BBC If you're wondering why David Bowie didn't appear in person, he hasn't performed live since 2006 - he had heart surgery in 2004 and clearly wasn't able to come out of retirement and virtual reclusion for the Olympics.
70,799 small panels are mounted between audience members' seats to create the audience pixel screen. Each panel has nine LED pixels - nearly 640,000 in total.
317km of cable connects the panels to the central control.
Realising I've probably never watched a CS before & thinking what should be a party atmosphere , especially for the athletes , is rather disappointing . Don't want to be critical after such a fantastic Games but this seems like a disjointed concert to me and not what I was expecting at all.
If this closing ceremony was a bird she'd be a pricktease that never delivered.... Possible Who.... We got Kaiser Chiefs possible Bowie we got Annie Lennox possible Floyd we got Ed flaming Sheeran! Disappointed!
So we went from credible artists like Arctic Monkeys and Paul McCartney in the opening ceremony to flavour of the month crap like Tinie Tempah and Jessie J. Embarrassing.

Tosser, whoever he was. Bet he didn't do it in Beijing!
Not sure the Chinese or Brazilians could pull this off!!
Enjoy it/ hate it /criticize it , whatever makes you happy.
Quite pleased I couldn't afford tickets.
Glad the scumbag apple thrower wasn't invited back to the closing ceremony.
