Oxford a spending money left right and centre. Desperate times for them. Can see them having back to back relegations
Or staying up as they've invested in a critical window....
    Like Luton last season
and only went down by goal difference, it was tight as anything, let's not act like it was by a landslide. The window would have helped them.

I wouldn't want to be in Oxfords position, but I would prefer the window they are having, especially if they do manage to sign Savage & McDonnell.

Pompey also signing Ebou Adams. These are decent signings from our relegation rivals.

Our midfield needs addressing this window, it's bloody hopeless. Might be the worst in the whole league.
There was an argument Carey was in the Championship TOTY after the first 15 games, Coventry everyone always bangs on about how important he is and we have struggled in that No.8 position but JRC is pretty much a new signing with how he’s looked.
Worse midfield in the league is just panic talk because Oxford and pompey have brought in new players.

I don’t massively disagree with your verdict on our midfield vs the league (wouldn’t say we are the worst but probably near there). But these stats mean absolutely nothing to show how good our midfield is. Those stats just reflect our style of play, we play more direct so of course have less possession and less accurate passes

Nathan Jones finished 6th with Luton and they were 23rd for possession and accurate passes per game that season. It means nothing

You're now just critiquing Jones' tactics. It's clearly an instructions for all of our defenders to pump it long, we could bring in prime Andrea Pirlo, that isn't going to move us out of that percentile

We have one of the worst squads in the league because we have one of the lowest budgets in the league. So naturally we do have one of the worst midfields in the league. The defence is probably the only thing that’s championship level and even then they are all injured half the time

The midfield are better than other teams at some things though. I’d imagine our midfield’s distance covered per game is right up there at the top of the championship, that’s going to be more important to Nathan Jones than possession and number of passes

If by some miracle we did get Rak-Sakyi, it's take a big change of game plan, but a front 3 with Campbell and JRS either side would scare the shit out of defenders

When I think that we could start with a midfield of Coventry, Docherty and Berry, the same we had in League One, I die a little inside. That midfield didn't stand out at the level below. I remember praying at the end of last season that we would improve ourselves but we haven't by much. Surely not a single player in there that we can't look to improve on.

“If” does a lot of heavy lifting here. They also have a much better team

Not me. I think they’ll stay up by a point.

It’s not, but it doesn't matter who it’s against. You can’t just add an imaginary 3 points we haven’t won.

And yet, they were a huge part of getting us promoted 🤷🏻‍♂️

Don’t get me wrong I think there’s a reason Hull let Docherty go (likewise Plymouth with Gillespie) as the Championship is, most of the time, a step too high for them to now stand out. Similarly Berry is coming to the end of his career at this level, although he retains a football nous that does come in handy on occasion. We have to realise that we are years behind the established Championship clubs, who are now dropping £5m a go on squad players.

Cant we? - I remember back in League One people would say that we'd be in a false League position when in the top six, because everyone down to 12th would have games in hand on us ;)

So Clarke in for Bree and number wise we're no better off in defence.

If we could actually sign a solid LWB, then Apter could play RWB like he did at the start of the season so well...

So a LWB to come in and either a RCB or RWB depending where Clarke plays we sign the other position. Imray just been recalled from Blackpool that could be a move Charlton fan as well

Even though his form fell off this is not good news and a bit gutted for him because I think he really wanted to stay. I feel like NJ will sign him on a free during the summer if we stay up.

Let’s get Danny Imray in then shall we, he’s a Charlton fan who is a very good and energetic player by the way.
