Sexism still rife in SE7

After closing down the second best women's team in the country because the men's team were rubbish, our farcically misogynistic board (or whoever funds the women's set up now) have just added insult to injury. They may pretend to pay lip service to the women's game, but WHY the hell didn't we apply to join the summer super league? Yes, we'd get turned down because of how rubbish we are, but we should at least have applied. The likes of Millwall, Barnet and Colchester did, why not us?

An utter disgrace.

Shouldn't the real question here be: What are they doing out of the kitchen anyway?

I can only assume we have no funds available to join a summer league

    Two questions:

    1) Floyd, are you going to pay for the running of the side?

    2) Hands up on here who would/does watch women's football??

    Thought not.

Perhaps they thought that for the sake of the long term fitness of the players a break during the summer would be sensible.

Perhaps they also thought that with players who have day jobs that perhaps it might, in a dodgy job market put undue pressure on their players to make them play in the summer and potentially have to have time off when employers may be cutting jobs.

Perhaps they may not be able to afford it.

Perhaps the coaching stuff already have summer jobs lined up and so nobody would be around to manage things

Perhaps they just hate women and secretly complain when they are not around about them smelling funny.

falconwood, women's football is way better than men's football, less bad tackles and more passing moves. Charlton had a really good away following when we had a proper team - 50+ at normal away games, 5,000 for cup finals. I'm going to the women's world cup in Germany in 2011 - tickets are on sale now, and I strongly recommend people buy them, Germany is the place in the world to watch football. It doesn't matter if people go to the games, it's about the profile of the club and we've gone from two cup finals and almost qualifying for the UEFA Cup every year to being third-rate rubbish. Applying for the summer league would show ambition to build back up. It wouldn't cost anything as no way would we be allowed in (16 teams have applied, all of them above Charlton in the pyramid, and only eight will have chosen), but not even bothering to apply makes it obvious that they just don't care. We need a woman Chairman asap to turn things around.

Are you on a wind up?
Womens football is better than mens!
And you've got the hump because we haven't applied for a summer league that we wouldn't be allowed into anyway.
  • Options
is this a wind-up or for real ??

Women's football is for women who are frustrated that they were not born a man. No-one is interested other than those that participate in it, their families and a few odd perverts (in my opinion that is).

are you seriously saying you have the hump because the club did not apply for something it would not have been accepted for?

Oh why bother just a crap ill informed wind up rant.

Shouldn't you be cooking dinner instead of moaning that we should waste our time applying for a leauge that we can't get into. ;-)
If womens football was better than mens then why do you get such different crowds watching ?.

Really what part of it is ill informed? The deadline for applications was last Friday. 16 clubs applied. Charlton shamefully didn't. This is no doubt the first you have even heard of it. Which would by definition make YOU the ill informed one, wouldn't it?

This is not sexism. Sexism is treating females as inferior to male's despite their being equal.

Men's football is CLEARLY more popular and therefore important than women's football. Therefore it is not sexist to treat it as such.

If cost cutting measures can be taken with the womens team in order to ensure the long-term stability of the club ( ie the mens team ) then so be it.

Really good away following - 50 . That's not many more than you get watching your kids team play on a Sunday.

Your right of course hardly anyone cares apart from you and the said 50.

The top womens footballer (a Brazilian named Marta for those that didn't know), earns a reported 250k a year playing in the new US league. That's roughly what Ronaldo takes home every week.
