Hate to single players out but if we see Doc playing after Jan then I think we’re in trouble. Just seems like he can’t make a forward pass and every time he receives the ball I just think he’s going to lose it. Agree with Bree comments as well. Terrible day

I think we feel like we're a player down when Carey isn't on top form. Which sadly has been way too often lately.
He not going to be on top form playing a more defensive role .. get Doc back in and put Carey back in his normal role .. why change it when it was working perfectly fine ??

Hardly working perfectly fine, I'd say adequate at best

He was playing 10. What do you think his normal role is, goalkeeper.

So you guys got what you wanted without TC starting. How did that go?
We had two decent crosses, both from him when he finally came on. Bet he starts Monday, thankfully.
So it’s the fans fault then how shit we was today ?

There was no need to set up like that and not start with Apter and Campbell as wing backs and take the game to Norwich.
Other than the memory of the 1-5 defeat to Southampton where we did similar with no defensive Wing-Backs?
    Norwich aren’t Southampton
Exactly. If there is anything you need to know about playing Norwich is that they can't keep clean sheets. So attacking them would be very beneficial. The fact we never had a shot on target against them is criminal.

NJ must be thanking his luck that he was in the stands & not able to come over to the fans at the end because he really would have got what for.
According to the commentary it was Norwich's first clean sheet since 30th August.

Crikey lads was it really that bad. At work since 3 and just came in and saw the result. Then to read the comments here but then looking at some of the players marks just dont add up. Apart from how bad Bree is.
Yes Chris, it was shit.  Very disjointed and lack of effort.  Relegation fodder.  Best thing to say is we know they can play better (cos we’ve seen it).  Big question is… will we?

We had 4 points from 2 games without him starting before today so not sure you're making as strong a point as you think. Was pretty poor when introduced today anyway.

It's a while since i've tried it but after that i had to try a psychic reading of what TC was feeling and it may be alarming to some, but not others. I detected he was most unhappy at seeing Anderson coming off, as they have a strong connection since coming through the ranks together and international duties. He looks to his left and thinks with Bell and Anderson coming off i've got to take the game to Norwich with this chump (Docherty). This was the root of his unhappiness and the gifted among you can no doubt see it in his Chakras, both higher and lower, which damages to his positive energy field. TC effectively came on in a sulk, and this isn't really a surprise for one so young. Do we still have a team psychologist that can address these issues? He would seem to be in need of some spiritual coaching, which is really about unlocking his blocked up chakras and letting his natural talent flourish every time he steps on the field. Failing that we will have to move on Docherty as that would also help.

    Awful gutless performance
zero shots on target tell you a lot but all the wasted corners and free kicks especially by Bree were worse than School Boy level.
why does bree take corners and free kicks after half time when he is consistently so poor ?

Irrespective of our continued injuries we need to invest soon especially in someone who can cross balls into the box and someone else who can Score👍
a Shit day at the office 👎👎👎

Rank awful. And a must win/could win match thrown away. Relegation form full stop. No goals, no defence, no endeavour. Nought. Nothing doing.

Charlton away have been shitting on Xmas since man was a boy. Other than wins at footballing giants Yeovil and MKD in 2011 & 2016, you need to go back to 1997 for a previous away win. 2 wins in something like 27 years.

So averagely mediocre today. There’s been a lot to like about this squad of players but that was really disappointing today.

Annoying thing is a decent performance would have beaten a pretty average Norwich side and put a massive 12 point gap between us, which would have been hugely difficult for them to overcome in the rest of the season. Now it’s just a 6 point gap

It went as badly today as it went well against Oxford on Saturday and Birmingham two weeks ago.
A sample size of 3 games.

    Sorry, what was your point?

We have no attacking threat without him on the pitch, also proven by the past 3 games

While it was a poor performance tonight, the constant comments coming from the guy to my right were beyond ridiculous.

I can only assume that he wanted to play for Charlton, but was rightfully turned down during his trial and now hates all academy players. That or the dead sewer rats he seemed to have been eating, judging by his breath, have made him deluded.

At one point Leaburn was down after getting the ball off a player. Leaburn was still on the ground and there were two Norwich players that were a third of the distance a floored Leaburn was to the ball. The guy expected Leaburn to instantly jump to his feet and dash to the ball. Instead, Leaburn did EXACTLY the right thing. He leapt to his feet and rushed to press the player he was expecting the ball to go (which he got correct). This guy however would have preferred it if Leaburn had hopelessly chased after the ball and given their defender plenty of space to play the pass without pressure. He called Leaburn lazy for being smart enough to make the correct play.

He was even more critical of TC when he came on. He seemed to want TC to play like Kanté/Makélélé, but without any positional awareness and simply chase the ball as he did nothing but call TC lazy for not being near the ball, even when TC was in front of Apter on the left and the ball was on our right hand flank by Bree. I have no idea why of all our players he thinks that it should be TC playing such a role.

I thought we did alright in the first half coming in 0-0 and start of the second half was ok but as soon as anderson went off for doc and bell went off we were chasing shadows and looked extremely poor all over. Campbell had his worst game for us and looked completely lost, but did put the only cross of note into the box. Not sure kelmen even touched the ball, he desperately needs someone (LEABURN) to play off. Bree's delivery was embarrassing all game. Jones and Gillespie had awful games, first time ive seen Jones completely out-battled and bullied by an opposing striker.

Personally can not see why we changed a wining team from Oxford bar Ramsey. Could've theb eased bell in for either Gillespie or apter

Ok can we nip this in the bud, some think TC is our saviour, others think he’s not, people are allowed to disagree, hope this stops the going around in circles . You’re welcome.👍😂

First clean sheet since august, we couldn't even muster one shot on target!

At least Gough got 90mins of experience!

Have to say, n jones has zero alternative tactics other than 1 formation. Zero. Or does he?

Exactly - definition of a ‘six pointer’.  Set pieces were particularly disappointing today.  With our style of play, they are an important source of goals.  Apart from the deep corner in the first half that Gough (I think) headed back, they were shocking.  Even when Sonny took over from Bree on corners they were all predictably short - and equally shit.  3 points essential from next 2 and Im not confident about Cov…

But TC alone shouldn't be the answer. We have Apter & Fullah.......and really should have at least 1 more attacking threat. Just relying on TC is madness, as has been proved recently.

We can have no complaints and, in truth, the scoreline flattered us. Norwich won that game at a canter and largely controlled it from start to finish. They moved the ball well and had the best player on the park in Makama.

Charlton struggled to put two or three passes together, lost out on most 50/50s and could have played until midnight without scoring - or maybe even managing a shot on target. Our lack of quality was apparent in midfield, where there was minimal passing and movement - our default tactic was the hopeful long ball towards Leaburn and Olafe, all of which were comfortably handled by the Norwich defence. The consequence was that we created next to nothing in open play - compounded by a series of atrocious corners and free-kicks. I thought things might improve when Apter came on but, no, Carey took a couple of short corners which came to absolutely nothing, without even getting the ball in the box..

The only positives were avoiding a heavy defeat, some good saves from Kaminski and a very sound debut from young Keenan Gough. Defeat is not a great surprise - Norwich were always favourites - but the manner of it is worrying.

My first trip to Carrow Road was on Boxing Day 1971, when we got humped 3-0, with a couple of goals from Kenny Foggo in a game where a promising young signing from Rochdale, David Cross, made his debut for the home side. They were on their way to first ever promotion to the top tier, whilst we were on the way down to the third tier for the first time since the 1930s. I've been back a couple of times since, during which we've never conceded less than 3 goals, although this afternoon's offering was more disappointing than any of those trips.

With the teams below us all picking up points (especially Oxford), today's result puts pressure on Monday's game at Pompey. I'm guessing that Jones will make a few changes to try and freshen things up and we might see a couple of new starters from Kelman, Campbell, Knibbs and Fullah.
