  • Good at Wolves, crap at 3 clubs since.

I'm not optimistic but really hope that's proved very wrong.

Maybe if enough of us hope at the same time, he will suddenly resurrect his wolves form.

I genuinely don't get the people writing him off after playing 5 games with new teammates, in a team new to the Championship, at the start of the season.

Let's wait and see what he does here, because in previous seasons he's played at the top level, got promoted out of this division with 2 different clubs and won 10 caps for England
Me neither. We can do it after 45 minutes!
  • We could sign a literal dogturd and you'd get people going "you have to give the turd a chance to see if he's a turd"

Leicester guy on Cawley's latest pod didn't paint the greatest picture. Played far less football for Leicester than I realised over the last 2 seasons. Leicester fans referring to him being a podcaster rather than a footballer. Brings plenty of experience and leadership.  Just hope he brings his other footballing qualities.
Maybe Coady and Braziliance can alternate between playing centre back and doing videos

But can Braziliance do it on cold Tuesday night in stoke??

    Are you new here?
  • What was he like at Luton?
  • Good signing - happy with this!

That actually happened. We re-signed Macauley Bonne.

He also wasn't very good for Everton or Leicester before that either.

Well, maybe if you supported him more instead of slagging him off on CL, he'd have been Haalandesque.

Always think there’s value in what other fans think. Not every fan is rational, but when more than one club is saying the same, it becomes worrying.

Hope he does well, but I’m not expecting much.

Conor Coady! Bloody hell. Where did that come from? Excellent.

He’s not old but he does need to get back on track. Let’s hope he can do it with us.

Can anyone enlighten me as to whether he’s got the legs for the run in

Well according to the 'Pound shop Pundits' on CL his legs have gone but his influence in the dressing room may be just us important as being a rock as a CB.
Patrick Bauer had no Pace but did a job for CAFC when fit and even scored an important goal 💪🏼
No BFG but Perhaps Conor Coady can be BFS who robs a few points for Charlton.

Out of interest which ITK person 1st mentioned CC coming to Charlton or was it Cawley ?

He did his job for Everton. They had absolutely no money and brought him in on loan to a team that was absolutely on its arse. the fact they stayed up on the last day is a bit of a miracle. Dyche came in and generally preferred his familiar Tarkowski/Keane partnership but Coady did his bit in an Everton side that had no right staying up, Everton fans were happy enough with him even if there wasn't a lot of support for then spending to sign him after that. He was an absolute animal in that final survival game against Bournemouth and that's the kind of mentality he'll hopefully bring to us
  • I think this will be the best or worst signing of the season. New faces were needed, so the signing gets a big thumbs up from me. Hopefully it works out, we need it to!

I did read once that as a younger man, he was an incredible DM, spraying passes around for fun, and was once considered England's big hope in the sort of Carrick mould, before being pushed back into defence. Would love to see it

It seems like no signing is good enough for us? Amazing that. Haaland? Not as good as last season. Lewandowski? too old. Lamine Yamal far too young. Salah? Why would Liverpool be selling him if he still had the legs?

Reminds me of when we signed another slow boat Gary  Doherty from Spurs.

Or Christian Dailly? Did a job and a half for us.

Pardew tried to sign Stephen Pressley in our legendary relegation year for this same reason - experience and dressing room influence. He wouldn’t come of course but Pardew did get Thatcher to give us mental toughness. I don’t know if I even have a point I’m trying to make here.

Absolutely this. NJ needed to roll the dice as he hasn't in a while. Will he change the formation too, or is that too much to ask?

Signing someone who can only play as the central CB in a back three only to change formation to not play a three would be mental even by NJ’s standards

Like every club we have good and bad signings:
For every Mendonca, Costa, Edwards from different Era's who were excellent you get Ahadme, Kirk, and Traore etc!

We all have our favourites and failures.

Most Charlton fans/critics' are mentally down and will be hurting I know I'm because I don't enjoy seeing and hearing my Charlton family so fed up after recent shocking performances.

Unless the team can raise their spirits and confidence, there won't be any formation that will save CAFC from the drop with Sheffield Wednesday and 1 other.

We took a mighty step forward in the play-off victory, it would be a possible fatal blow to this club if the trap door opens again.

Well, this is the Gillesphey replacement. For that reason alone it’s a good move. Gillesphey has been very weak this season.
  • He's not a Gillesphey replacement, he's cover for Jones.

Gillsephey is cover for Bell. Hopefully to return this weekend.

As Burke is cover for Ramsay.

I was very impressed with Dailly when he played for us. Was expecting next to nothing from him but was pleasantly surprised. I know we were in a lower league but still.. player of the season I believe..

Hmm. I think he’s a bit more versatile than that. I’m sure he would do a better job than Gillesphey at the back.
