What a load of dross. We have nothing up front, a midfield that can’t pass forward and because of that the defence are under constant pressure.
Not sure if this is the players fault or just crap tactics from Jones, but if we stay up we will need a massive shake up in the summer1 -

Where’s my text from the club urging me to buy a ticket for the next game? 😉😆1

This side is not intelligent enough to play forward.
The amount of times Bell gets the ball and instead of pushing or passing forward he cuts backwards and switches the ball across the back four is ridiculous.
It disrupts the whole flow and leaves us vulnerable when the inevitable central pump forward gets launched from the centre back and 99% of the time ends up back down our throats.2 -
On the back foot from start to finish it felt. Never looked like winning sadly.2

Dire set up from Nathan Jones. Lloyd Jones looking unfit, set up the midfield overrun by 4 against 3 for Bristol City. Jones did very little about it until the last part of the game, when throwing some subs on. Bristol scored unsurprisingly early first half, acres of space in the midfield and in front of the Charlton defence. Good goal from Dykes with good combination from what should have been a Bristol throw. Referee made up for that to Bristol City by given a huge number of soft free kicks in the second half.Second half Charlton gave away x2 free kicks, with an unfit Lloyd Jones involved. Mannion fecked up A Twine free kick and scooped it into the goal for 2-1 to Bristol.Team was lethargic, lacked energy for most of the game. Following subs Charlton & change of shape, lots of decent chances to score but no one could take any of it, Godden rusty maybe, TC still just getting off the plane but both should have done better. Charlton are not safe yet. More team set up and performances like that, we will be drawn into the relegation scrap.3

How many teams were below us then? I can't remember but don't feel it was this many.ct_addick said:
Was it 5 points clear with 5 to go in 19-20 season and we went down ! Play like this and it could happen…this was a game we needed to win…Mannion needs to take a lot of blame for this defeat…that was poor goalkeeping thereTalal said:3rd from bottom gained a point on us, one point. Six games to go. We'll be fine.1 -
I get that this season was all about survival but we can’t keep sitting back against teams around us. If we started with attack minded players today, that could have been an easy 3 points9
-
Too many bad performances today but could still have got a point. Still too squeaky bum for me to say we're safe based on us losing too many home games.
A word on the ref l. How thick or gullible are they. Player falls over in the corner. Obvious dive and yet he gives a foul. WTF is the lino doing given he is 2 yards from it and doesn't do a thing. Officials are so shit16 -
Miserable performance. The amount of times one of their players got the ball in their half and run almost to our goal area before being challenged.
All the stupid free kicks we give away, especially when we are in their half and going towards their goal.
If we stay up, and I am losing faith, we need nearly a new team or go down next season. If it was not for the points we got early season, we would be in bottom three by now.
Not looking forward to Monday

Another home game that we haven’t taken our chances, that HAS to change next season, and another poor error from Mannion has cost us points. Expect TK back in at Watford.TC continues to get into great positions, and sadly continues to waste them with poor finishing. He’s been a starter for 2 years now, and whilst there has been improvement in some areas of his game, his finishing continues to be dire. That either needs to improve or he will end up as a good L1 winger who can never step up.11

We are extremely fortunate with Sheffield Wednesday's situation too...ross1 said:Miserable performance. The amount of times one of their players got the ball in their half and run almost to our goal area before being challenged.

Worst game I’ve seen from Lloyd Jones for a while - every challenge he made ended up clattering the oppo and either go bypassed by a quick flick or gave away a foul.
midfield was exceptionally poor - would rather Coady in there, to allow Carey to push up.Clarke continues to not get the ball when free out wide, albeit he struggled defensively today.
poor performance overall, but can’t continue having this amount of clear cut chances and still not take them!4 -
We missed a proper destroyer in front of the defence today, someone in a Bielik or Dobson mould, even Pratley. So many times Bristol players could just run at the back 5 with the ball, while defenders retreated and our midfield was nowhere.
A lot of people have digged out Dochs for poor quality this season but IMO Coventry has looked far less adept at making the step up. So slow on the ball and not mobile enough off it.
Main target this summer has to be £5m or so physically dominating midfielder, potentially from abroad.7 -
Stop fucking asking the players what their favourite Easter egg is and actually put some effort in on the training ground.13
-
We are really poor in the key areas of the pitch. We are desperate for players who can pass the ball. Their 21 was quality driving forward with no one closing him down on many occasions. Bristol's passing was so effective, but let's face it we had no one effective to drive us forward!
Carry on playing like we did for 75 mins I cannot see us picking up any more points this season!0 -

Roy eventually got his first win against us. About time woy the boy.2

Yeah good point. If we hadn't got as many points as we have we'd be relegated by now.ross1 said:Miserable performance. The amount of times one of their players got the ball in their half and run almost to our goal area before being challenged.

It doesn't matter when you get the points as long as you get them10 -
The other thing I have noticed is other teams seem to always pick up the loose ‘second ball in midfield…maybe it’s because our mids are defensive oriented and not on the front foot.6
-
In typical Charlton fashion we are making extremely hard work of staying up. We are a very poor team and so inconsistent. We can't score more than one goal in a game and our midfield gets overrun too easily. Why on earth does Coventry play so deep. We have 3 decent centre backs for gods sake! After the awful game against Norwich we should have made some changes. Why can't JRC get a start and why is Carey undroppable. Today was on Jones. His tactics are shite and he is so one dimensional in his approach.
... And yes, I am really upset tonight and very worried that it will all fall apart. If we don't get a reaction against Watford (no chance) then I fear the worse.6 -
How does Coady not get in that midfield...?5
-
Rinse and repeat at home lately. Terrible bit of defending early on to give the away team something to hang on to then fail to create anything until the last 15 when they sit back, because teams are happy to take that chance against us. This has been a problem all season but the midfield were almost like a caricature of themselves today - I just don’t get how they can be so poor on the ball but also provide zero cover to the defense? Despite all that you could argue we deserved a point but it just never feels like we’re going to score even when creating big chances.
After the way their coaching staff pissed the bed over correct decisions in the first half it was guaranteed that the ref would give them absolutely everything in the second, but we just played right into their hands by making contact in areas we didn’t need to. Still think we’ll be fine to scrape enough points to stay up as no one is outplaying us, but would like this season to end ASAP.

That really wasn’t good but still certain we will be safe.Having said that, lots to be done over the summer if we are going to get close to mid table next season.4
-
Seems to be out of favour after the game he SCORED in away to the team that was SECOND at the time, now seemingly frozen out. Seen absolutely nothing from Coventry to suggest he should be keeping his spotmid_life_crisis said:How does Coady not get in that midfield...?0 -

Vitek is so good but I bloody hate him - made an absolute worldie to cost us earlier in the season too.7
