The remains of what was one of the superb bands to come out of San Francisco in the 1960s .. it gets a bit muddled at the end .. the psychedelic backcloth reminds me of the Pink Floyd light show of the early/mid 1960s .. https://youtu.be/PH0ZbfvQ5MA

    3+ 3 The Isley Brothers

Still blinging it back then! Never understood the heavy gold chain look, looks marginally better on blacks than whites.

  • This afternoon I'm visiting the very broad church of Folk/Viking Metal.

Today's random sermons come from Skyclad, Moonsorrow, Skálmöld, Alestorm, Finntroll, Falkenbach, Korpiklaani, Heidevolk, Black Messiah, Cruachan, and, of course, Bathory (One Rode To Asa Bay is a wonderful way to spend ten minutes of your day).

The Teskey brothers- Run home slow.

The lead singer has got a cracking old school.soul voice.
Teskey Brothers - Half Mile Harvest

    @carly burn is spot on.

You'd never believe they're white Aussie blokes if you didnt know it. Cracking album.

Edit: Cracking seems to be the word!

Crossing the Red Sea with The Adverts - The Adverts

The wonders don't care, we don't give a damn!
My mate does work for Keith Levene.
He was at a "function" recently attended by Gail Advert, who apparently looked really dreadful.
I remember her as Gaye Advert (didn’t even know she was Gail really) and she had the iconic goth/punk look off to a T. Sort of based on Joan Jett I think? Saw the Adverts at the Roundhouse, and remember the spit sticking to her hair. Yuk.

Anyone fans of Wire? Their first two albums, Pink Flag and Chairs Missing, were classics of the punk/new wave era, and they were big influences in some of the more left field bands of the Brit Pop era.
Well they’ve just released a new album, Mind Hive, which a real return to form, and to me is right up there with the first two. It’s the first new album in a long time that I’ve wanted to play repeatedly. I've even ordered a copy on vinyl for old times’ sake.
It’s on Spotify. Cactused is my current favourite track.

There was one after that one called Silver/Lead which I’m just listening for the first time right now. Came out in 2017. It’s also back the early tunes-based sound, which I like. First three tracks (on shuffle) sound very good. [edit: good, but not as good as Mind Hive, and a bit less Wire-y]
I’ll give Nocturnal Koreans a spin after that. Thanks for the tip.

Wire. ‘Mind Hive’. Bought it on vinyl yesterday, and sat down and listened to the whole thing while reading the lyrics and list of musicians printed on the card inner. It’s many years since I’ve done that.
    Great album, beautiful in places.
