  • [cite]Posted By: ShootersHillGuru[/cite]Budgie .....You really can`t keep away can you. A Charlton fixation I rekon.

Its almost like he cares or something......

Oh sorry I got it wrong again......

    LOL
  • i doubt many of us wouldnt trade places for an opening gate of 14,000, but thats not the real point here. the key issus is about where our clubs are at right now. we are in a desperate situation and the pressure is most definately on us to get out of this division at the first attempt. when we were relegated from the premier i thought that if we wernt back up with the parachute payment period we would see cripling financial trouble, and so we have. the fans may still be coming but the club is in a mess and would take years to re-establish in the premiership, even with consecutive promotions. that said palarse are probably in a no better financial position what with also being out of the top division and they appear to be neither challenging for promotion or battling with relegation. as we all know the thing that people would moan about in the prem was mid table obscurity because its boring when you have nothing to play for. well this season more than any for a long time we have everything to play for, street cred, pride, financial gain, etc.

unfortunately in football these days it really does seem to be either playbing in the premiership or financial sh'te. wednesday got 30,000+ yesterday for a derby and didnt win, so their gates will drop, norwich got 26,000+ and go f'''ked up the arse, so their gates will drop. we turned up in numbers and got through the acid test- getting a win! its not something we saw a lot of last season and if we can keep it going then we will be there abouts at the end of the season. i dont care what any other club does apart from my own this year. come on you reds.

[cite]Posted By: budgie[/cite]Addicted you are very good at selective reporting, whilst its true we cannot make any signings at the moment, I'm pretty confident if the need arose, SJ would make the payments neccesary to have the embargo lifted.

As for not paying its players, I'm sure you're aware that the only players not been paid are ex-players, not an ideal situation I know, but as I say the players still employed by SJ are been paid.

but the need to pay the former players has arisen. The need to pay the players shouldn't be driven only by self-interest on palace's behalf of being able to buy players again. They are owed their money and are fully entitled to it. You can't decide it's not necessary to pay the players just because they no longer do anything for the club. If, as you say, he could afford to pay them but won't then that just makes him and the situation look even worse.
  • That's Jordan for you. No class

At one time he had over 100 County Court Injunctions out against him for late payment (addickted will know the exact figure) but he pays at the last possible minute.

No concern for the small businesses that are suffering cash flow problems because of him many of whom will be palace fans.
  • As I said on here before a mate of mine provides a service for him every year at one of their club functions. Sick of having to go down the legal route every time he now adds on twice his solicitors fees on to the original bill and has the paper work already drawn up to start legal procedings.

The man is a fool as in this case, and probably many more, his business genius is actually costing more money

Yes, and we'll be awarding special Palace Poor Attendance Medals to each of the people (including players and officials) that attends the lowest-attendance Palace match, instead of having a player of the season.

Even though the game was against an un-glamorous team (Plymouth), 14,000 for the first home game is very shocking, isn't it? Even Charlton got 21,675 for the first game in the Champtionship last season (against the equally un-glamarous Swansea). And a few hundred more when we beat Plymouth later in the season.

What's more worrying for a Palarse fan: not beating Plymouth or hardly anyone turning up to see it?
  • I think it futile to argue that Palace players wouldn't have walked into our side last season. I've seen Lee play quite a few times, and whilst i don't consider him top draw he is the complete antithesis of pretty much all our players last year. He competes and has an OK scoring record in the Champ. He is absolutely someone we miss and that's a player who can score whilst making defenders uncomfortable in his presence. Derry is 31 and another competitive player who is still streets ahead of Semedo as a midfielder. If Butterfield breezed into our side then Lawerence could drive in on an OAP's scooter. As for Clint Hill or Youga, hmmm well. Sears is as much an unknown as any loan signing, but one that looked excellent in his first season at Wham and certainly far superior to Waghorn.

Addickted I'm not saying they're a side packed full of world beaters but they are a side that one or two tweaks they could be quite competitive int the top half. I think it's a bit disingenuous to slate their players, the ammount of bad teams last season such as Coventry and Derby are pretty common-place this season as well; if not worse.

Whilst I don't criticise Jordan for pumping his money into the club it is a bit rich him complaining about soccer clubs whilst his brother, as Henry says, treats people like s**t and screws small companies left, right and center. Any financial mishaps is something the Jordan family fully deserve.
  • I hope you have a firm grip on that straw your grasping.

    You've missed the point.

Apparently we're just a bunch of premiership plastics and not proper fans, it's what Palace fans were saying year after year when we were in the premier league. On Saturday we proved how wrong you were.

    Bingo!!
  • [cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]yep we may have bigger crowds but so do leeds and i know what position in the league i'd rather be in and they are gonna finish above us for a minimum of 3 seasons running which isn't really great but we can take the piss out of their finanacial state when ours clearly isn't the healthiest but i go to watch football not look at bank balances and at this moment in time, unfortunately for us, they are better than us ...

Who cares? We finished above them for about 10 years running before that.

  • I think you're all forgetting. LEAGUE 1! ENJOY - SEE YA!
  • Indeed you will next season.
  • Although this has turned out into a bit of a trainspotters thread its worth pointing out that we are bigger than Fulham, Wigan, Hull, Bolton, Blackburn, Burnley and Pompey.

But I would gladly swap places with all of them

    Great come back Trig.

You said that already. Now you have to think of something new. Give it a few hours and I'm sure you will manage it.

I doubt Warnockbraincell's is even a real person Henry.

From the looks of it he's just a computer, programmed to add the same comeback no matter what is said........ They seem to have quite a few of these running on BBS.
