As the aussie is a shopping centre developer (Westfield) doesn't seem to be much in it for him unless he can turn Selhurst Park into a public lavatory Retail Park.
On the other hand he is very rich and a long standing football fan.
Ah, now that's a cunning plan. Buy the club and the ground at a knock down price, do a deal with the council on the section 106 agreement, and voila! Westfield Thornton Heath follows on from Westfield Shepherds Bush and Westfield Stratford, and the thought of all those lovely new jobs in the borough miraculously overcomes the recreational use requirement. Meanwhile Palace get shunted off to a purpose built shoebox somewhere in Croydon.

That is Jordan Horse........................ no wait a minute.........................Cow, no hold on ................................. Bull, yeah that's it, Jordan Bullsh!t
but like most Nigels, you'll hang on his every word.
Anyways, how much are you going to donate to the up and coming "save the Palace fund" ? so many people out there wanting to buy into "one of the best academys in the country" that CPFC 2010 are going to give the fans first dibs.
Man City's academy brought through Ireland, Richards, Sturridge, SWP, Onuoha and even Barton so i think their academy is a bit better than Palace's as well.
Thought Finnan was at Wimbledon and then Welling but even if true seems unlikely that someone would buy Palace because they had Steve Finnin 17/18 years ago
[cite]Posted By: churley1[/cite]Have you had a Champions League and Uefa Cup winner come from your academy? We have - Steve Finnan.
"Finnan was born in the Janesboro area of Limerick City, and moved to Chelmsford, England at a young age. He began his career playing in Wimbledon's youth system, but he joined non-League Welling United in 1993 after being released at the age of 16. He signed and turned professional with Birmingham City in 1995, who paid a fee of £100,000 to Welling United to acquire his services"
Palace clearly had a MAJOR part to play in his career there then!
[cite]Posted By: paulbaconsarnie[/cite]Perhaps churley meant selhurst rather than palace, as it seems finnan was at wimbledon whilst they were using selhurst.
Churley - As you well know Palace are forced to play quite a few youngsters because they have a very small squad. Just because a lot of youngsters are playing, it doesn't mean you have a great academy. If you had money and a bigger squad then most of these kids would be nowhere near your first team.
Watson gets the odd game for Wigan.
Moses is a bench warmer for Wigan.
Bostock isn't even a bench warmer for Spurs.
Scannell has done nothing after early promise.
Clyne may move on but it's too early to tell.
Any others?
Still it must have been fun hearing all the "truth" that flowed from the mouth of Tangoman.
1. "I've bought the freehold"
2. "The best academy outside the Premier League"
3. "we are not about to go into administration"
4. "of course I can pay my hotel bill"

Moses, Watson, Bostock v Defoe, Parker, Konchesky.
I'd say both Southampton and Middlesboro have better academies.
And Charlton also have 3 players in the England U16 set up.
We've even got Mark Goldberg's son so we must be good : - )
Edited for accuracy.
Surely that must mean 'world' (clears throat)
