I do wonder how pubs like the rose in charlton stay open, can only assume its due to the football crowd but notice as season progresses and we are doing worse so does the crowd.
It does a good after-work trade on weekdays, around 4-6pm.
It seems that Taylor Swift's mention of the Black Dog (in Vauxhall) on her new album has done wonders for business! Just the place to go for a Swift 'alf.
I'm near the royal oak in Bexleyheath, they cut their opening hours and seemed to cut BT/TNT sports aswell. Think it may only be a matter of time.
Sad to hear. I lived around the corner from the Polly circa 20 years ago and went in there occasionally. Len was the licensee at the time; top, top man. Pub was immaculate and so was the garden. A really nice local. Not many of these type of pubs left now in built up areas.
Only one pub left in our village The Bell, top of the range Doooombar! and very few opening hours. 2-6pm on the last Bank Holiday, not sure their hearts are in it. But there's a cracking pub in the next village, Coldred. The Carpenters with cask beer at £3.40 a pint if you don't mind stepping back in time.

Spent many an evening in there. Great pub back in the mid 80s.

Yeh, it's a shame about The Bell. They have that lovely village green, a big kitchen but they just don't want to realise the potential.
Thats another one round the corner which has since shut down, think it was the woodman years back but recently existed as a place for hire called celebrations (still has the sign up) but since been boarded up and expect not long until its flats. I couldnt be bothered to google what it was called so woodman is a guess and could be wrong. Curiosity got better of me it was the Royal Standard
Bexleyheath has changed a bit since I was last there.
For better or worse?
I'd not like to walk through the Broadway after closing time.
Just the look from an architectural viewpoint - I have no idea what it's like after dark, although when I was growing up in Woolwich/Plumstead, Bexleyheath was always seen as posh!

I agree Bob we used to frequent the Jolly Draymen a lot and considered it a safe upmarket place

Was just about to say it was the Royal Standard but you’ve got that now!

live near it now, pop in every now and again - so much potential with the pub nicely off the beaten track and a great garden and catchment area

Very posh....but then I grew up drinking in Swanscombe, Gravesend and Dartford.

I do wonder how they are all going, even if they have reduced their opening hours. They're all pretty similar as well.
It's relatively close to me, i'm underwhelmed.
