That header off for a corner in our 1-0 win at Boro when he was flat out on his belly was a total wonder.

Surely we've got to see some movement this week, as its starting to get a little concerning with the amount of work we've still got to do.

Doesn’t Jones like the bulk of his business done by the time they travel to Slovenia?
Fingers crossed crossed it’s his reality this year.

I’m really not getting the frustration here. The club knows what’s needed and it’ll be working as hard and as fast as it can to get its targets signed. I doubt any of our targets don’t have other options to consider and players that are definitely moving on will have their agents delaying things as long as possible to get the best deal. The reality is that unless you make offers clubs and players can’t refuse these things drag out. We know we won’t be doing that. Clubs also might not be willing to release players until their business is done. It’s complicated. Even getting existing players to re sign drags out for months and months. In an ideal world we’d have players in before Slovenia but let’s not think because nothing has happened yet it won’t happen.

It maybe the obvious thing to say but getting the right players signed is more important than just getting any player signed.
All that matters is the right players are part of the squad, that improve us from last season, whenever they are signed during the transfer window.
I appreciate, in an ideal world, getting the players we want signed early would be great unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world.

Not really. There will be lots of happening and probably has already but we won't "see" much of it if any. All the usual complications have to be worked through and potentially with the World Cup going on it adds extra issues - we may not be signing players who are at the WC but the chain of signings needed to make it happen could well be affected.

We can't take not hearing anything or seeing any signs as being the same thing as "nothing is happening."

The question becomes if Gillesphey goes then are we looking at someone else to replace him as backup or are we pushing the boat out for a first choice LCB with Bell being the reserve (due to his fitness issues.)
get a young understudy to Bell. Ease him in 1st season get him used to the style of play intensity etc and then first team the following season. Bell can easily do a job still would have gotten 2nd for POTY if he was fit all year
But he wasn't, and won't be next year, he is injury prone. We either need a starter there or a top quality LWB and I think Edwards would be quality as the LCB starter
He's injury prone when playing at LWB, NJ should never play him in that position, injury waiting to happen.
Its sadly possible that Josh is a good left back but neither a good lcb or lwb in the Champ, even without the impact of his injury and time out of the game.
His injury was one of the mysteries of the season for me as it looked so innocuous at the time he even ran across to the other side of the pitch to try and take a long throw straight after the tackle where the injury happened so he obviously didn’t think it was bad at the time and for it to be a seasoning ending injury was just weird
Ankles are weird. I tore my ankle ligaments in the early stages of a game and saw the entire game out in a little bit of discomfort but not enough to really slow me down. It was only when I actually stopped that I realised how much pain I was in, my ankle ballooned massively and then it took me 6 months to recover and there's still a lump on my ankle where the tissue damage was. It's actually a relief they got him to stop at all or he could have made it even worse

Joints are complicated once you injure more than one component.

From memory, they didn't actually get him to stop. He was on the floor and couldn't carry on after the throw-in, which obviously placed too much additional weight/strain on the ankle.

Why ….. plenty of time said many times there lots of stuff going on and with players returning to clubs over next few weeks it will suddenly go mad ….. one move can generate 2/3

There's a distinct shortage of transfers in general so i'm not overly concerned yet.  I'm pretty sure we have a shortlist, a longer list and maybe even a few unlikely punts but we'll give it a go.  I also expectwe won't hear much until it's meant to get out - we are infinitely more professional and tight lipped than we were.
let's see what this week brings

I was sitting next to Wimbledon’s Director of Football on a flight from NYC to Dallas last week (we were heading there for the England game).

I asked him about Asiimwe - he said he started well, but had a really poor end to the season, and they are not interested in resigning him. Thinks he’s a league two / national league player.

He talked about a few Charlton players…

He and Jackson would love to take Kanu on loan, but thinks he’ll end up somewhere else in league one who can offer better wages.

Really rates Mbick, but knows they have no chance of getting him.

    Zero interest in Ahadme.

Wanted to sign Ramsay when he was at Harrogate but JJ wasn’t sure!!

Likes Phil Chapple, “one of the good guys”.

Not wishing to judge you gratuitously here and appreciate you posting it but… maybe a bit much to identify the person you spoke to to this extent? A ‘well placed source at AFCW’ might have covered it. I just wonder if a private, off the record conversation is fair game for this or not.

We need to be all over Gibson Yah from FC Volendam. Was rumoured to sign for Pompey but that has now fallen through. An absolute unit in the middle who is very good technically as well. Exactly what we need in the middle.

Are we about to announce our first signing.

That silhouette looks worryingly like Alex Gilbey.
