Brilliant spell of bowling by doug. Still reckon kent will make hard work of this, pitch looks very slow. Hopefully under the lights the pitch will quicken up.
I think we should walk this. We don't even need to play a shot in anger to do so and as long as we play straight and work it round this total should be nowhere near enough. Goodwin and Cooke proved that it's not difficult to do so.
It seems to me that too many Kent supporters have been Charltonised!
This will still be a piece of cake.
Job done by 6 wickets and with more than half a dozen overs in hand. We didn't even need Billings to bat.
Now, I really think we need to bring a bit of perspective to this thread.
We are riding on the crest of a wave as evidenced by our last 10 results:
Beat Leics in CC Beat Sussex in T20 Lost to Essex in T20 Beat Somerset in T20 Beat Surrey in CC Beat Surrey in T20 Beat Durham in RLC Beat Somerset in RLC Tied with Surrey in RLC Beat Glamorgan in RLC
That's 8 wins, 1 tie and just 1 defeat. And unbeaten in the last 7.
In addition, three of those matches were against the mighty Surrey - with all their overseas superstars and fantastic youngsters so it really is about time that we started embracing this team. Because, otherwise, I fear our nervousness and negativity will feed through to the team.
So, please, let's show a bit of belief, if not maybe a touch of arrogance, for once ;-)

I agree that mentioning Kent's achievements is a good thing, though quoting wins against the Slurrey Brown Trousers is not exactly something to shout about, they are proper palarse Shiite.

That's not what they are saying on the Surrey thread and I have no reason to doubt them. Apart from their results of course.

Sorry who is going to finals day?? Who is higher in the county championship?? That's right! Both of those rake place without results don't they!
Your all getting excited about the fifty over cup! It's crickets equivalent to the johnstons paint trophy! No ane of the bug teams concentrate on it! All put put youth players and weakened teams! Only gets serious in he knock out stages! Dont get too excited!

Well, who gets loads of money for being a county who hosts test matches, Surrey do. Who signs well known overseas stars who usually fail to perform, Surrey do. And who will get knocked out in the semi finals of T20 and not get promoted from league two despite all that cash ? That is Surrey of course. Kent are basically skint but through some talented youngsters are getting some results. If we do well in 50 over cup, that is good by me. I doubt we will win it but I can't see Surrey winning anything either and with all their money that is pretty poor.

In the County Championship Kent are just 23 points behind Surrey with no less than two games in hand and on our current form we will comfortably overtake you once we have played those games.
And just to remind you that we have stuffed you twice this season in the CC. By 89 runs and 8 wickets respectively. Or do those results not count?

I have to hold my hands up and am pleased to do so. In June, the performances were poor and there seemed no direction and I criticised the coaching and captaincy. Since they beat Leicestershire they have looked a different side and the young players especially have really started to perform. We might not win anything this season but I am more optimistic for the future than I was.
It leaves me baffled that Stevens has never ever been called up by England for a limited over match. Season after season he is a model of consistency laced with some beilliant match winning performances. Butcher did allude to this last night.
All of these players moved to surrey for one reason. MONEY.
How embarrassing is that... We at kent are so lucky that we have a golden generation coming through, which should bring success in the near future
Just to correct you so Lanka has not played a single t20 this year! Tremlett has only played one or two when all other bowling options are unavailable..
I would also say Surrey have a golden generation coming hough but we are not throwing them in at the deep emd! We are using these more experienceexperienced players to ease them in to the team!
It seems to me that too many Kent supporters have been Charltonised!

Apologies for having a decent ground.. well we got to the final last year with a considerably weaker team than we have this year! Unlike you I'm not going to predict the future.. anything can happen in the T20! Promotion is probably gonna take more than one year buy we are building a team and thats what matters..

One observation all you Kent fans seem to have a little inferiority complex and all come across very jealous of the big money clubs! Anyway I'm off to my own thread I will leave yours alone...

Hardly inferior. The proof of the pudding is in the results and as we have beaten you twice in the CC and the T20 recently I would say that, on all known form, we are actually superior.
I suppose what we are saying is that, despite the millions you've thrown as the team in recent years you've actually won nothing. The proof of the pudding will be where our respective teams finish in the CC and whether either of us win the T20 and RLC respectively.

Was meant to say that I'm in a bar in Spain watching it and the people next to me (what are the chances!) are Glamorgan fans!
Hopefully under the lights the pitch will quicken up.
Hope I'm not proved wrong ;-(
Just like Charlton.

Well done the lads AGAIN ! Can't ask for more than that. We are top of the league, yes, we are top of the league !
Good post too, AA .
Trouble is, we didn't go to any of those matches and I still worry about jinxing it if we make the trip on Sunday or next Weds.
Anyway, let's spare a thought for that sadly under strength London team
....or maybe not.
( Please don't jinx this one too, Fanny!)

No contest in my book.
The haves, versus the have nots.
But , like our Charlton, it's sheer endeavour & team spirit that makes all the difference.
Come on you Kent !!

In fact, if results go our way, then we might only need another abandoned match or could even afford to lose both games.
