As so often the case the midfield looked so overrun both in and out of possession. Acres of space for BC to run through and then when our defence have the ball there is no one within fifty yards ahead of them - not surprising they then pass it sideways before hoofing it.
Absolute shocker from Mannion, don't see how anyone can try to defend that. Kam has had his share too but if you give Mannion a pass today you're just biased.
Similarly, others have said it but the hammering TC gets compared to other misses is just the clearest example of the unfair bullsh*t that is directed at him. Matt Godden is a outright striker who specialises in poaching and he's missed from a yard out. He's one of my favourite players but anyone talking about TC and not mentioning that is a moron.
Thought we looked much better in the 4-2-3-1, obviously BC were sitting back and defending then but even so I'd like to see us try that from the off.
Ibby looked class and Fevs and TC were also dangerous on the wings
TC's effort was high, wide & not very handsome.
I'm all for not bashing TC but at least tell it how it was
I'm not saying TC's wasn't a bad miss, just saying to only call out his miss in that game is crazy. If he'd missed Godden's people would not be talking about the keeper making a good save2 -
Middle of the park comes up every week it seems as the main area to strengthen. Hopefully the budget is going be available to really reshape it.0

Pwr but I think Chambers is a lightweight and bottles anything in the air. We cannot play Coventry and docherty at home, simply put they are one paced and crab like. We need to put out a team that can attack, the abuse campbell got was disgusting and embarrassing, he was the only decent attacking outlet. Next week go 442 v Preston, play fuller and fevrier with campbell and be shocked....3

A performence we are all to familiar with and a performence that a lot of the firestick uses have accepeted. Do nothing for 90 mins and win by the odd goal or do nothing for 90 mins and lose by the odd goal, its incredibly boring now. What a horrendous advert we are for Championship football. Said before not expecting nor want us to play like Barcelona, A little spell when were on top or creating a few chances or even passing the ball quickly going forward would be nice once in a while.
I am so sure if the manager had a bit more belief in his team we would be comfortably mid table looking up rather then down.4 -
So frustrating to see it all play out predictably.
We spent 10 mill this closed session - we need to spend 20 mill in the off season if we are to build a squad that can actually be competitive in this league and avoid another relegation battle.
We can't take on teams and win - we can only soak up pressure, nick a goal and dig in.
That will only lead to a relegation fight every year.

Very likely we move to 19th with a 5 point gap come Monday.
You get the feeling that we can't just throw these points away with no consequences.5 -

Shocked by Lloyd Jones performance. Usually MoM. Has he been tapped up and knows where he's playing next year? Hope we keep Dykes. Maybe expecting miracles from Godden. Too late. Need more energy in the side - desperately slow and flat today particularly at the start of each half. There was little or no press today.1

We have a Championship quality defence and a League One offence.
If we stay up, we have to have a major upgrade to our creativity and finishing or we will go down next time.

Imagine how much better we would be with a Mark Kinsella type player in midfield, a player we signed from 4th tier Colchester. Someone who can do the hard work and give 100% every game, but also has quality on the ball.Rothko said:

I find it hard to believe that such a player was out of our budget last summer. It would have been my top priority, as even last season in L1 Coventry and Docherty weren't outstanding. Decent enough to get us promoted, but not of the same level as the midfielders Bowyer had in 2018/19 and then in the first half of 2019/20.5 -

Home supporters getting on the back of one of our own , pretty pathetic and embarrassing. Many other players out there who made poor mistakes and ones that should have scored, I didn't hear negative songs about them though?

When we're having a bad day, it always seems to be really far off it.
Have to deal with the here and now, but we had so much more energy and bite at the start of the season which seems to have disappeared.
Agree we need to be better upfront, but midfield is the major area that needs addressing for me. Kelman and Dykes combined well for the goal and showed they can do it if we serve them better.
Would like to see more of Fullah, one the few who was enjoyable to watch. Took a little while for him to get in the game but he's added some bite and drive that was sorely needed. Also gives TC a bit more freedom and gave us more threat overall.
Think we'll pick up at least one more win and some draws to be safe, just wish we'd get there a bit sooner.

So far, it has not been a bad first year in the championship. Weve lost by mostly small margins and won by the same. We need to not slip up on the Sheffield Wednesday banana skin and pick up probably 1 more point from remaining games. Then we need to bring in a few real quality options to strengthen midfield and attack1

We all agree that we need a squad overhaul. But do we have the necessary behind the scenes to achieve it, i have been critical of the owners for some time as i dont believe that they have to desire to acheive this.
They seem more intent poncing up the ground than improving the quality on the field. Or/also it may be down to the football management side who dont have the know how to build a decent championship squad.
If we stay up this year, and they dont do what's needed, no way will we survive next year. Going to the valley these days is depressing.2 -

Monday is a must win just to maintain the gap with all the teams below playing each other pretty much! I think we will be fine with Oxford and Pompey being worse than us.Didn’t hear the Campbell abuse and not warranted but that miss was a disgrace. Similar misses sent us down in 2019/2020 season and I hope it doesn’t cost us.2

The three coming down are always strong, Leicester are an outlier, Birmingham and Wrexham are miles better than the top two from League 1, and the Wednesday stuff is obvious from space.Croydon said:
