If true re Gillesphey that’s great for all parties concerned.

Thank you for Wembley Macca and that excellent performance at home to Blackburn but one it's right for both parties that he moves on. Go score a few free kicks in League 1 :)

The question becomes if Gillesphey goes then are we looking at someone else to replace him as backup or are we pushing the boat out for a first choice LCB with Bell being the reserve (due to his fitness issues.)

I'd like to think the latter , Bell will absolutely still have his role to play but having a first choice LCB with his injury record isn't ideal.

Cover for Lloydy is probably needed as well unless they think Sichenje could deputise in the middle?

We still have Burke as another central option.  I can't see anyone signing him from us. And Sichenje can definitely play in the middle.

A cult hero and somebody that played a huge part in our promotion, but isn't really part of our future if we want to improve.

Good move for all parties, if true, imo.
And we have to wish him the best. Not the greatest but an honest pro and we’ll always have Wembley.

Yeah I'm not sure what you do with Burke I guess you just hope you can get 10-15 games out of him as a squad player. Hopefully a new deal incoming for Ramsay too

    Both right sided.

Agree with the general consensus that a first choice LCB with Bell as a very good back up which will help him manage his fitness

I was talking about the central position, i.e. cover for Jones.

Get in a proper LWB, and have Edwards as back up LCB...

get a young understudy to Bell. Ease him in 1st season get him used to the style of play intensity etc and then first team the following season. Bell can easily do a job still would have gotten 2nd for POTY if he was fit all year

But he wasn't, and won't be next year, he is injury prone. We either need a starter there or a top quality LWB and I think Edwards would be quality as the LCB starter

Depends on the system if we play the 352/4231 you need Edwards as the LWB because he plays as a LB in possession and if he started as a LCB I wouldn’t trust him to play as a CB in a 4 in possession.

If we play a traditional 352 there’s definitely no reason why we can’t use Edwards there

Left sided centre backs are hard to find and in great demand. I’m assuming that Jones doesn’t feel that Bell can play every game and if Macca is off that we have someone lined up or he feels we can play Edwards there. Big danger in the latter is that Edwards has been injured a long time and might not be able to feature any more than Bell. I’m hoping we have a quality LCB coming in. Worrying if not.

Would expect Gillesphie to go to a L1 team and having been promoted from their twice, he will do well.  Too slow and error prone for the Champions ship but a solid, 100% effort, hard worker in L1 who scored our goal at Wembley to write his legend.

Whether he goes to Bradford, who knows, the poster quoted has about 90 followers doesn't he.

The guy who was asking about Gillesphey has, but before that there were 2 Bradford accounts one who does content creation and another account that does Bradford news who both were talking about it and they have 1.8k and 2k respectively which is a decent amount for twitter/X

I think Edwards could be a great LCB provided he's the same player pre-injury, I'm quite concerned about where he's gonna be after having best part of 12 months out of the game with what appears to be a quite serious injury and I can't think of many players for us who have come back at the same level post this kind of injury. Obviously the staff know more than me and get better insights but personally I am not looking at Josh as someone who is a definite contributor to our success next season, would be more like an 'added bonus' if he is able to play and have impact

I'm sure Josh would give it a go at lcb but I'd prefer someone taller than 5ft 9ins if I'm honest.

I can't believe we'd let Gillesphey go without a better LCB coming in. Bell's 32, had a few injuries and Gillesphey was one of our weaker squad players. It's an obvious position to upgrade.

Even if a player is unwanted, they will still go through pre-season with us, unless they have an immediate move lined up.

It's football "etiquette" that this happens, plus if a player is unwanted AND unfit, you have even less chance of getting rid of them.
Gary Cahill played left side for Chelsea  as a right footer .  Mark Fish did it for us for a while too.  Don’t think it’s  essential to have a left footer

I stand corrected, apparently he's 6ft and has been  mistakenly labelled 5 9 in a number of places

Why when we get a decent player (ie Josh) do some posters always want to convert them to something they’re not??

Macca being promoted from League One twice, must be galling that he hasn't been able to make it in The Championship and benefit from the whole promotion thing...🤦‍♂️
