you say it yourself leeds fans are "restricted" on who they are allowed to take away, so i'm not concotcting lies you oddball, it isn't easy to get away tickets for millwall cos there is a limited number available cos you wont open the lower tier for them because you don't trust them or your twats to behave themselves
don't think charlton fans tried to get on to the pitch last year
you have a high %age of helms that support you it's that simple and i'm sure even you'd agree with that sentiment
Who'd have thought Charlton fans would bring this thread down into pretty abuse, violence and lies.

I'd assume it's a bubble trip or similar to what we do when we visit there. They clearly don't have to go to the nth degree to get tickets and considering they've bought a mob almost every game it clearly doesn't deter them as they've dealt with it for 20 years.
Who said Charlton fans did try & get on the pitch?
It's a shame a decent thread has been hijacked by the few who wish to hurl insults & jibes.
Who'd have thought it would be Charlton fans who would sink to that level....
i'm just saying millwall v leeds is aggro and i'm certain they will have restrictions on who they sell tickets to and that millwall as a club will not give leeds a full allocation.......... charlton v millwall is agg the common denominator amongst all this... millwall are agg
yes leeds are agg too but im not a northerner so we don't have much agg with them
and cut the patronising stuff
you lot are long of helms, i guess that's what we can all agree on
name calling or not that is prolly the politest way i can describe a %age of your support
5) Is there surely not an age limit for when people need to stop with childish insults like Scumwall, Millsmall etc? Struggling to imagine grown men actually giggling away to themselves as they type Scumwall etc!! We've got some wallies who do it as well, Charlton Pathetic, Wet Sham, Weeds, bloody hell it's embarrassing.
absolutely. No need for childish name calling. ‘spanners’ will suffice.
And Anoraks for you lot.
Blimey...and then there were three.
Now I like SLL - entertaining, long term poster And I like Bunny - newcomer, can be erudite BUT is missing a "Lion" before or after his moniker what about FreeThinker, will he cut the mustard? Straight in with an Anorak jibe though...
There's only one way to find out... FIGHT!!!!!!!!!

Get off your high horse mate. You support Millwall. Any attempt by you to take the moral high ground just makes you look like a twat. Oops - I said a bad word. I hope I haven't hurt your feelings.
Be honest, is anyone really interested in all this scum tosh being spruiked on here, trying to justify their Club?
I joined to talk about the development & I've enjoyed lurking for a while.
Not to 'justify' my club. I have never met a Millwall fan who is interested in justifying anything about the club to an outsider...in fact most are proud that we are hated and seen as scum etc. And don't mind at all playing up to type every Saturday afternoon.
Go on Millwall's most popular message board and you will not find an apologist culture - you'll find most are more than happy to be seen as c.u.n.t.s and deliberately play up to that and are happy when things like that Huddersfield news clip shows our lot kicking the crap out of one of their pubs.
In summary, some of you don't like us....but we don't really care.

Are you saying you approve or disapprove of that attitude? Because you do seem very, very proud of your Huddersfield news clippings.
Bunny I like the cut of your jib....but.... do you light fireworks for a day job?
I have a feeling that some on CL will rise to the bait. Sadly.
The funny thing is - given us Millwall fans are such hate filled scum bags boiling over with violence - is that I don't know of any club that brings out the kind of venom that we clearly do for a significant number of Charlton fans.
I'm actually taken aback by it - having Addick family members and mates. Yeah, there was always 'banter' (awful, awful term)...but some of the post on here I can feel the emotion.
Yeah, we loathe West Ham - but because we're told to and are brought up to. But it never approaches an obsessional hate...we don't think they're scum or should be closed down etc. We would actually miss them.
We just laugh at Palace.
We hate Leeds...but actually enjoy winding them up.
Some of the bile directed at us is a bit like that bitter, obsessional hatred City have for United...which is bizarre as you have never been in our shadow (football wise).
It's like we're pikies that have rocked up and squatted at the back of your mock Tudor mansion. Okay, we're scum...but do you really want us dead!
For the record, I welcome the presence of SLL, Bunny & other MFC fans willing to engage in a decent debate - i hope today's 'tensions' don't put you off completely - IMO the forum is all better for the occasional perspective of oppo fans.
For those of you frustrated by any 'love in' here, well as Elvis* said, "what's so funny about peace love & understanding?".
That's not to say I agree with or accept everything you say (or disagree with all of oohaah's points) - frankly going to the Den has rarely been a pleasant experience, but that's down to a number of factors (poor results, some of the 'characters', less-than-enticing neighbourhood). Bunny & SLL have grasped the dilemma - do MFC grow by becoming 'nicer', or retain their character & stagnate? I sense SLL votes 'retain', which would suit me as it will ensure we gradually get bigger & stronger at their expense.
As for our lack of passion, yep, fair cop (some would say I am part of the problem, I'm sure). We can't have it both ways - and neither can Millwall. But our future is generally brighter, and that'll do me
Not all of us Bunny, as I said before no problem with Milwall, I cant wait for the derby and whilst I feel normal service has been resumed with regards to south London hierachy wish administration on the Nigels only, 0 points from 6 against us for you will do...due to post blitz relocation to Stevenage there are more more Millwall and Addicks fans than you would think out here no problems at all just banter, dont see many stripeys though, thankfully

There's a nail being hit with a hammer, on its head.
If I could be assured that the club that has been in my family since the 1890s can survive on crowds of 11,000 handy, coked up scaffolders dishing out bile and abuse whilst bouncing between the Championship & League 1 I might be inclined to kept us as we are.
However, I don't think that's realistic. Cardiff have turned themselves from hooligan trouble club to forward thinking community club and have reaped the benefits.
Millwall have a decent base to build on - Charlton had lost a whole generation of fans and were struggling to pull in more than 9,000 fans on a regular basis, even after a triumphant return to the Valley, before promotion to the PL - and a catchment area with potential for a decent community club.
My aims (and I believe most Lions fans would agree) are to see the club as a decent Championship club with regular gates of 15-16,000...then maybe we can dream a little more.
Be honest, is anyone really interested in all this scum tosh being spruiked on here, trying to justify their Club?

Not one of those Huddersfield quotes mentions violence - so make up your own mind.

Come on Spanners you know you can't resist
Been around for 2 years, although don't post much.
Now let's get back to the regeneration around the New Den, or is it now called the Old Den? There have been a number of successful mixed use regeneration schemes centred around football ground’s you don't have to go far to see the impact that The new Wembley or in deed The Emirates has had on those communities, we are yet to see whether Spurs proposals get off the ground or they move else where. However centring a proposal around a run down rusty football ground with its less than iconic architecture is probably not a good investment decision; there is of course the option to spend millions in upgrading the facility or leaving it as an eye sore which it looks like what they are proposing. I would move the ground to the other side of the railway line, that’s where all waste should go now that’s what I call progress.
It has never been the 'new' Den, Ian...there was an old Den we used to play at, now we just play at The Den. Even the morons working for the Murdoch media empire don't make that mistake any more.
Also, Ian...that was a very long winded way to have a dig. This is patently obvious because the punch line was based around the idea of a 'rusty old stadium'...when if you'd bothered to read any of the information then you'd have noted the fact that the stadium would get a face lift - a re-cladding. Unless you actually believed that a huge company like Renewal would overlook the 20 years of wear and tear of the centre piece of the re-gen, having spent hundreds of millions on creating an attractive site?
However, if you are genuinely concerned for Renewal and their investment then go back over this thread and click on the links provided. Your fears will be eased.
Be honest, is anyone really interested in all this scum tosh being spruiked on here, trying to justify their Club?

To be fair, what happened at Hudds was rather amusing and if it was the other way round, ie, Charlton piling off a coach & sparking out Millwall fans who were hurling abuse & bottles on the OKR you'd love it.

1) Isle of Dogs is East End, not East London 2) Not heard much about the whole Eltham thing, know a few older lads who grew up there, will hear their take on it 3) Was there about an hour before the 1st Bexley incident, heard what happened 4) When have we said we don't care about Charlton? Some of you clearly can't read as others repeat this time & time again. Get it into your heads, we do care, we enjoy beating you quite regularly actually and we also enjoy how frustrated, bitter and angry you get about little ol' Millwall!! But we don't care about you as much as Palace & West Ham for starters. For many others who grew up more towards Palace or over the river, you're not on their radar. 5) Is there surely not an age limit for when people need to stop with childish insults like Scumwall, Millsmall etc? Struggling to imagine grown men actually giggling away to themselves as they type Scumwall etc!! Uboat has confused the quotes I put up from Huddersfield fans talking about The Den with a clip on the Huddersfield local news site showing Millwall fans getting off a minibus to 'have a word' with the little rascals inside a Huddersfield pub, who tried bricking a Millwall coach...something I refered to when talking about not knowing many Millwall fans who try and 'justify' our club or 'plead innocence' for it. Every Lions fan was proud of that clip. It's up to others to say whether they think that's wrong or not.
Blimey, this thread...what can I say? I've been following it and have been gobsmacked by some of the comments. It's pretty embarrassing.
I come from a large Millwall supporting family from Rotherhithe, apart from me and my 2 older brothers the entire family support Millwall, my brothers went to Charlton because we had moved to Greenwich. From the age of 5 (1964) I was taken to The Den by my dad one week and then to The Valley the week after by my brothers. We used to stand in the little terrace in front of the seats at The Den. My Grandad worked on the docks so did my dad and many uncles...proper Millwall!! My brothers never went to Millwall with my dad and all alone I gradually became known as the "Charlton fan", I remember the CBL singing "if you all hate Charlton clap your hands" when they weren't even playing us and the week before a match at Charlton they'd all be singing "if you're all going Charlton clap yer hands", it was a frenzy of excitement. Maybe because they never played West Ham back then Charlton was definitely the biggest game of the season by a mile. I stopped going to Millwall with my dad about 1970, he is 83 now and still goes every week in a wheelchair with a carer and they all love him down there as he is quite a well known character. I vaguely remember in 1968 or 69 some Charlton skinheads attacking the CBL (maybe soundasa£ will remember more) and after quite a big punch up getting run out into the seats along the side. I also remember a friendly or testimonial game against West Ham at The Den probably about 1970 where The Hammers fans took over a big area of the CBL and it was kicking off for ages and a "no mans land" was created between the 2 sets of fans.
An impression is being created that somehow Millwall fans are different from us, well when did that happen? Charlton fans are all trainspotters and anoraks and Millwall fans are all thugs. What a load of fucking rubbish!
I think Bunny is right and Millwall fans should be proud of what happened at Huddersfield, rightly so they stuck up for themselves. We don't do that at Charlton.....do we fuck! We have loads of instances where we have had to fight our way out of grounds up north or in a pub somewhere like Burnley. It's just that it becomes news because it's Millwall. I remember the B Mob giving a kicking to a load of Pompey at Leicester Sq back in the 80's, they were shouting "come on Millwall" at us, they couldn't bring themselves to admit they were getting done by Charlton. That's why you don't read about us in books although Cass Pennent does mention that Charlton took the Northbank at Arsenal in 1969 in his book "Terrace Legends" We have had loads and loads of instances all through the 70's and 80's and at loads of different places and I don't remember us coming off worse many times. Cue Goonerhater!
We are no match for Millwall in the aggro stakes, I'll be the first to admit that but it is just because of numbers...we aint any different.
What does annoy me is the "we don't care about Charlton" attitude that is spouted off by some Millwall fans over the last few years (not my cousins BTW), who are they trying to kid? And to really rub it in Crystal P have jumped on the bandwagon, who the fuck are they? Is it fashionable to say "we don't care about Charlton" or something?
We all know that's far from the truth.
And for the record I hate Millwall with a passion. No-one else, just Millwall.
DFT like Sparrow & I have said...we dont know where people have got this 'we dont care about Charlton' thing from. Never heard it. Perhaps it's been lost in translation...
ie Charlton fan 'Millwall aren't all that, the atmosphere at our game wasn't that special'...Millwall fan 'yeah, that's cos we don't care about Charlton'.
You know the kind of tedious argument that goes on..
But what it should have scanned like is Charlton fan 'I cannot see all the fuss about Millwall being intimidating, as it wasn't that bad when we played there'. Millwall fan 'Oh, well that's because it's not seen as a grudge match, more of a enjoyable local derby with our cousins from Greenwich'.
It was never like that for me, when we played at The Den it was a case of finding somewhere to stand and keep yer mouth shut. They were walking round the ground looking for Charlton, I saw a kid from my school once and he pointed me out, me my mate had to run round to the Ilderton Rd end and stand next to the coppers, it was nuts loads of Millwall stood all around us. We made it out and the kid from school couldn't understand why I kicked his head in on Monday!
There were always a lot of Charlton there though, the crowd was more than double Millwalls average.
For me it was always intimidating but I loved the buzz and there was always a good chance we would see some Millwall on the way home when the numbers were more equal!!
I think the people that are saying it wasn't intimidating are either people like soundasa£ who don't get intimidated easily, people who aren't the type to get involved so wouldn't feel intimidated anyway or people that are trying to wind you up by saying it aint intimidating and we weren't scared.
I can take abuse from Millwall, I have had it all my life and few would disagree that they have earned the right but I won't take it from Crystal P who we have always taken over when we go there.
The Millwall mob that were in Charlton Church Lane the last time you played us certainly got a rude awakening if they thought we were all anoraks!!!
If you go on House of Fun there's a thread where B-Mob are brought up, and are respected.
Like you say though, it's not that Charlton are all anoraks etc, it's just that a proper Millwall turn out dwarfs a Charlton one.
I think the two clubs have fanbases that are very similar as a whole - if you put our 'hooligans' aside for a minute.
However, the cultures are different. Jim, the office worker from Welling goes to Millwall, has a pint in the Forresters, with the scaffolders and local council estate heroes, thrives on it, starts talking like an old face, throwing in a few swears, gets to the ground, wher another 11,000 odd are all living out the Millwall stereotype, giving it to the players, chucking a few wanker signs at the away end etc etc
Bob, the office worker from Welling goes to Charlton, has a few pints with fellow Addicks, chats football, life etc, goes to the ground and sings a few songs, claps the players from both sides off and goes home.
At work on the Monday they both pretty much the same people.
