  • Great day for British Cycling. A long way to go, but a day to enjoy nonetheless.
  • Team Sky were set up solely to get a Brit TdF win, looks like happening this year
  • Plus look out for Froome, I don't know how well he has done this year but he was immense in the Veulta last year and destroyed Wiggins on some of the climbs.
If I only I was old enough to bet. The work from Sky today was brilliant and it really showed how hard Evans and BMC are going to have to work if they want to win the GC. The work from Rodgers and Porte was spot on and if Sky keep tearing up the peloton like that we may well have our very first TDF winner.

As for Froome I reckon he can get on the podium overall and Sky would've had a leadership crisis if Froome hadn't had a puncture on an early stage and lost time as I believe Froome is one of the best climbers in this years tour.
  • Another good day at the office from the Sky boys. Evans will have a go whenever he can to try and sneak a few seconds back.

Wiggins is expected to take some more time out of Evans in tomorrows TT. Lets hope so. Froome looking like a true contender in his own right in the future.
  • Froome came second in the Vuelta, and has contended on some of the hardest slopes in the Giro. There's not been a Brit/Kenyan rider whose done that in my lifetime: too young to remember Millar's challenges, can only remember his attacks in the mountians. Don't think there's any doubts of his qualities, especially after his stamina on 20% + gradients in again the Vuelta and Giro. The worry with him was injuries/tropical diseases that halted his progress at Sky.

Quality to watch Cav riding like a domestique and picking up bottles for the other riders. No way most leading sprinters would do that for the team.
  • A heroic ride by Pinot that deserved the stage win. Sky did their job perfectly and Wiggins should increase his lead in Yellow tomorrow. Again Froome is very good at TT's and he should make up some serious time as well.

    As Wiggins said, C**ts.
  • You can understand why people are quick to assume drug use is involved, so not sure they should be called c**ts.
Unfortunately everyone is tainted by historical abusers including previous TDF winners.

Yes I know they do probably more testing than any other sport, but the suspicion will always remain, just like with the 100m runners.
  • have backed Wiggo for today's time trial at 2-1....

I think saying Mark Maddiot looked pleased as well urging him on from the team car was an under statement, you could feel the passion coming from the TV

thought that was brilliant but personally don't think I'd enjoy that in my ear after 5 hours riding!

Yes, very impressed with that. Just shows the qualities of Dave Brailsford and the team. Can't see that happening in many other teams.
  • What's French for "Go on my Son!".....

  • Great performance - to beat Cancellara by that much !!!

  • I'd love to see Froome got top five, he's such a great rider to watch right from his early days at Barloworld when he attacked on nasty Giro climbs. He's incidentally worth a cheaky bet at 30 to 1.
I trust you got a tenner on that, Colin? :-)
  • I also feel so sorry for Tony Martin who is a TT specialist but had a mechanical problem in the prologue and a puncture today, its obviously not his tour.
  • Fantastic stuff..we are now the best cycling nation in the world..road and track, beating the traditional continental teams of France,Belgium Italy etc at their own game.Eurosport and ITV4 coverage brilliant.! Probably about to get first British winner of the biggest sporting event in the world Although walked in paper shop this morning to wall to wall front pages about some second rate tennis player that failed....Bizarre English mentality !
  • Do Eurosport still have that geezer who spends all afternoon talking about what he had for dinner last night - and in particular about the cheeses? Here in Sweden they have a couple of commentators who seem to get excited about any form of crash. "Vurpa!, Vurpa!" they shout.

Must admit Team Sky had a rather good day today.....
  • No they got rid of David Duffield....droned on too much and was too old school became an embarrasment, now mainly Sean Kelly and David Harman...although Irish Champion and www.in-gearonline.co.uk rider was commentating on todays TT...
  • Yep David Duffer, that's the man. Mind you, it must be hard finding something to talk about for 3 hours every day. Especially with no vurpas to talk about....
  • It amazes me how many people line the route.
They stand there for ages and the peloton passses by for 30 seconds and that's it.

Some spend the previous day/night getting up the mountains in their camper-vans too. A lot more Union Jacks this year so far, understandably.

...and then you get the ones running alongside in their Y Fronts, Mankini's etc.

Great day for Team Sky yesterday. As long as the keep Wiggo out of trouble and on the bike, surely the tour win is in the bag now, especially knowing there's a 50km TT on the penultimate stage before Paris.
