[cite]Posted By: Chaz Hill[/cite]plus Hull have signed McShane (as replacement?). Move somewhere looks very likely.

he was in Sexy Beast too, which is impressive...but I thought Sir Ben Kingsley (who I understand is very up himself) acted everybody else off the screen, even Ray Winstone, and that is saying something.

That could be very good news! Who needs a takeover, when we can rely on clever deals done by Curbs many years ago....

lets wait and see if we still have a sell on clause and didnt sell it on last season

[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]lets wait and see if we still have a sell on clause and didnt sell it on last season

But how much could we possibly have sold it on for???? Not an exact science, I'd imagine, unlike cashing in early on the Darren Bent deal, which was an agreed amount. Surely not????

Would hardly be a shock if they cashed in the sell-on.

Didn't he go Brentford then get sold by them to Hull for £350k as he was only a trainee at the club which means we don't get anything as he has already moved from the club before hand, thats like saying ipswich would of got more money for bents move to sunderland from spurs.

we were entitled to a share of 300k fee that brentford but waived in return for cut of any brentford sell on from hull.

Gambled part of 300k in the hand for a cut of 12m in the bush.

But hull might have come back and offered us cash there and then. IDont know.

Report on 5live just said the deal could be worth up to 12 mill. No mention of initial fee though.

    12 Million! what a joke.

    [cite]Posted By: falconwood_1[/cite]12 Million! what a joke.

Young and English, just had a good season.

Can understand why Hull held out for 'silly money', we want to do the same for our players especially Shelvey, and we did the same when Bent was here even after getting relegated.

Same with Lescott, Everton had no real reason to sell, so why not ask for £20m+ if a club is willing to pay that, and Wright-Phillips when he went to Chelsea, Man City got over £20m didn't they?

Confirmed signed for Sunderland on 4 year deal

Undisclosed fee but nowhere near what the tabloids have been publishing.

Confirmed on the beeb. Would like to know what the 'undisclosed fee' is, and more importantly, how much (if any) we will be getting...

[cite]Posted By: No.1 in South London[/cite]Undisclosed fee but nowhere near what the tabloids have been publishing.

Didn't Brown say it was double figure millions? I reckon it's £7-8 mill with the rest in add ons. However i doubt we'll find out if we got anything at all till the next lot of accounts come out.

Yorkshire Post recently reported that 25% of the fee has to go to Brentford and Charlton.
Making up some figures now, if the initial fee is £8M and our cut is 10% that'd be £800k.
On the other hand we may have sold the rights to the fee last year for £50k.

Anyone know what if anything we can expect?

dont you just love "undisclosed" transfer action lol

Nope, but that wont stop people making shit up.

I would say that normally a fee is undisclosed if:

    a) a club has let an expensive player go for much less than they payed for him, and the selling club wishes to save face (see us with Andy Gray)

    b) the buying club has paid a very large fee and wishes to save face over paying so much for that player, especially if he plays in an 'unglamourous' position, like centre back (see Distin to Everton).

    Hopefully it's the latter

Well if we get some money we didn't expect it's good....if we don't we're simply keeping on keeping on....it's not as if we have to pay any money out on this one. Fingers crossed huh?

We waived the fee with Hull as long as they took Bryan Hughes.

indeed, that signing certainly showed an eye for talent

SSN said this morning that fee was undiscolosed but then said in the same sentence that Sunderland has broken their transfer record again to sign him, so must be more than the £10m they paid for Bent
  • Options
If, just supposing ....... the transfer fee is for say £12 million, but the fee is £8 million cash and the rest made up of appearances, England caps, and whether Sunderland qualify for Europe and other imponderables ....... does that mean we get a cut of the total projected sum - or the initial cash payment now .......and pro rata cuts when other instalments are actually paid .....??

Also Michael Turner wasn't released as a trainee, he was something like 21 years old already with League playing experience on loan to Leyton Orient and Brentford, who were so impressed they bought him.

Curbs always rated him, except he commented at the time that even though Turner was a good footballer he lacked the necessary pace to play regularly in the Prem, and at his age it was important for his career that he should go and play regularly at a lower level.

For a bit of coffee time reading, here's some relevant Charlton content according to the Book of St Wiki:

" ....Turner was born in Lewisham, London, and started his career at Charlton Athletic. As part of a link-up Charlton had with Internazionale, he spent several months of his apprenticeship with the Italian club's under-19 team.[1] After signing professional terms with Charlton, he went out on loan to Leyton Orient in March 2003 until the end of the 2002–03 season. The following season, he was captain of Charlton's reserve team, and was named Charlton's Young Player of the Year 2003–04.[2]

In August 2004, Turner joined Brentford on an initial one-month loan, which was later extended to two, then three, months. At the end of his loan spell, in November 2004, Brentford signed Turner permanently, on a two-and-a-half year contract, for an undisclosed fee.[2] He was highly rated at Griffin Park, being voted Players' Player of the Year in the 2004–05 season and Supporters' Player of the Year in the 2005–06 season.[3]

In July 2006, Turner joined Hull City, for a fee of £350,000, on a three-year contract. Turner was Phil Parkinson's first signing for the Tigers, during his short spell in charge. Parkinson said of the signing: "He's a player that I've watched for a number of years, firstly with Charlton reserves and then obviously with Brentford. I like him a lot and believe he'll be an excellent signing for us because he's ready to play Championship football. Michael was the best central defender in League One last season and is ready to step up."[4]
