Literally let them take pot shots, and then take some more, sitting so deep.FFS England, finding a way to lose again!!
Depressing thing is that it's normally the same way every bloody time.

    Croatia in 2018
    Italy in 2021
    Argentina in 2026

Be the better team, go 1-0 up, sit miles back and invite pressure until they score.

Haven’t read any of the thread and it will have been said already, but if you think you can sit on the edge of your own penalty area for 30 mins and let players of that quality play in front of you then you are brain dead.

    Manager has killed us.

Fair play to Kane, he has called Tuchel out there without actually saying it.

If Guardiola is there you certainly make an offer I’d say. Not sure if it works at international level but it’s worth a try. I thought it was rumoured that he fancied the job.

Tuchel has gambled a lot and it hasn’t paid off. We haven’t looked particularly good a lot of the games and have scraped through by the skin of our teeth a couple of times.

Just really intrigued to see his justification.

Well I’ve been saying we are bang average, still think we probably were, but not as bang average as the manager.

Just conceded all momentum and initiative the moment we scored. Gave them way too much space to play in.

Every sub doubled down on the defensive approach and we got deeper and deeper.

Had nothing once we went behind. The sight of Dan Burn leading the press and Toney up top next to him sums it all up.

Tuchels in game management and subs cost us that.

Gonna get battered by France in the pointless third place game now
Saturday is the final that should have been.

Thought TT was brought in to change the way we play so we don't bow out in the usual gutless fashion, as we have tonight. His tactics and subs were so negative.

I think Southgate is too nice but in his shoes I'd be having a wry chuckle now

    Argentina aren't Middlesbrough

Imagine getting rid of Southgate just to lose playing Southgateball.
And a worse version of it.

We snatched defeat from the Jaws of Victory.
Tuchel has to own that defeat.
Shocking to be so negative with 30+ minutes left and taking Gordon off and putting Konsa on.

Embarrassing tactics by Tuchel after our goal.

Kane sums up all that was wrong "once we went 1-0 up , we just tried to hold on which at this level is not enough".
Why do we keep him on, no matter what... Just in case he has to take a penalty... He was awful today and was clearly offering nothing.

Why even extend Tuchel before the World Cup?

Call it a hot take, I don't care, but Tuchel has lost us that game.

We have far more quality and were the better side when we scored. Then he goes and does exactly what he was brought in to not do.

What the fuck was he thinking going that negative with nearly 40 minutes left.

He's lost my confidence as England manager.

And imagine if that had been Trent Alexander Arnold instead of Konsa at the end there.

I’d been a big advocate for Tuchel. I’m not taking a Scot in @se9addick calling me out for calling for his head after that. (Smiley smiley in case anyone decides to think I’m serious re SE9. I do mean it re Tuchel, though.)

Thought we were bad. Tuchel didn’t believe we could score another and im half inclined to agree. I can understand why he’s done the same as against Mexico and Norway but the point is that we should’ve been much better against them so we didn’t need to sit back.

We scored a good goal tonight but none of the players have looked as good as they are on paper this tournament, with the exception of Bellingham probably.

In the end he’s done a much worse job than Southgate because this was a much better opportunity. Going to be a struggle to replace Kane before the next one.

He never had my confidence, and has just proved why.

I said 5 minutes beforehand that we really needed to get to the hydration break. We did. Just.
    Now reset and take control.
I said the above earlier, but when the hydration break was going on, it looked like Tuchel didn’t have a plan.
He wasn’t talking to the group, geeing them up, giving instruction, nothing. All he did was wander round from player to player. He looked lost. Jordan Henderson was doing more to encourage the players.
I turned to my missus and said ‘Look at how the Argentinian coach had his team in a semicircle, telling them what the plan is. Tuchel doesn’t have a plan. We’ll be lucky to win this.’

I kept waiting for us to break out of the defensive mindset. Maybe after a few minutes? Maybe after the hydration break? No, he brings on defender after defender with no outlet. I’ll never understand any team sitting back after going a goal up. Not unless you’re peak Italy.

Southgate would get crucified for the decisions Tuchel made.

Just had to stick on saka and Watkins and hit balls over the top for the last 20.

Argentina were committed to attacking and both cbs on yellows.

Old tuchels bum went. Bottled it.

Sounds daft perhaps but we scored too early. Tuchel immediately started changing it with a view to close things down. But the opposition aren’t a Mexico or Norway. They crank it up in the last quarter every game and Messi went to work and it was curtains for England.
You can never score too early.

Leicester showed us that last season.

    Score 1.....then 2....and then 3.

The foundations are still good for the next 4 years.

Rice, Bellingham, Anderson (who really grew into this tournament) stays together most likely. Hopefully we can add a little more depth there.

Loads of attacking talent coming through - Ngumoha, Dowman etc.

Hopefully some of our out of form talent can pick it up (Foden, Palmer etc.)

We shouldn’t be a million miles off either a WC or Euros final, but we can’t fold like that again. Really really bad way to go out.

Even Southgate wouldn’t have made those negative subs.

I still can't get my head around the fact that twice they tried exactly the same corner routine and we still didn't close Messi or the scorer down when they did it for the third time.

It would have at least given them something to
    worry about.

I don’t even really mind the defensive shape in a way.

What we weren’t doing though was closing down long shots or even trying to stop Messi crossing.

It was bizarre. It genuinely looked like we’d accepted defeat.

Maybe the players had nothing left to give - but we just went out in such an uninspiring way. That last 30 minutes was not football.
