...case given we wanted to convert him to a high and wide wingback. He's only 22, never played consistently at this level, and is what, a year removed from League Two? So I think that much sits okay with me. And as Jones has said, and I think genuinely, he's been a victim of our left sided problems where we can't play a high and wide RWB when TC is our LWB. Or Hernandez, etc.The Red Robin said:Tanto and Apter were players signed for the first team right now. They’re not good enough in Jones’ opinion so now we call them ‘investments’
With Tanto, who is 26 and making the step up from a L1 playoff team, I think it feels a little more ropey. That being said, he still looks quite raw in his touch and he has a lot of raw tools, pace, strength, pressing, but he lacks some our the nuance and nous for that center forward role. I do think he's been a little hard done by in that he hasn't had much of a chance to play off a big man from the start very often, and he's looked his best coming on with Miles at the 60 minute mark. But his touch alone still needs work, it's very erratic.
That being said, Cawley said that pretty much every L1 team was interested in Tanto so there must be something there that we haven't seen at Championship level.2 -
Look, forget what he said at the time because clearly they haven’t stepped up in the way we hoped. It happens - fergie signed Djemba-Djemba!We are now trying to polish this turd we are by bringing in players that they think might be able to affect us now and help us be the team we urgently need to be in the next 18 games.1

Unless Ramsay is off?killerandflash said:
Whether he's good or not, he doesn't seem a signing we need, when i look at the weaknesses in midfield and still on the left of defence.Swisdom said:I'd need to see more of Sichenje. What limited footage I have seen of him shows him to be tall, fast and as strong as an ox. A little hasty into a challenge (he will pick up many cards) and probably not a particularly technical player - more of a blunt instrument. A very typically African centre back with excellent physical attributes but might need someone to organise the defence around him (ok with Lloydy back there)
Perfectly suited to our current style. Looks the sort that will run through a wall if told - and that wall will be absolutely decimated.
Right footed. Speaks english
Ramsay might be struggling at the moment, but he's still a good player ( at our level of budget), ditto Burke. And we have Gough and Mitchell who can cover right centre back. Or Clarke if we play Fevrier at right wingback0 -
A manager speaking bollox. Must be something they learn about for their coaching badges.Callumcafc said:The Red Robin said:Tanto and Apter were players signed for the first team right now. Sign of getting old … I haven’t heard of most of the players were going for or have signed 😩4

Exactly. They were signed for this team, for this season. Anything else is nonsense.Callumcafc said:The Red Robin said:Tanto and Apter were players signed for the first team right now. copy/paste what hes written. It doesn’t cost much a month at all and it allows him to make a living. Money well spent subbing to him imo7 -
I know some of our players ‘legs have gone’ but they haven’t come to a standstill just yet 😉😆DamoNorthStand said:

Just heard that the Kenyan has signed. 1.9m, pending a medical.28

Not done yet according to any UK sources. Raytreacy's link, opening paragraph says:
"Vojvodina are set to complete another significant outgoing transfer, with Collins Sichenje on the verge of joining Charlton Athletic"1 -
Random signing.
Is Phil Chapple still at the club?0 -
Feels like a proper sort of Phil Chapple signing, given he's been working abroad, and is just his second window with us, is very left field from the Recruitment team if not.Valley11 said:Random signing.

Being a right footed CB and with Coady also joining I get the feeling this is only happening because someone in that position is either injured longer term or being sold.ken_shabby said:Just heard that the Kenyan has signed. 1.9m, pending a medical.
Exciting to be looking abroad though. Assuming it happens I look forward to NJ praising his “pace, power and athleticism”.5 -
It’s also from the 28th and was shared yesterday (I think) so nothing has changedswords_alive said:Not done yet according to any UK sources. Raytreacy's link, opening paragraph says:

My one request to all fans with Collins looking set to join is Kenya all just not place too much pressure on the lad9

2 things for me:
1. this from the article:
52 appearances, scored one goal, and collected 15 yellow cards and three red cards
- so with our luck he will get himself suspended and be unavailable 🙂
2. £1.9m
Surely makes this source unreliable given all our signings are always ‘ undisclosed’ !!
I jest. About time we had a random interesting wild card signing.I assume more a reflection of Phil Chapples work.0 -
I’ve just watched his YouTube video, not to be amazed but to get a sense of what he’s about. My first impression is that he might bring the physicality we’ve been missing in midfield. Just a punt, but we’ll see.

So we will have the following defenders in our squad: Ramsey, Clarke, Macca, Lloyd, Coady, Collins, Fevrier, Chambers, Gough, Burke, Bell, Lapa……I am sure we can get some clean sheets with that lot to pick from.
I am back on the midfield…..Conor, Docherty Carey, Fullah, Anderson, Berry, JRC
Up front - Dykes, Miles, Godden, TC
All looks a little out of balance…..2 -

Me and one or two others got somewhat excited about Lucas Mauragis, about 150 pages back, Aussie u23 at Central Coast Mariners in the A-league. I try to keep track for any news about him. So far he hasn't made a move though was linked to Bolton and Port Vale. But this has just come up, where he is presented as a case study for an injury and recovery agency.

I wasn't sure where to post this as it's not a specific rumour but I'm still hopeful he'll sign for us or turn up in the EFL, and not at a rival.

I still think that Nathan Jones was right royally pissed off certain performances at Millwall, Ramsay and Burke may have been part of that, but the Ramsay and Lloyd Jones rumour seemed to have a lot of credence from people on here. Has Nathan Jones decided that certain players will not improve and it may be a good idea to move them on, is that what is meant by a progressive window ?Scoham said:

Forwards. 5 players for 2 places.
Are you saying overloaded in midfield?1 -
I've actually got a Harambe Stars supporting mate 😂
I trade kenya bonds and asked a few local clients who are into football what they thought of him. One who is a bit of a football nut said he is a good youngster breaking through, hasn't seen lots of him but he is rated, could definitely be a good one for the future but unsure if he is ready for the English leagues yet. The other 3 had never heard of him, although they're probably bigger united/arsenal fans than they are kenya fans5
