Well well, so those carefully prepared 'I told you so' speeches will have to wait for another season. Charlton produced a very good performance, this time with an injury blighted side to get us over the line. Kelman was excellent and was joined by Fevrier in that category. Clarke gives every indication that if he becomes available at the end of the season, we should sign Bree. Anyway, season ticket purchased for next season, time to relax in the sun.
    Told you so.....

[many lines of "yes yes yes yes yes" etc]
Just spent an hour looking for a ‘yet’ but
    I can’t see it anywhere.
  • Two good goals, defended well, Fev Man of the match.

I like Nathan Jones, honest, sincere and an inspiring speaker.

Well done Charlton Athletic, phase 3 begins.
  • Football made for days today. Brilliant day. Great result. Well done Nathan and the boys.

Objective of staying up achieved through sheer grit and determination. Now we can relax and look forward to adding quality to the squad and keeping progressing.

    COYA!

    Phew.

Two top quality goals,  what a way to achieve safety. And food for thought too, as playing without a target man, and with a relatively inexperienced attack, we looked more dangerous, and a proper football team (most of the time).

And credit to NJ that when he made his first subs in the second half, he went with TC and Chambers rather than the big lumps up front, as teams have sussed out our direct tactics.

Kelman and Fevrier with their best performances for us, and Knibbs was effective too.

Clarke wasn't great, it'll be interesting what Ipswich do in the summer.

Over the moon about that - it's on a level with last year's play off final. Shout outs to every player - including Clarke should drove my blood pressure into the stratosphere at times. But that was a typical Charlton survival match. And those goals. What an afternoon!!

Two fantastic goals, great spirit great end to the season.
  • There will be no doubt whatsoever who NJ wants to keep and who he wants to bring in next season. Early pre-season departures will be interesting...even exciting.

Interesting that two players that very rarily start but are both MOM today. Fevrier and Kelman.
Hopefully NJ will not persist next season with a big man up front, unless he scores 20 goals in the season 😆

Thought we were excellent today. Didn't think much of Hull especially as they'd spent the last four months in a play off spot, very ordinary. Then again I didn't think Dipswich were that great the other night either. Fevrier and Kelman were outstanding, both scoring fantastic goals, Kelman's goal of the season without a shadow of doubt. Special mentions too for Doc and Coady, both very good. The rest put in a decent shift. Clarke was poor again. Fevrier should have squared for TC to score at the end, would have put the icing on the cake. Don't know what to make of Kaminski. Made some decent claims, actually came to the edge of the six yard box to claim a couple but then, I thought, went down too easily for their goal but need to see it again. Then bizarrely decided to turn a low shot away for a corner when it was going well wide anyway and later flapped at a cross and McNair should have scored. Think we can do better but may have to wait till next summer to sort that situation out.

But it's churlish to moan too much today. We did what we needed to do and we achieved the aim set at the beginning of the season so well done to NJ and all the lads.

Hull were the weakest of the top 7 teams that have come to the Valley this season. Hull were so poor 1st half I was so frustrated that Charlie Kelman who scored a wonder goal and then Harry Clark who had a mare gave away the needless corner which led to the 1-1 HT. Harry nearly got booked but he missed his grab and then our raw Kenyan took out his man after 3 minutes and I was certain if he hadn't come off Injured he would have collected another card.
We were never going to keep a clean sheet today and could we get two goal ! Another wonder goal by Fevrier this time who can go from taking a corner and putting it straight into the crowd before his dancing feet scored an equally stunning goal. I would say Charlie's is the goal of the season with Fevrier just a tad behind but both sublime goals.

I don't think we have over achieved this season but we just about got there in the 45th game and it was important that we got a win in our last home match.

More relief that we get another go after so many home defeats of late.

    And relax...

  • I bet TC was spitting blood when Fev didn't release him for a clear third in the last minute...🤦‍♂️
I think he may have strayed off side earlier in the move, but I don't really know the off side law so forget I said that.

Not the time for questioning, but I will…

if we haven’t over achieved, who else do you expect us to finish above? Potentially Portsmouth, but who else?

He was onside all the while he was in our half, probably got a couple of yards into the Hull half, and had to check as he did stray offside

Fev played great last 2 games….swap with Tanto ? he looks like he could drop a few pounds and be even more effective

TC had struggled to stay onside in the breakaway. Probably better for TC that he wasn't presented with an open goal, just in case 🤣

Doc is continuing to make me eat humble pie and I love it. Another immense performance from him today. Him and Fev have been our best performers these past few games.
