Be cautious in rushing to judgement about our young Academy graduates, I mean the Campbell critics are learning a lesson about that, but just as the Fullah cameos of last season immediately caught the eye, with Mwamba it was both eyes accompanied by jaw dropping yesterday.
I have never heard a chant for a graduate happen so early in their Charlton career as I heard from our covered end support yesterday, and there is a lot to be said for the wisdom of crowds.
Left us to join Leeds when he was 19.
He did have about 90 games for us, now days they have half a dozen or none at all. Mason Burstow should be a lesson to those thinking of jumping ship too early.

Excessive mood swings are apparently not good for you, or a sign of troubling things, but after the downer at Tottenham we certainly experienced the upper in the Valley at the final whistle of this game.
It is hard to process that we are top of the championship after only three games, but with a full complement of nine points from three victories. It feels rather surreal, and so out of our recent experience that being top of the table is a bit hard to compute. But as of this moment Charlton Athletic sit at the very top of the English Championship, with only the zillionaires of the Premier League ahead of us in the English football pyramid.
What was exhilarating about this game against Preston North End was not the game itself, that was rather uneven, what was exhilarating was the win. Indeed that is Nathan Jones’ consistent modus operandi, get the job done, secure points, do what is necessary with the available resources, achieve stuff, get better, negate the opposition, be a second half team, be a 100 minute team, deploy substitutions intelligently and climb the blimmin table. That is what Nathan Jones says football is all about at this stage of our ‘evolution’, and if you wanna become a pretty team do it in small steps, but in the meantime do not lose and win as much as you can.
The first half of this game was rather dull. I didn’t feel that Preston had any particular threat, and I thought it was Charlton who had their basic act together and eventually they would ask more and more questions. Which is indeed what happened. The second half started with the substitution of Sonny Carey for Alli and the movement of Karlan Grant into what people call the number 10 role. Alli took over on the right hand side.
From that moment on with Leaburn and Campbell pretty phenomenal we just completely went at Preston scored a lovely goal from Karlan Grant and were never really in any danger of not winning from that point onwards. I feel sorry for the Preston fans who turned up in honest support, but they experienced the let down all football fans feel regularly.
Every Charlton player made a positive contribution, Lloyd Jones was phenomenal once again, and there was a really eye catching substitute appearance from Academy graduate Alan Mwamba (20 years old on the 15th September this year).
Charlton Athletic made a good start last season but injuries and inexperience caught up and led to a concerning conclusion to the campaign. This time around we have good players waiting to return to the squad soon, and a chance for a breather during the next international break. However there are more immediate challenges first, an away game at much improved West Bromwich Albion next Wednesday, followed by Stoke City away next Saturday morning.
Nathan Jones will make the best out of the circumstances facing him, and maybe the bread and butter of this league will soon have some jam on, or in the preference of some in football regarding Nathan Jones, maybe the bread and butter will have Marmite spread over the top.

Fourth match in London in a fortnight and there ain't a lot of money about. I'm not surprised at all, people have to make choices and Preston is by far and away the least appealing of those four fixtures.ct_addick said:Surprised at the low attendance…we do have some fickle fans7 -

I thought in the first half we made way too many Sloopy unforced errors (basically passing to them when under little to no pressure) which will be punished by better teams.Second half much better but need to watch the line, offside way too many times.5

I couple of people have mentioned Mbick having a shot that the keeper saved for a corner. I couldn’t remember it. Now I know why, after watching the highlights it was actually Melli Alli.2

According to Transfermarkt, started 27 games, came off the bench 8 times, left on the bench 11 times, so seems to have been in every match squad.stoneroses19 said:

TC was a threat all game and put in some good crosses with his left foot (yes, really). Grant is such an intelligent footballer with his movement and industry. It looked like the keeper should have saved his shot in real-time but on the replay, it was a good finish.
Buzzing off the 3 wins. West Brom's going to be tough but who'd bet against us on this form.
It was a superb finish.
Harry Kane would have been proud of that.

I get this comment last season but I think his forward passing has hugely improved so far this season. That cross field ball to Alli, the defense splitting pass to TC and just generally looking forward first more. He will inevitably have to pass backwards sometimes.
Yes you're correct second half he played it forward and his wonderful pass helped set up the goal.
The first time I can recall him making a pass like that.

Agree on the ticket pricing, my wife comes to a couple of matches a season and decided she wanted to come to this one. £35 + £1.50 a ticket in the north upper feels egregious.
