  • Se9 is in Eltham, SE London. That's where I was born and raised, parents are Scottish.
  • Tuesday will be interesting when the Russians play the Poles.

    No love lost there whatsoever.
  • If all the stabbing incidents and match fixing happened in England no team would be playing in Europe next season.
You keep saying that but where is the proof? There is none, it is just your assumption that it would happen.

How can you prove something that hasn't happened in this country? We don't have problems with match fixing and the one time we had a problem in a European final were people lost there lives English teams were banned from Europe for five years.
Wait, so your entire argument is based on what you think might happen, rather than events which have happened ? You think you may be persecuted for something that hasn't happened yet, despite no evidence that you would be ? That's a persecution complex at best and fairly serious case of paranoia at worst.

    Well said SE9

And Heysel was just one more incident after many others of English (and Scottish) club fans causing problems in Europe. It wasn't a one off although it was, bacause of the deaths it was the worse. Spurs in Rotterdam, Rangers in Barcelona, Liverpool in lots of places, etc etc

We have left that era behind , yes the hooligan element is still about if you want to look for it here and all over the rest of Europe but as a country we are no longer in danger of being excluded from competitions , 10 years a go this was not the case France 98 we were as close as we will ever be to getting booted. But lots of time and intellegance gathering policing has removed And successfully reduced our threat level

I am not suggesting for one minute that we don't have a following that will still be intent on Showing up in poland and Ukraine but nowhere near the numbers to be a problem this tournament

    Game, Set and Match.
  • English had nothing to do with Heysel.

    It was the mickeys...

Once again please so that we can understand what you said ?

  • It was The Mickey Mousers - Scousers, some of whom are saying that they aren't English, but Scouse, which is why they boo our National Anthem.
  • I wonder under whose passport they travel ?

The ones I've heard talk/write about it say it's because they are protesting at 'God save the Queen' being the anthem as it's not an English patriotic song. Not that they're not English. I agree with their point if not their methods.

    Same one as the Scots.
  • Heard from a few Out their in krakOw that the poles tried attacking English and Irish fans on the streets two nights ago but came unstuck when English and Irish fans stuck together so much for all English and Irish fans gettin battered out their.
  • Cool
  • No matter what went on before the way that amount of people could set about and stand back and watch was wrong
  • Don't understand why this was 'expected' and that there will be 'more to come' over the following weeks. It was RUSSIAN fans, not Polish nor Ukrainian. Let me guess, it was probably racially motivated too right?

The media are crying out for racial behaviour to take place it seems. It's shameful.

aren't england playing all their games in ukraine?

  • The most annoying thing for me was the vile coward that kicked the poor fella whilst he was on the floor, then backed off behind the others. I hope they find him and he is punished accordingly, but I doubt he will be.
  • Russian football federation are charged with failing to control their fans apparently

    Yes, Donetsk & Kiev.
  • its the lack of consistency, domestically when there is racism or crowd problems we are made an example of but everyone else gets away with it abroad, you really think that if what happened with fenerbache and galatasary happened in england uefa wouldnt step in, i think not
Again please give some evidence of where we are made "an example of" domestically.

You'll never win with this. Apart from murdering a large number of people English hooliganism has never resulted in a ban. Thankfully civilisation seems to have set in here, but not a widespread sense of irony.

  • UEFA are powerless as there is to much money in football -
  • Cowardly and embarrassing to watch, nothing to be gained by 50 onto 4-5.

Let's see what the out come will be.
  • Every Russian around for the Poland game will be looking over there shoulder
  • Agree with Henry......Russian travelling fans is still a relatively new phenomenon and attitudes to race issues in that country and many of the other former Soviet block countries are a long way behind the rest of he world in no small part because the Soviet block nations have not had any historical links and therefore immigration from people of different colour or culture. This will no doubt highlight the problem and hopefully the long slow process of education will follow.
    Oh, that's ok then.
  • I'm talking about both sides of the argument. Dull as dishwater now

I agree, people trotting out cliches without any evidence is tedious.
    Are you French Henry ?

    Yes, Donetsk & Kiev.
The England team are based in Krakow though and a few people i know booked to fly to Krakow as soon as they heard England were being holed up their thinking in theory that england would be playing their games in Krakow and seems alot of others did the same.

  • Is this the footage of some russians battering a few stewards inside the ground? Only footage I've seen doesn't show the start of it or what caused it, as SoundAs said, could be more to it than what the footage shows.

    Don't look too good though!
  • A lot of people seem to be confusing violence on the streets with violence in the ground. England clubs got banned when England fans killed people in a stadium before a European match. Other English fans have died in the towns of football matches. Are those confused people suggesting UEFA becomes the world police and dishes out bans whenever there is any violence in or around a
town where a football match is being played? BecauseI could probably come up with one or two rasons why that won't happen.
  • When ever England play the fans seem to take a millwall attitude i.e. "no one likes us" when in reality, like millwall, no one cares as much as the average fan likes to think.
  • Russia v Poland will be very interesting!!
