If it is a case of the squad staying the same, but we manage only one new midfielder and Chalobah, I don't think it is enough personally and can see us scrambling for another midfielder in January.
In their defence though, they've only had 299,520 minutes to manage this though. These things take patience.2 -

That’s exactly the same as players looking at Norwich and Millwall for example and see them as a better bet than us. That certainly makes life harder in recruiting as I think we’re currently finding out but Lincoln dominated their division last season. Have momentum and no doubt will instil a siege mentality. When we were promoted via the playoffs I think it’s fair to say that most of us thought we had very much a league one squad and our recruitment up until January didn’t really alter that fact. Tanto was bought by us because we thought / hoped he could make the step up and sadly that hope didn’t materialise. Prior to signing for us he did very well at Stockport, enough for us to take a calculated gamble on him and it’s strange that he didn’t do better in his loan. Confidence knocked maybe but I think Lincoln are looking past his bad season with us and signing the player we thought we’d signed. They don’t have a big budget and I think it’s a calculated gamble for them too. They’ll start next week with basically a league one squad and I wouldn’t write them off as relegation certs just yet. I expect to see Chalobah sign today, given Jones interview & potentially Kamara/Edozie in by Sunday/Monday with a premier League loan in central midfield also being eyed up, I don't think Holsgrove is going to happen7

I don't see them as whipping boys but I do still think that realistically they are probably going back down. They may very well do what we did last year and get off to a flying start based on their momentum and togetherness from promotion but also like us will find a full Championship season, against established Championship sides and the ex-Prem teams with their squads and finances is a very different prospect.ShootersHillGuru said:

I think they will fight hard and probably take a few scalps along the way but staying up will be one hell of an achievement.4 -

I think that has to happen in terms of squad size. Could it be they don’t actually know where they sit in player budget league table yet, especially if the window hasn’t closed yet and GC is being optimistic and NJ being pessimistic. I don’t know, none of us know.Danny Addick said:

No inside track to our club annoyingly, just trying to put a timeline together from Nathan's interviews over the last 24 hours with Cawley, sounds to me like Chalobah is all but done from the way he talks about the player, the other 2 are much less clear but that was just how I perceived his words1 -
