I believe he will come good and was disappointed when he was loaned out in January. He needs a run in the team to get his confidence back. You may not think that’s the right way to go about things - and they should chuck more money at it - but it definitely should draw a line under any nonsense that he has fallen out with the board because the budget has been cut.11 -

Encouraging that Nathan Jones clearly recognises our weakness from last season, which was struggling to counter or attack with any pace and urgency. Sounds like he’s trying to correct that as a priority.5

I think the biggest thing for Apter and many of the lads who’re on the periphery of the squad is how they react to what NJ has said to them and obviously also how they perform. There will of course be the issue that NJ also wants to strengthen the squad so some may not get much of a chance to show off any change.2

Apart from when he was very good against Watford, Bristol City and Leicester as a RWB and was our player of the month for August. He's perfectly capable of carrying out the role, his output dipped when he stopped putting in the effort to track back and that cost him his place after QPR where he decided he only wanted to go forward and then against Millwall where he didn't have much defending to do and wasted his opportunity when he had the scope to attack. The things Rob Apter can do are entirely up to Rob Apter, it's just a question of whether or not he's come back willing to do what Jones wants him to. The system isn’t changing. He couldn’t perform in his preferred role in league 1, can he perform in the attacking RWB role for us? He’s got the talent but if he isn’t willing to work for it then it won’t get him anywhere.king addick said:

Does Apter have the right attitude to be happy with that limited role? I’m not sure he does, so I’d be surprised if he’s still here in September0 -

He calls it the ‘South London press Charlton Athletic edition’ so I wondered. But he does also go to all our games so can’t be going to theirs as well!1
