Other than 5 mins after we scored and 10/12 minutes when we went gung ho and the game got stretched, we were abysmal again.
Chasing shadows for 25 minutes, why was the formation not changed to at least match them up?
Literally no idea how it took 60 minutes for a sub to be made.
Not a shock that Lloyd Jones has a bad day at the office and the defence suddenly fall to pieces. I like Clarke, but he wasn’t great today. Chambers I just don’t get at all. Offers nothing going forward as a wing back and as a result rarely lasts a game.
When the midfield are poor they are huge steaming pile of horse shit poor. How many times this season have we been so easy to play through? It’s embarrassing.
Front two feeding on scraps again. Kelman, when he gets involved is one of our only players who knows how to find a yard of space. Unfortunately him and Dykes get no service at all.
Unfortunately for Mr Mannion that is the end of his run in the side. Made a total mess of the second goal and uncharacteristically was flapping at crosses today as well.
I keep hearing that we are safe. Disagree, this team is more than capable of losing the last 6 games.
I’d like to see a shake up at Watford. I’d give Fevrier a go at left back, start Fuller and find a way of getting Coady back into the team.8 -

"Defensively today we were inept." #cafcDont worry, never felt that you've tried to antagonise me... I just think we've had differing opinions, and most of the time we can debate thatMy responses weren't meant aggressively, but more the questions I'd hope we have now3 -
I fortunately/unfortunately (delete as applicable) couldn't attend the game today as I had to work so I kept up with it as best as I could through the medium of dance - what I did see looked like a continuation of the Norwich game, no lack of effort - plenty of huffing and puffing and ultimately never really looking like we would equalise. Opportunities were there but we were totally lacking killer instinct.
We keep saying we'll be fine and the appalling form of others may help in that regard but tonight feels like a real kick in the bollocks and this being Charlton I have to say I'm feeling a little nervous. Whilst not quite a must win it was certainly a must not lose - somehow we did.Not nearly good enough.

If we lose to watford and leicester beat wensday and portsmouth beat oxford then we are right back in the scrap5

Kaminski
Ramsay Jones Bell Fevrier
Rankin-Costello Coady
Fullah Carey Campbell
Dykes
Despite the vitriol Campbell received for his miss (funny how Godden and Carey didn't isn't it?) We did look much better with him and Fullah on. Start them on the wings and give them and Carey a chance to just create some chances. Dykes is the only striker we have that seems to score a goal, so I'd keep him in. And it is becoming clear that we seem to be better once Clarke/Chambers have gone off, so I agree with giving Fevrier a start. Jones and Bell (despite the off day) are the only two I'd trust in a back two right now.4 -
We didn't start playing til they scored and then once we did they looked rattled and we equalised and their heads dropped.
Instead of going at them straight from the off second half we did same until they scored and by the time the game changing players game on didn't take our chances.
Set up was wrong today and looked like they had an extra man at many points.
No flair or creativity until fullah, campbell and jrc came on.
Shouldn't be playing so defensively and negativity at home with side and backwards passing and hit and hope long balls.
Need to go out and play at home and get at them straight away. Fullah needs to be involved every game herein as a real talent and breath of fresh air from the pedestrian sideways stuttering build up play our midfield turns out.
Let's go and get something at Watford and win v Preston next Saturday.6 -
A real possibility as well.panther10 said:If we lose to watford and leicester beat wensday and portsmouth beat oxford then we are right back in the scrapThere’s a very good chance we get dragged back in - we need a minimum of 5 points from the next 3. If we don’t get that then we really are in trouble. It’s easy to make the ‘on the beach’ comments, but that looked to be the case to me today as well. Still squeaky bum3 -
Standard opposition team talk.Get the first goal and you won’t lose.Always worth trying a shot from long range.6

Why did we at the start of the second half, insist on trying to play the ball from our box, twice in what 5 Mins we tried that and ended up under the cosh. We handed them the initiative by doing that. They should know they useless at playing the ball out.
Well that was one of the three draws I predicted we would get this month, so now looking like only one or two points for the month.0 -
After 40 games last time we were in the championship. We are 2 points better off

Well... That was awful....Did anyone else think that Bristol would score again because it could of been 4-1
That performance is on Nathan.
Subs too late but more importantly we should throw the idea away of defending first and just go for it as its simply not working.
I've seen tortoises move quicker than our players when their keeper fumbled the ball.
Jones saying after the game that we need to address our attacking defincies next season is hilarious... If we don't put away the chances now we're soon be in League One.
We are definitely not safe, we need to work much harder and for me drop Doc and/or Cov and bring in JRC, Coady and maybe Fullah.
As for Watford and Preston I simply don't know which Charlton will turn up but they better be ready to play 90 minutes and not the last 15 minutes.
Today was an insult and we deserved nothing.

Another close game where we should/could have got something but just weren't good enough. Our lack of quality and ability to dictate the midfield haunts us.
L Jones had a rare bad day, Godden's late show told us how far Kelman needs to improve and why oh why is Coady not starting ahead of Coventry?
But for all that we lose due to a Mannion error while Godden and Campbell should have equalised. City were wobbling after our goal but we let them regroup
We are nearly but not yet safe. We still need at least one more win IMHO
Dykes and Doc both did well and Fullah showed why he's so rated.
And the ref lost it completely.

Another frustrating and disappointing game. We looked completely asleep for the first fifteen, so open. Got a bit better from there but if Jones has an off day it's a real problem for us.
As so often the case the midfield looked so overrun both in and out of possession. Acres of space for BC to run through and then when our defence have the ball there is no one within fifty yards ahead of them - not surprising they then pass it sideways before hoofing it.
Absolute shocker from Mannion, don't see how anyone can try to defend that. Kam has had his share too but if you give Mannion a pass today you're just biased.
Similarly, others have said it but the hammering TC gets compared to other misses is just the clearest example of the unfair bullsh*t that is directed at him. Matt Godden is a outright striker who specialises in poaching and he's missed from a yard out. He's one of my favourite players but anyone talking about TC and not mentioning that is a moron.
Thought we looked much better in the 4-2-3-1, obviously BC were sitting back and defending then but even so I'd like to see us try that from the off.
Ibby looked class and Fevs and TC were also dangerous on the wings3 -
We are far from safe from relegation, what ever the Charlton live lot believe. Collapses happen, as some one reminded me about, 1971/72 season when we were first relegated to the 3rd division.4
-
Frustrating day, as we were clearly second best but should have got a point.
Yes we were gungho by that point, but the subs did improve us. Doc and Coventry in the first half contributed nothing going forward, but struggled defensively as well. JRC was so much more dynamic when he came on.
We look a much better team when TC is on the pitch, but his finishing is awful. Chambers isn't solid defensively, but is contributing very little also.
Other than his involvement in the goal, Kelman did nothing. He needs to offer more, as we can't carry a goalpoacher in this team.2 -
Agree - we're not safe until we are. The final 3 or 4 points we may need will have to be earned, not assumed.msomerton said:We are far from safe from relegation, what ever the Charlton live lot believe. Maybe we wouldn't have beaten Norwich with Godden!
The structure of our game and approach becoming a bit tough to watch.0 -
We completely lost the midfield, Jones had one of his worse games for us, we missed what 4 maybe 5 relative tap ins, and numerous other good chances, our keeper made a horrible error to let them regain the lead, we really should have still won that game.
Its glaringly obvious, as it was last season, our midfield is a serious issue with no one able to carry the ball or drive the game. With some of the players we had offers accepted but they choose elsewhere, galbraith sam fields etc it could've been different and we have clearly tried to change it up. Hopefully staying up gives us more chance of convincing players of better quality to join4 -
Another shambolic performance - even the defence went missing today. Poor mistake from Mannion.
Should have scrambled a point but can't keep starting so poorly. Difficult to watch.1 -

If you're only scoring 1 goal per game you aren't going to be winning many football matches, especially if you are prone to conceding first.
So many times this season we've been chasing games & hoping for a last minute equaliser. Its all same old same old. How many times have we been comfortable with 15 mins to go. Not expecting to be winning 3 or 4 nil, but 2 nil up & controlling a game isnt too much to ask once in a while.
Gah.0 -
11 years since we lost at the Den in that bad Friday game which left me and many who were there bereft.
The anniversary of that Good Friday defeat is always a poignant time and the defeat today has made me feel lower than a Dachshund's testicles.
Bizarre game when it could've been 4-4.
A rusty Godden miss two, a jet lagged TC missed a clear chance in front of goal and Ginger Carey forgot he was a genius and was also profligate with the goal gaping.
In a rare good move up front Dykes and Kelman had some good interplay before Lyndon scored off the post for 1-1.
Jones had a error ridden game with being at fault twice with being caught out of possession for the miss and the goal down the Covered end and gave a corner away unnecessarily and did a clumsy foul for their free kick which led to the howler. Ramsey, Clarke and Coventry all gave away free kicks around the box.
Mannion had a good game other than when the ball turned into a bar of soap from a free kick and he went from hero to zero (Don't drop him despite the cock up)
Coventry was off the pace, Docherty was hot and cold and City who had only 1 point from 15 suddenly had 3 points as Cafc were giving out Easter gifts.
Most of our players other than the Jamaican boys should have been mentally and physically sharp but it took Charlton 18 minutes to string a couple of passes together from KO.
We are such a frustrating team and we have to go back 15 home matches for the last time we scored more than 1 goal at the Valley which was on the 18th October against poor old Sheffield Wednesday when we scored 2.

He has got to stop fstal backward passes which let the oppo break just when we are on the front foot. When he did it today it was only a typical Ramsey saving tackle stopped a 3rd. The trouble is he has done that nearly every game, which is something when you consider he usually is on for no more thsn 30 mins. At this level consistency is vital.ct_addick said:What has JRC got to do to get a game….NJ tactics are pissing me off…fucking go for it at home and play someone who passes the ball forward….
And as for the idea we should start Fevrier at left back….FFS.1 -
As soon as oooaah said 100% safe after the 7 point week it was obvious we’d go on a major wobble 😂
We lack so much quality going forward but I thought Roy would have the better of us today and was proved right, please beat Preston on my birthday 🙏 struggling to see where any other home points might come from at the moment1 -
-
What’s concerning is that teams that are in and around us come in and dominate possession and we look poor…the football is dire…but as the cheery folks on this forum have said if you want entertainment go to the Cinema…0
-
Mannion cost us at least a point there, absolutely unforgivable blunder and should get absolute pelters based on the comments Kaminski gets
TC and Godden both missed glorious chances later on too, and given all of our defenders made basic errors today, it was clearly a bad day at the office all around
Multiple changes for Monday please4 -
We were really bad. The ref and the (East Stand) Lino were atrocious. But we have had a long break, playing a mid-table team that's just lost its manager and on a bad run... and we play a totally defensive team that sometimes had six at the back. How? Chambers added nothing and goes back the whole time - more than once has he looked like what he is, a boy on the pitch. A win today and we would have had safety, so go for it. A very poor performance but for me that loss is down to Nathan for being so negative on a day to go out and take it all on. We were on top for the last 15-10 (despite some breakaways) and why? Because we had a team shape that went for it. Though even then two golden chances went begging. That negativity has to change for Preston.5

Same old rubbish.Stumbling to safety3

I wouldn't be surprised if we get most of our points in the remaining away games, where the teams and their fans will expect to turn us over. Still don't see 4 of the teams below suddenly finding the form to overhaul us with only 6 games left.3
