What a run from Fevrier and what a goal it would have been!
The keeper was up and in no man land and we were entering the last minute so the main thing was the ball didn't come back into our half, TC did go off side so I was pleased he carried on his run and very nearly scored his self.
Yes 3-1 would have been great but if he played it early would Campbell has got to the ball first or would it has given the defender one chance of an attack.
I thought Kelman shaded the MOM but they were both excellent today other than Fevrier terrible corner 1st half 🤦🏾♂️

21st who gives a fuck? The reds are staying up ❤️14

Right, now the dust has settled just a little, and we know we are safe, we can leave some of the recent negative hysteria behind us and look at things a bit more objectively.Has this season been a slog at times? Have we been frustrated in the way we have dropped points in winnable games? Has NJ been a stubborn and prickly character at times? Has there been an overall lack of quality? Have there been some really poor individual performances dotted through the season? Has the confirmation of safety come far later and harder than it needed to?
Yes to all those things. But, and what an enormous ‘but’ it is, we have stayed up, nonetheless, and the players, NJ, and all the coaching staff fully deserve it. I find some of the negativity on here infuriating at times because, while I get emotions run high and there have been frustrating aspects to our season, the players have had accusations of apathy and spinelessness thrown at them that have never been fair at anytime.
This team has overcome having one of the smallest budgets in the division, overcome being a largely League One squad in a division above its (probable) natural level, overcome injury crises, and taken points off a number of the top six/playoff chasing sides. And it’s been done on merit, fair and square - the points deductions are not what has kept us up.
Their only crime, p’haps, is raising expectations that something more than just survival might be possible due to the way the season started, when the ultimate goal was, and always has been, staying up by whatever means necessary.“Just” staying up, in what is only NJ’s second full season and barely two years after we were all genuinely fearing relegation to League Two, is a huge achievement in itself. Obviously we hope this will not be the limit of the club’s ambitions but it’s a major step in the right direction and should be celebrated as such.
Getting here has been built on sheer bloody hard work. That’s why I find the accusations that they don’t care enough or lack effort so deeply unfair. The squad has its limitations but effort and commitment is not one of them.
What could epitomize that more than the last two performances of our, often maligned but also example setting, captain Greg Docherty. At the end there, today, he was literally hopping around the pitch as his injured groin rendered one leg non-functioning, yet he was still somehow contributing to shutting down players and making tackles. We’ll need to add some significant quality over the summer to kick on and it might see us move beyond the likes of Docherty, but we should all hope we don’t lose that core spirit that players like him and Lloyd Jones, in particular, have embodied all season. That’s a next season problem though. For now, I hope Addicks everywhere can give the team, NJ, and his staff the credit they deserve and raise a glass of something that suits their taste to toast a happy ending to a gruelling season.Up the Addicks!39 -
We made four subs, but we'd make them during the three stoppages, Sichenje in the first half, Campbell and Chambers on 63mins and then Dykes for Kelman late on.thetomahawkkid said:
Didn't we still have one sub we could have used or had we used all five? It seemed strange leaving him on if we could have subbed himfenaddick said:Kelman told Charlotte on the pitch that Doc continued on with a popped groin. What a warrior6 -
Nothing really. It was just about a positive, determined effort towards a collective goal is far better than going out "not to lose". The alternative is illustrated.AddicksAddict said:

Based on post match threads from this season we either need 15 new signings in the summer or we need to get these lads all signed up on 20 year contracts.18

I can now ask my doctor to reduce my blood pressure tablets.
All those lovely people who are travelling to Swansea are going to have a great day out and fully deserved too.

I remember after we’ve beaten Derby to stay up in the old first, we went to Nottingham Forest for the last game of the season and got absolutely hammered, but it did not matter a toss.pettgra said:I can now ask my doctor to reduce my blood pressure tablets.

Great end to the season. I must admit that when we lost our way a bit in the second half, I was beginning to think that we’re on an absolutely horrendous run at just the wrong time, and we only have one game left to turn it around.Thankfully Hull didn’t get a second and a bit of skill from Fevrier turned the tie back in our favour. The fact that we just needed a draw really worked in our favour as the game went on.Kelman, Docherty, Jones and Fevrier were superb. We really needed the season to end, we’ve done enough. A lot of credit to Jones and the players. We’ve got a good foundation to build on having stayed in the division, but we must add real quality in the summer. If not, we’ll be Oxford next season16

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🥳🥳🍺
Great effort great result!1 -
Kelman’s goal has probably paid for his fee.Hopefully we can just bring a bit more creativity in for next season.12

I'm not sure that anyone would agree with me but if the Olaofe/Fevrier swap was made permanent, I would be more than happy. Jayden Fevrier has just turned 23 so not yet at his prime, Tanto is almost four years older and I'm not sure if he can handle the demands of football at this level.16

I liked it when the Covered End gave Clarke a shout to leave the ball to let it go out of play.
Clarke clapped the Covered End to say thank you.
The Covered End clapped him back, to say thank you for the thank you.

A great performance full of pride and effort- wonderfully typified by our captain, I think Doc always gives his all game in game out and he has deserved his great finish to the season. To still be going for it despite being in agony typifies what you want your skipper to be all about.
Two fantastic goals both of extremely high quality - Kelman's goal is one of the best I've seen at The Valley for years. I'm glad he has finished the season with a respectable goal tally- quite a few vital goals in that mix too, he deserves it.
Jayden Fevrier- what can I say?- what a performance and what a goal. I think he is more than up to playing in the Championship - we really should try and get him permanently. I'm sure he would rather continue to play at this level than go back to League One. Surely a little swap deal could be arranged!2 -
