It sounds like they're spending big to assemble a non-league dream side, very odd. Surely if they're offering that much they could obtain league players? York is one of the nicest parts of the country, a complete contrast to Crawley, good luck to him!!
It'll surely all end in tears for Crawley, there is simply no money in non league and lower league football. Even if they won the league twice and got to league one would their crowds and income improve significantly to make them sustainable. Reading about them they apparently had debts of about 500k which led to them coming close to being wound up earlier this year. Now they've spent 600k this summer. So someone somewhere has spent well over £1m on a non league side. They must be losing thousands of pounds each week.
Talking Crawley, I saw they had a bid turned down by AFC Wimbledon for Danny Kedwell just before the transfer window shut. They really do have a lot of cash to chuck around for a non-league club.
What kind of technical difficulties did Spurs have? This is the 21st Century, at a multi-multi-million pound company. Someone drop a paper clip into the fax machine?
It was always going to be approved, but could they not just say something a bit more believable?
