it was never meant to be a link between clubs, just a group of boys who went to see Charlton after a mate had seen them lose 7-1, and Charlton the fans still enjoy themselves, through the years off going we have met some life long freinds, it goes beyond football now, Charlton Athletic is the common denomenator in it all, but we've been abroad together in benidorm, we've had boys up here in close season, we've had sad times attending funerals of great freinds, and happy time attending memorial fundraisers, there are some attending a wedding up here this year, so as i say, it goes further than the football these days, i just thank Brighton for the 7-1 defeat, as this has given me some of the happiest days of my life, with some of the greatest people you'd like to meet.
densderry, its a lot easier to understand you on here than it was with you lot at that friday night southend game!... that was a very messy weekend (for me anyway) ha!
Remember when Dundee were in Europe 5-10 years ago maybe and the tabloids reported that amongst those arrested (after some trouble) was a Charlton fan. Remember thinking at the time, I bet that's confused a fair few people, who don't know about the connection
Dundee have always been my second team since QPR game when Dave binham got nicked for knockin coppers hat off. My son Joe always looks for Dundee's result after Charlton. Determined to take him to a game up there. Still got my Dundee badge from that day, swapped it with one of the lads. That was the season Tommy Coyne scored shit loads for them.
stewart, we're all bar one, dundee fans, SE7 to SG3, Prestonis normally a game we go to, this time it falls to close to my holiday in benidorm, 12th of may, and trip to Carlisle, there is one of us going to preston, (the non dundee fan one), he's taking his young lad, he's teaching him young,

Met the lads at various games over the years, back in the early days of the connection (The First time ever on The Strand after they got the overnight bus) and at The Goat House (Now long gone), dont know any by name but had a few beers with them at different times...good bunch of lads.
this one is good. I don't get the Celtic/Rangers thing on our scarves, what have they got to do with us.
Off topic (Solly) but over the years I got fed up with the "You Rangers or Celtic" questions. Never supported a Scottish team, so in the end went for the team who came bottom of the Scottish 4th division. East Stirlingshire & proud ! (though they did get to the play-offs last year......)
When I was a teenager, the first time I went up to Scotland I didn't stay in a cottage/tent in the Cairngorms or the West Highlands....I spent 5 days in Dundee staying on a housing estate on the outskirts of town!
Had a great time, though. Particularly appreciated the more liberal opening hours north of the border when we still had quite restrictive ones and the fact that some of the pubs didn't appear to have any stools or chairs because it interfered with the serious matter of getting trousered.
Despite being a lanky English whelp, the people were very friendly (with a great sense of humour) and I have a soft spot for the place, despite not having been back since then.
I've been working with a Dundee mad supporter here on the rig, Stevie G. A proper Dundee 'casual' from days gone by. Top fella! Even has the 'casuals' tattoo on the back of his neck! I've never had a Scottish team, and because of his enthusiasm for his club, I claimed them as my scottish team. And so to now find out they are loosely affiliated with us is the icing on the cake! Funny how things work sometimes.
I was at that game. Perugia v Dundee. Great trip, after many years out of Europe. Over 2000 fans had a 'minor disturbance' before the game. Baldybonce has turned me into an armchair Addicks fan.

Quite a few St Andrews flags on the fence and the strange look on the OB faces when they went up!!
