    Because his two previous attempts at trying to make in the English leagues were not roar away successes, so they have given him a year to prove that he's worth retaining.

    The club never mentioned the length of Kyel Reid's contract last summer, probably one less thing for some fans to moan about.

    Sensible really, we need to see how he settles over here, as does the player himself. Wouldn't be surprised if he's on a decent wage either.

    I don't think people are saying Francis was amazing last season but some of us clearly thought there was something there. Maybe we are deluded, maybe we are more astute - maybe we will have an answer and see who is right next season. All I would say is that if he is first choice, I would hope that he gets support from the fans as he is more likely to perform for us that way than if he is being booed by morons. I don't term those critical of him as morons BTW, but people who boo a player rather than the team for they don't help Charlton in any way shape or form. I remember being ashamed of our fans booing Kim Grant a few years back and the stark and deserved telling off we got from Curbs afterwards. Take it from the great man itself, it hurts the club.

    Look, the thing with Francis is he replaced probably the best right back in the League, and wasn't half as good as Fraser, ain't his fault he's not as good. We still haven't replaced Richardson with anyone as good, so it remains a position we need to improve. Francis isn't as terrible as some have made out, but can he improve. 

    Right back is one of those positions we've been blessed with quality over the years, from Humphrey, Young, Mills, Richardson etc, hard position to fill at this club

    francis needs to get the basics right as a footballer! I cant even compare him to other right backs we've had at the club if i wanted too because he doesnt even register on the scale.

    Solly will be the starting RB (I hope), Francis is ok as a reserve playing the odd game here or there. As we are still skint I'd rather what money we do have is spent on getting in three/four centre backs and maybe another LB if Youga doesn't re-sign.
