Greg Docherty is usually the tell, he’s always first to follow a new player.

Think I checked the other day and he was following the same ones as he is now 😂

I'm pretty sure Cawley said that Kamara could happen later in the window.
We're planning on Nikon'ing him at the last minute... Haha... Pompey's faces will be an absolute picture!!
I've already heard rumours of a big reveal, they're going to fire him out of a Canon at HT vs. Preston
Jones was asked about Kamara, and replied "I Leica him".
    Instamatic response.

Some will love him, some will hate him. He'll Polaroid the fan base.

    In a flash.

    Yes dearest.

The answer is no, he isn’t. Hope that helps.
Infact nobody has followed anybody interesting since alli with the exception of Greg Docherty following an MLS team

That’s ok, it’s not unusual for people to be negative on here.

Hard to judge any players when you don't know what their instructions are.
We might as well all stop watching football then.

We could have the best midfield in the league and would struggle to control the ball and the game.

There are no passing patterns, rotations or plans on how to progress the ball through the thirds. Its lump it long and hope, or get it to TC and hope.

Now Jones may say that he has to play like that because of the players he has, but he also signed those players so its not a great excuse.

This evolution requires both an improvement in midfield and an improvement in how we approach being in possession.

Coventry I think can step up and progress to a passing game, Doc cannot.

If it is only 2 more players to be signed, then they both have to be in midfield. If the plan is for just 1 midfield addition, then you have to seriously question the people making the decisions.
I think NJ would snap back that yes he signed those players but only had pennies to bring them in. I do think a certain faction of the fanbase are pretty anti NJ (not you Pudds), they find his style of play and personality hard to like. I don’t mind either as long as we don’t go back to the horrors of L1.
He may well. I would argue he does his best work with a shoe-string in that his fees tend to do worse than his frees.
Can’t argue with a large portion of shoestring frees.  Tommy sauce, job done.

I'm not good at all when it comes to what is expected when someone plays a role within a certain formation...... but I've been reading a lot of stuff about how good or not our midfield is and what we need in the window...... which is all good grist for the mill........ and I agree with a lot of it....... so fwiw here's what I think....... I saw a fair bit of Charlton last season and would have thought that when we get the chance Doc and Carey should be finding space to receive the ball...... keep possession and move the ball through our lines so that our wingers/wing backs/strikers (whatever you want to call them) can make chances and we can score goals according to whatever the accepted percentages are........ (I'm not sure what xG is either tbh)......
Can all the stats/maps can show any of that..... I don't know.......  but I don't feel I saw enough of it tbh.......... so if there's no outlet, what are the keeper and defensive guys, including Cov, supposed to do?

Just had a look at their squad and noticed Nathan Byrne plays for them. One for the players you've forgotten played for Charlton thread.

If Docherty and/or Coventry are going to drop out of the first XI then it’s imperative we have some players coming in who have leadership qualities. This is something that’s concerned me about our team for a long time. I don’t expect that we’ll have the most technically proficient team in the Championship but we lack organisational and intelligence out there a lot of the time. That’s one of the biggest things that Coady brought and you saw what a difference it made.
That's why we're still in this division.

    Re Holsgrove -
He’s 26 and has one decent season to his name.  Does he want to take the money and see if he gets games at Wolves and try to get back to the premier league
or go somewhere to be the main man, for a bit less money but regular football

personally I really don’t get all the hullabaloo about this guy - he’s Scottish and if he was any good I’d expect him to be playing regularly for them.  If Dykes plays, and he’s decent but fairly limited, but Holsgrove doesn’t get a look in for a very average Scotland, is he really all that.
Scotland do actually have some decent midfielders, just not very good in defence or attack.

We have a guaranteed starting winger TC, now have Grant, Alli and Apter; of whom two won't start. Three tend to be on left. Buy starters ffs.

Yet we have a weaker midfield which was already poor, Coadyless, and no money spent in our most vulnerable area. Speechless!!!
Jones has game starters and game finishers.

He keeps the back line intact, if he can but upfield players are changed according to the gameplan or tactical changes.

The pre-match  instructions may be for certain starting players to play 60 minutes with intensity, before being replaced with 'fresh legs' game finishers or game changers of equal quality.

It's a squad game and 5 subs will be used most games - and next game some players rotated accordingly.

The concept of always starting with your best players, has gone the way of the Dodo. Keep up :)

Well said Oggy👏🏻 but so many on CL still don't understand the concept of 16 players per side taking part in matches that can be 100 minutes long.

We could play 4-2-3-1every match and you will still hear, why haven't CAFC bought wing backs 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yes but we aren’t being pissed about by Gilmour or McTominay, it’s a fella most of us haven’t got a clue about!!

I don’t mind Dykes - I just don’t like the way we play with him in the team (long ball central) or playing him and Leaburn together as it doesn’t work.
