Number plates will be missing, cloned, digits altered , anti reflective materials and hidden behind all manner of accessories.

If you're a regular user doing any of this the Police will get you.
I wouldn’t count on the police, TfL may have enforcement powers, and there is the DVSA Checksite as you exit Southbound but once again I wouldn’t put much hope in either.

False number plates are a Police matter whether through the DVSA or number plate recognition in a police car.

Funny how the phone story emerged after she put the boot into P&O and their free market capitalist employment practices.
Naughty though. But no Michelle Mone.
You are bordering on turning this political.

It's a right wing ferry conspiracy targeting the left.

Showmethewaytogohome got a political reference in before me, as was the post above about the announced possible charges.
  • Personally i dont think this new tunnel will make a blind bit of difference to the volume of traffic , when it gets to the north side of the river its all going in the same direction , are they just closing down all routes that are currently Fee so they can charge ? of course they are . They say that they have no plans to charge for the use of the Rotherhithe Tunnel but i expect once it becomes clear that a lot of Traffic will move that way they will shut that freebie down .

Sorry but the width restriction on the Rotherhithe tunnel means a lot of vehicles can't use it.

The new tunnels will also provide a better link to the A13 and the the North Circular.
  • You can build all these fancy river crossings you like, they wont make he slightest difference to your journey time. When you get over or under the Thames at some stage on your way to London, you will get stuffed with the traffic. No good building tunnels and bridges,if there is no improved outlet when you cross, and I dont see any way that that could happen.
  • By the way,i see the wonderful Sadiq Khan is up for a knighthood, what a fucking farce, this 2bob prick has done nothing but bring London to its knees.

    Absolutely not.
Andrea Jenkyns was made a Dame by the Tories for two months as a junior education minister, and for flicking the finger at us plebs when entering Downing Street.
Sadiq Khan has worked in a diverse city of around eight million people, his speech at the Diwali celebrations in Trafalgar Square in 2023 deserves a Knighthood for that alone.
Whilst delivering the speech he did not smirk and sling a V sign at the celebrating throng, but showed respect.

    Indeed.
However would you expect a post describing the current London Mayor as a two bob prick to pass by without a reaction?

I said the same to that post and yes

As for the proposal I am curious as to how the residents of the East And South East London boroughs will qualify for the half price deal. I am hoping it will cover the vehicles of all pensioners.
I have a little bit of money in my Dart Charge account in case I ever use that crossing, but every year I still have to tell them to keep it going (rather than confiscate the money I suppose) or I risk getting a fine.
I can imagine the systems/computer geeks designing some god awful convoluted payment and checking system that makes sense only to them ‘you just have to do this, you only need to do that, you create a password with two capital letters, three numbers, four bits of punctuation and five eeemojeees to participate, simple’s’.

You will have to register for the ULEZ/Congestion Charge to benefit and prove your entitlement. It won't be all pensioners but blue badge holders will be exempt of all the toll.

  • Jeez, more internet stuff.

Read somewhere yesterday that TFL undertook a consultation where 95% of people consulted were opposed to TFL imposing a toll

It was on a feed on msn and I cannot find it now
  • One thing that annoys me, and it happened with Lewisham Labour Council about the low traffic neighbourhood, was the notion of 'consultation'.
They actually said 'oh no, it was engagement'. I am struggling to think off the top of my head instances of meaningful 'consultations' by authorities that changed their minds.
For the Poll Tax it took riots.

     This.

It's alright TFL saying that there are discounts if you sign up for this or that scheme but the "scheme" must be EASILY to set up & manage. And I mean EASY.
  • By far the easiest online payment system by any authority is when you re-new your car tax when you get the letter.

and yet you manage to accommodate a VPN and seemingly inquisitive about streaming a game from some of your comments on here despite your suspicion of all things technical  😉
  • I assume the impact of charging and the new tunnel will have no tangible impact on traffic / journey times but will help fund TFL.
  • You could say the same though when they put tube and bus fares up.

Not quite the same. We haven’t gone from free travel to a paid for fare.

There is nothing good in putting stuff on the internet, it has to be kept to a minimum and kept simple.
