Millwall at Hull today

There was trouble BEFORE the start of the game where Millwall fans tried to get at Hull fans on one side of the ground but police managed to hold them back.
So later in the game they try to break through to Hull fans on the other side of the ground!
Loads of seats thrown and game ended with police horses being drafted in.
Absolute scum!

  • Just misunderstood perhaps !
  • I'd wait for the full S.P on this before drawing any conclusions. Hull are no shrinking violets....have heard a few horror stories from the old Boothery Park days.
  • Sound like a hoolies day out to me.
  • Don't get me wrong, no way am I defending Millwall. I have no doubt that a large percentage of their "resting" fans came out of hibernation for the day.

Just wouldn't expect Hull to back down if they were being provoked.
  • Apparently police already knew that known hooligans were travelling to the game so it was already a high alert game before it started.
  • With the Tigers playing the Lions, what did anyone expect other than trouble?
  • Not on thread...Sorry AFKA but I hope Tevez and Dowie never have children.

I agree that Hull are no angels, it was pretty nasty there last season at the end of the game. On the other hand.....
  • Naughty spanners.

You're right though Clem, its best to hear what actually happened before drawing any conclusions - innocent until proven guilty!
  • Nooooooooooooooo dooooo f**k off this is MIllwall we are speaking of.

    Guilty end of.

Hull brought a lot of supporters, so the Lie-Anns just wanted to make sure they had enough seats to be comfortable.
As for the horses, it saved Hull a trip to the zoo so they could return home on time.

Never give Millwall the benefit of the doubt, they simply don't deserve it. Hooliganism and violence are the only real traditions that exist at the Den, going right back into the nineteen thirties, when the ground had to be closed on several occasions due to crowd violence. They were there, there was violence, they are to blame, end of. Not interested in their predictable whingey claims of innocence. Millwall=total scum.
  • Walking through Hull station on me way to Sheff was fun.

Few shops in the centre won't look the same for a few days.
  • It's got noting to do with football, indeed it really has nothing to do with Millwall these days. I'd say 99.9% of those involved today couldn't even name 3 of their team.

These are just idiots, no actually animals. They should be rounded up and shipped out somewhere far away. When details emerge I reckon the most shocking thing will be the average age of these tossers. Probably mid 40's and fathers etc. They are just pathetic.

Agree that it's all pretty pathetic Chirpy, but I would argue that has EVERYTHING to do with Millwall. Have said on here before that I've known honest, hardworking Millwall fans who themselves would never get involved in violence. However, they all - to a man - have revelled in their "reputation". They know they're shit - always have been - so have to cling onto something. Unfortunately that something id their bad boy reputation.

To me that's even more pathetic.
  • I agree, what I was trying to say was that these were just idiots who want to fight and just use Millwall as a cover.
Millwill 2009 is NOT Millwall 1978.
  • Millwall have a big game - it all goes off. Their entire history has always been the same.

Indeed, because the cavemen come out. Hull have a reputation.
Just imagine how many Millwall chaps will be ready next season to face our well known crew?

Bang on, it happens every single time.
  • They do revel in their tough reputation. They even sell official merchadise that is a thinly veiled attempt at intimidation. If they wanted to lose their "unfare" tag of hooliganism why would the revert back to the not original by the way attacking lion which was dropped by Theo for being aggresive or sell caps and tees with "we fear no foe where ere we go" No sympathy for them at all. Morons. Good to see we advertise their games on our OS though.

  • Shouldn't be allowed to have away fans for a couple of years. Or else just disband the club. Complete waste of space.

Absolutely. Little boys running around my son's school playground wearing official Millwall scarves with "No one likes us" on them and that aggressive "leaping Lion" logo. Five year old boys here I'm talking about. What chance do they stand with that reputation being encouraged by "Dad"?
  • Out drinking last night and in strolled a Millwall old boy I know with about 10 of his mates (all well the other side of 40) and a cuddly lion which was stuck on the back of their coach and a load of other cuddly toys. "Never mind the match, we took over the ground, they've got a few less seasts now, got escorted back by police through three counties," etc. Each to their own, I suppose.

But what about the other cuddly toys they'd brought back? "Oh, the youngsters nicked those from the service station."
  • The Millwall fans demanded the return of the leaping lion and got it when Paphitis sold up - he'd replaced it with that retro-style badge to try to soften their image a bit. Paphitis did try to take some of those elements on, and was reviled for it.

InspectorSands, say no more. The definitive posts on the mindset of an average 'Wall fan!

  • And the first comment in relation to that story on the Newshopper site :

"its a poor day when you cant go for a day trip to the seaside and have a bit of fun.3000 away fans and 12 arrests is hardly news worthy is it."

    Says it all really. Vermin.
  • these continuing incidents involving millwall just re-iterates the hatred i have for them.

don't get me wrong, tuesday will be ever so sweet if the miracle of a victory materialises. but a win against smallmill would be on a completely different level. (and i don't mean div 3).
  • It's going to be interesting to see what happens with Millwall if they go up next season - EVERY club has older blokes who insist it was better in 1978, EVERY club has older blokes who come out of the woodwork for Cup ties to recreate those days. Not much point in being holier than thou about it, it happens. One of those Millwall blokes last night was a millionaire businessman who sees them home and away, every match. It takes all sorts to make a world.

Trouble with Millwall is that that element seemed to be the *majority* of their fan base, and until the Kenny Jackett started to put a team together, it looked like they were heading into the sunset like their old hoolie fans. Now John T Cheeseburger III or whoever it is that owns them now suddenly has a football team on his hands rather than the lease to a rusty stadium off the Old Kent Road, it'll be interesting to see if he puts his hands in his pockets to try to build them up again - and if they can build their fanbase up again. Unless they miraculously end up in the Premier League, I can't see it happening.
  • They condemn themselves out of their own mouths. And they don't have the wit to realise it!
