I could. I stand corrected as I hadn't seen his interview.
Wait so you assumed he hadn't taken accountability before you knew what he said???
I said what I did through the frustration we all felt today and yes I I do think he can blame the players at times as he references here. I had the bollocks to say I was wrong on this occasion. I don't need a snarky keyboard warrior response.
You just happened to hit a pet peeve of mine. When things are bad this place tends to exaggerate or make stuff up to make it seem worse and assuming he said something before knowing what he did is just that.

But fair play for holding your hands up, plenty on here just ignore when they’re corrected

The first quality NJ has mentioned about 90% of players we have bought to the club since he joined is "he's a good athlete".

We have an excellent running club.

Technically they look miles below levels needed.

Would love to watch a team like Cardiff regularly, it must be an absolute joy.

Listened to one of their fans on the radio in the run in last season, and it stuck with me as he said, whether they went up or not the season had been one of the most enjoyable for years given the quality of football they played.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with the recruitment, it's a lot of signings that are " good athletes" because NJ values covering ground and pressing and workrate so much. But as you very correctly say this comes at the expense of players with technical ability that can make something happen.

Surely there's got to be a balance struck here?

Think this is NJ evolving though. He’s always favoured strength and athleticism above all else. He’s now trying to shift to a more technical style and having teething problems

Hopefully the break will do the lads good and fingers crossed Chalobah is back. We're in a better place than I thought we'd be so onwards and upwards.

Personally feel Jones is too tight on the leash and has playing in such a restricted way like for instance, a defence/midfield that sits as deep when not in position as ours that when we do eventually clear the ball, Leaburn has zero support by the time the wingers catch up to offer options but by then transition of play has changed, other team is back on the attack while our positioning has gone to shit because defence is still sat and midfield has tried to push up and left gaps...it just won't work.

I mentioned before that overall, I believe the squad has improved but style of play and mentality hasn't. NJ can't talk about "evolution" and then not change a thing. Go two goals down....panic and go back to a back 5.

Higher passing tempo and much more direct play would suit us. TC and Alli aren't slouches though Alli was poor today but put in into space and majority of the time they will beat the full back. They can drive or hold it as defenders won't jump in on wingers if they can help it.

Overall, it was crap and the whole team should be embarrassed. Feel sorry for the fans who made the trip.

Interesting comment about players not being good enough for us, looks like we may see some more players on the naughty step.

Browny called it right, that Cardiff are the best attacking wide we've seen so far. They push up so many players, it's like defending against a swarm. There were 5-6 players descending on our box almost every time they broke forward. Not from any other side have I seen so many players pressing so high up the pitch, whilst in transition.

Their league position is definitely false and they will be top half/ top 8, come season end. I wonder what their net spend is in comparison. They say money talks and in the every league, you get what you pay for.

We have by the looks of it, another bang (below) average side, and we can't compete on quality, so will have to get back to basics of, defend, defend, defend, defend, break, defend, defend, defend, defend, as out midfield is no match for the others.

We were sliced wide open today and chasing shadows. What we lack in skill, we have to outwork and out muscle other teams, which I think is NJ only tactic all over again.

Having reflected a bit more, that’s one of the most disappointing away days in memory.
Think the break has come exactly at the right time. NJ and CF need a re think.

There were a couple of times we got thumped away last season, and showed some grit in the following games to correct it, and the run when Bell was out and we were messing around with Hernandez etc definitely impacted us.  Yet, there’s something about having to do it second time round that feels a bit off for me this time

My worry is that does Jones have enough to get something more out of the team with the ball?  As good as the smash and grabs were at Ipswich, Boro etc, it seems like we’re setting up deep against almost everybody now.  Someone mentioned it on here earlier, it must be a bit of buzz for opposing teams knowing they could see a lot of possession against us.  Yes, they know it might be tough to break us down, but they also know that’s us, that’s our game plan.  We’ve got no plan B

We’ve changed formation this season to supposedly be more attacking, but we still play a very deep, defensive and slow game.  Just about got away with it last season, but we’re very much a known quantity this season.  Where’s the difference?  Teams know who we are and what we do.  Keep patient and concentrate so we can’t hit them long with TC in behind, and there’s very little to worry about

It's a very poor performance against a team we are probably going to be scrapping against for league positions towards the end of the season. Credit to Cardiff - they played some good football and Moylan, imho, was absolutely the difference-maker. More progressive and better all over the pitch.

As others have said, I don't think Coventry and Skipp works well enough to generate chances and positive football. Both of them play as disruptive, neat footballers but you need to compliment one of them with someone better on the ball and more forward thinking. Chalobah works better, but like Burke, he's got the durability of a damp wafer and cannot be relied on. JR-C or, imo, Knibbs are the other potentials, but JR-C has very little pace and often drifts out of games as a result, whilst Knibbs has less quality on the ball and also has the same anonymous streak. Carey could also arguably work there as an 8, but is completely off form. Ouma is already a player that looks massively out of his depth, is a failed experiment and will likely disappear in January. I don't want to see Ouma again outside of emergencies.

The result of this is that all of our attacking players will look worse as a result. Leaburn is doing what he can, but like last season, playing up front alone for Charlton is difficult graft. TC is doing what he can and I think Grant can unlock things, but I genuinely feel he's getting frustrated with the lack of quality around him. I think Grant looks better as the wide player than the 10, but with Carey's form dropping off a sheer cliff, we lack the creativity of both an 8 and a 10 to generate opportunities for those around them.

Somehow, we need to find a better combination of players. Honestly, I'd start dropping Mwamba into more games and maybe look at bringing Fullah back into the fold, as they are arguably our only other options if the senior players aren't doing the work. Fwiw, I think fitness and the amount of games have been punishing for us, because as soon as we start to rely on our "weaker" players, the quality dips. I also think that some of the players might be frustrated by us playing as much on NJs leash as we do - it's just a feeling, but it's no coincidence that so many pundits predict our games as decided by the odd goal.

We need to find a better formula for taking games to people - that starts with team selection from NJ, so I hope he moves away from 2 holding midfielders. We outworked teams when their fitness wasn't as good as ours, but as other teams catch up and the schedule becomes more punishing, the approach doesn't work.

We have what we have until January, but I hope we're looking to identify targets for out midfield already.

Long old day there and back. Bar the keeper and Leaburn everyone else was poor.

Happy just to be a goal down at halftime as it could have been 5-1. Changes were needed and thankfully the woeful Alli was replaced but the equally woeful Ouma was given a go instead.

Grant’s chance at 2-1 was a big one and it was soon game over with Cardiff got there 3rd

No wins in 5 now and a lot of thinking for Jones to do for the Bristol City game in 3 weeks time.

A fair few of those can have no complaints if they are not selected next time out.

You can’t plan for individual mistakes Jones and Bindon third goal wins any game was excellent strike .. yet Grant makes it 2-2 and who knows .. I think we need to go back to our 352 away from home we are two open …. but now it  really shows up the two poor ref decsions v QPR and Pompey …. But still have 12 points now we have time to get players back and be in a better place after the international break ..

Ouma done ok when he come on again Skipp and Coventry were very good but outnumbered at times .. good to see Kelman on the shoulder of the last defender that’s what we missed  ..
    Maybe book an eyesight test?
  • 4 Championship windows, christ nows how many players in and we're still poop! Sorry folks but with Nathan we're doomed! Genuinely, I hate to say it.
  • TC is far too good for us. Carrying our attack.

Miles has been a hero for us in a thankless role. Kelman not a terrible player but utterly useless in this system.

Ouma doesn’t look like a professional footballer.

Okonkwo saving us from greater embarrassment.

Karlan looks a yard short since he rejoined. Bad decision making and no sharpness.

The system is failing us. Since the Stoke game we’ve been figured out and we’re unable to get the ball up the pitch. Constant hoofball to Miles and trying to find TC.

This simply isn’t an evolution in our style. It is identical to last season.

Those three excellent performances to start the season are covering up for some worryingly woeful outings ever since. Let’s not pretend we’ve been anything other than dead cert relegation form and performance since we played Preston. That’s not an overreaction, it’s bare faced objective truth.

NJ has turned it around before and he needs to do it again because recent weeks have been unacceptable.

Travelled to the game and made a weekend of it, and stayed over in the Cotswold.
Don’t expect to win every game Home or Away but I am so disappointed with the performance.
They are professionals players and if I performed at work the way did I would probably have been asked to explain myself to my line manager.
TC looks isolated and has poor service and few outlets when in possession.
Leaburn is a real trier but doesn’t have a lot of support. AKG is either to tight to Miles or in a sort of no man’s land.
Skipp is all at sea, and neither attacks with purpose or defens with purpose.

When we loose poorly we normally surrender midfield

For me the Surrender Treaty was signed about 12.40pm

Never mind off to the tourist trap that is the Farmers Dog

Koumetio returns and the back 4 will be fine. At the moment strikers are just playing on Bindon’s side and bullying him. It’s why we keep having to switch to a 3 so that Jones is then always in the middle to deal with the striker

I think Leaburn needs help. He is far too isolated. Jones has a bit of time to rethink but if we don't carry enough of a threat it invites teams on to us especially away from home. Alli was a complete passanger today both offensively and defensively. That doesn't help. Grant is good enough and experienced enough to find Campbell who would have had a tap in at 2-1. If a player with his experience can't do that you have to worry. Bindon weakens the defence greatly IMO. Coventry and Skipp are too similar and need to be fighting for one place. Skipp was far better than Coventry today but Coventry has had a few good games this season. Who can play with them?

  • I’m a Jones fan and an eternal optimist. I try and see the positives and accept there will be negatives.

But that was really poor. I always worry when the manager questions the desire and effort of their team. I worry when he says some players aren’t at the level we need. I worry when the same issues (namely the opposition midfield being able to run through ours at will most games).

I don’t know why, maybe because I sense a little bit of discontent in the squad and some uncertainty with the ownership, but I’m starting Jones may not be here at the end of the season.

I hope I’m wrong as it will mean we are ok this division but I just have a feeling.

If we have an atmosphere already this is going to be a disastrous season.
It’s just a feeling. I don’t normally resort to what could be considered a fairly knee jerk sentiment but the last two away games, and even to some extent the QPR game have made me think a bit deeper as to what the issue is.

I think there are some odd choices and decisions being made but maybe this international break is just what management, players and fans need.

All the whilst the money men are 'happy' being the bottom six of spends for players then we'll go down eventually.

I wouldn't rely on the January transfer window to get us out of trouble. I don't think there will be much money to strengthen imo. And even if we did we'd need to shift a few out due already being at the max squad size.

Problem is, we have to play Alli as it's been shown over the previous 7 games that neither Grant nor TC are effective on the right. Also, TC is too good on the left to be playing on the right - you lose all our attacking impetus by moving him

If Apter is fit after the break we might as well give him a go there. Alli is fine from the bench but not as a starter

No win for five league games, but still in the promotion play-off places. Still above the more-fancied Birmingham, Millwall, Southampton, Wrexham, Derby, Norwich and Burnley. I would have settled for that before the season started.
