[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]having read the stuff I printed off from the website I think it's a great idea. Perhaps we should have done it a while ago.
You are sadly right. Glynne Jones who runs the mailing list tried to get some interest in it a few years ago, but he didnt get support from 'influential' people there because it was argued that we were so well run, and had such a good relationship with the Board, and people held shares, and there was a Supporters' Director - that it had no purpose. I'm ashamed to say I went along with all that.
Shit...
me too. I've spoken to Glynne about it before, or was he banging on about it?, but I too dismissed it as it seemed so unessessary at the time. However, had it been done a few years ago we might now be in a position to influence matters somehow.
As with Large and Prague, I remember talking to Glynne about it all. As I remember it was deemed as being far to revolutianist to be needed at our club and at the time few could disagree.
Hindsight's a wonderful thing although foresight might have been more important. :-)
The timing of all this could not have come at a worst time for me, although in a good way. But it means I am having to deliberately distance myself from stuff I would normally jump at doing.
That should hopefully settle down over the next few months, but whether that would be too late to participate in something like this I'll have to wait and see.
I've marked down the meeting date and hopefully I should be there.
The Fans' Forum meets tonight (just among ourselves this time, not with the Club) so we will add this point to the agenda and discuss our potential involvement.
BUT I'm not going to take the lead on this. I don't think I'm the right person anyway and rightly or wrongly me fronting a Trust would be seen as a negative by some people.
I'm no leader but wouldn't mind helping on an admin side of things.
[quote][cite]Posted By: Curb_It[/cite]I emailed Glynne on facebook to mention to him we are discussing this, so hopefully he has seen this now.[/quote]
So far we have a mix of Marketeers, Accountants, administrators and carpet fitters. We need to start thinking about all of the jobs that will need to be done and who could possibly, and is willing to, do those jobs. Well done to those who have stepped forward already.

let's not run before we walk eh. IF it is decided to start a ST then I'm sure people will step forward to fill the necessary roles. BTW, I've spoken to Glynne Jones and he made the good point that we need to make this as inclusive as possible and publicise it to all and sundry. Is anyone registered on the OS Fans View and if so could they start a thread there ? The more the merrier.
Well done all attempting to get this off the ground, would be happy to help with any procurement/sourcing requirements though not sure there will be too much in this instance. Living on Kent coast would make meetings difficult but if an east Kent branch was needed would be happy to help just to upset the Jills, not that I have ever met any down here. Good luck boys and girls as the opportunity for fans to be involved with the club seems to of been gradually watered down in recent years and since the dark days of shithurst park has always been one of our strengths.
New to this forum but willing to offer to help in any way I can. Sounds like a positive idea that can put us in a position to influence the direction of the club.
Would also be good to have something for the supporters to unite behind again!
I'm a tax advisor and have some experience dealing with Trusts so I'd be happy to take on a role on the finance/admin side of things if I could be of any use.
Thanks to RedZed for posting on Addickted. Let me know what sort of response it gets.
Any news for Your Views or the mailing list?
SE9, saw your stirling work on 606. Would be interested in your input as to what aspects of other trusts work you think would be appropriate for us.
At some point you will all need to consider what you want the aims of the Trust to be.
Already had some offers of share proxy which is one way forward plus there is a buying the Valley pitch scheme that Goonerhater put on the table.
But what else? No need to decide now but worth bringing ideas to the meeting.
Supporters' Direct were very impressed that there has been so much interest and commitment already. Usually they start out with 6 people around 1 table in a pub but as I said to them "We are Charlton. When do we ever do things like anyone else?"

Welcome. If you, or anyone else, know anything about provident societies, setting them up etc etc that would be very useful
Like PragueAddick and ChicagoAddick, I can't be there - but happy to help remotely if I can and will certainly join up if international members are welcome.
I also posted this link on Addicks Downunder (being an Aussie) as I'm sure there will be interest. Though most of the members don't get to The Valley more than once or twice a season, they're usually happy to dig deep for a good cause.
I've posted this on 606 but if those who are members of other boards could post it on them (even if you yourself aren't a facebook member) we'll reach alot of people this way.
Got a lot of responses from e-mailing other Supporters Trusts, I'll go through them all over the weekend, collate the responses and have something to show for my work on Monday
This is what some of the fans think of their trust at Rochdale. I had great banter with them back in the netaddicks days before we played them in the FACup a few years back and they seem a great bunch of people.
I'm hopeful there will be a few more responses in due course too as it is not long since I started the thread.
Hi folks, new to the forum as just seen article on Supporters Trust. Not sure if you need any help with I.T. but its what I do! I'll be there on the 4th just let me know if I can be of any use!
[cite]Posted By: se9addick[/cite]It's now on Charlton Life, 606, and Addickted - what other Charlton forums are there ?
Your Views is the only other one I know of other than the mailing list and CAFC Babes which have already been contacted.
Appreciate all the work SE9. Particularly pleased to see someone half my age (literally) getting actively involved.
Had contact from some well known fans with good track records of helping the Club and with good skills but my view is that for the Trust to work it will need some new blood like SE9.
There's lots of us out there Henry, we've just been waiting for our chance ! Hopefully this will be a big success which will give us our version of the last generations "war stories" regarding the Back To The Valley campaign !
I've made a submission to the Your Views section although it may have been better coming from one of the regulars on there but we shall see. I also e-mailed Tom Harvey to see if it would be suitable to be a headline on the o/s - I know it's a real long shot but thought it would be worth a go !!

He's picked it up along with a twitter about it.
Kap,
What was the re-action on the mailing list?

A lot of Addickted users also use this site, so it may get less response on there than expected.
I posted it on Babes.
