I'll be there too. I'm a qualified chartered accountant & finance director, if that's going to be of any use to anybody. Mrs Red_Pete is a demon administrator too. I just need to understand what's needed.

Meeting is tuesday 4 August at the conservative club in Charlton Church Lane.
Confirmed with rep from supporters direct for 7.00pm start assuming that suits the majority.
Balls, was going to be in London but now have to fly to New York that morning. Like Prague Henry I can't be much practical help but will support you and others in any way I can.
Extract From the Supporters Direct FREQUENTLY-ASKED-QUESTIONS which feels quite pertinent at the moment.
ARE TRUSTS USUALLY FORMED WHEN A CLUB'S IN CRISIS OR FACING CLOSURE?
Many are, and the most spectacular successes and growth are usually at a club in
crisis, where people fear their club could become extinct. That acts as a rallying call,
and people make sacrifices that they might normally not make. However, plenty of
clubs aren't in dire crisis or even in any crisis at all at the moment. The crisis is the
'future' – who knows what tomorrow might bring – new owners, massive debts.
Football in particular – though a sport like rugby league too sometimes – is an eventful
sport, and clubs rarely have a period of settled calm where nothing serious happens
to them. At these types of clubs, the trust can act as an insurance policy against that
day, should it ever come. If owners change, it's there to remind the new people that
the fans love and care for the club and their interests need to be protected and their
voice listened to. They're also there to be a vehicle to save the club should things go
badly wrong, though of course no-one ever wants to see that happening.
Depending on time constraints I don't mind doing a marketing type role in terms of promotion of the trust, literature etc if and when it gets off of the ground.
Would be keen to have some similar minded people/team as I can imagine its a big job.
Because I am not a city high flyer I cannot make that meeting but I will help in whatever way I can. I am good at organising things, in the fact that I can hassle people as good as anyone I have ever met
Unfortunately will be on hols for the meeting, but could offer my help to WSS on the marketing/promotion side as things move forward as I'm a graphic designer.
All things being equal I will be there. Be interesting to get a handle on what it entails and how we can go forward with it. It just sucks feeling so powerless especially when you see the club freefalling through the divisions as it has the last few years. So I'll be there.
having read the stuff I printed off from the website I think it's a great idea. Perhaps we should have done it a while ago. IF some Director's are prepared to write-off their debt to enable a take-over maybe they might have considered donating their shares to the Trust.
absolutely snowed under at work at the moment (shouldn't moan really!), will try and get along to the meeting and help if there's anything I can assist with.

You are sadly right. Glynne Jones who runs the mailing list tried to get some interest in it a few years ago, but he didnt get support from 'influential' people there because it was argued that we were so well run, and had such a good relationship with the Board, and people held shares, and there was a Supporters' Director - that it had no purpose. I'm ashamed to say I went along with all that.

Which one? : - )
It's an open meeting and anyone can attend. I'd be happy for any of them to come along if they want to.

If they want. Why not?

Git! I chased back to check my spelling
