  • Fits you perfectly
  • Wonder if anyone here knows what this was all about. Loads of riders came through Gillingham on Sunday morning, didn't think much of it until 2 team sky cars were following behind.
  • Team sky are running rides from Ford dealerships got one running from Crayford this weekend
  • Just done the London Revolution sportive must say two days of lovely riding with an evening of beer thrown in.
  • Aye - I know a few people who did it that said the same. Shame about the bloke who died on the second day

Was thinking of doing the one day event, but it was far too expensive, and I figured I could always ride it solo at some point (always wanted to do a lap round the outside of the M25, but a bit put off by the unreliability of getting the bike across the Dartford crossing

How was the organisation of the event?
  • Nice one, criss-crossed that a few times when i was out on sat. You had decent weather for it.

@Leroy Ambrose did a full london orbital a few weeks ago, getting across dartford is fine (done it a few times) you've just got to time it right. can send you the route if you want

Yeah, that'd be brilliant, cheers. I had a route already - nicked from Shu Pillinger's site a while back - but I'm not really sure it's the best, tbh. I also have this one: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/21197241 - but if you have a route I'd love to compare them and see where yours might be better. Reckon if I start at about 4AM, I should be done by early afternoon, provided the weather isn't too grim

    Are you on Strava?
  • This was the ride we did: https://www.strava.com/activities/926010104 & my strava.

You can probably make the bit through Surrey more interesting. Our route was completely on road, but it would be fun to do one with more gravel roads etc. We set off at 6am and were done by ten but that includes the bit coming in & out of London & a few punctures. Check the Dartford tunnel website as you can only go through the tunnel at certain times so that might dictate when you start.
  • Has anyone got any experience with BOA fastening on Fizik shoes? Wire has come away from one of the dials and am wondering how hard it is to fix?
  • Tip from Belgium: Duct tape.

  • The event was very organised loads of bits to eat at the pit stops loads of cars and motorbikes supporting the riders already thinking about next year
  • @olster Did you ctually cycle through the tunnel?! Thought you had to get a little flatbed can to pick you up and take you across?
  • @Clem_Snide have you seen this? https://www.theboasystem.com/repair (nice to see a company promoting how to fix their products).

@Leroy Ambrose no cycling - you put the bike on the back of a truck and they drive you through. There's space for 3. It's a pretty good service, and free, but you have to go at certain times. See here: https://www.gov.uk/dartford-crossing-bike

Decided this week to ride the TCR route regardless if the race happens or not.

    My route planning so far:
  • Professional criterium racing will take place in central Croydon this evening.
The women's race commences at 5.30pm, and the men's race at 7.30pm.

Thanks. Had tracked that down. Just need to find the tool that comes with them to unlock the dial.

I don't actually think the wire has snapped, just come free from the cog.

    This it? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sigma-Sport-T6-40mm-Boa-Dial-Torx-Tool-/182578431725?hash=item2a8285c6ed:g:btoAAOSwSypY84mq

It looks like it's a standard torx tool so you'll be able to find it cheaper than that.

Thanks. That's it. You get one with the shoes. Just need to remember what I did with it.
  • It is a nice day.
I intend to take my Brompton to Lee station and get the train to Erith.
Then ride next to the river to Greenwich.
Last time I lost the path around Woolwich near the ferry and bogged off home, I am going to try to crack that one by going to the Barrier and see if I can pick the route up from around there.
I have to consider the issue of lunch of course, and get a bit of shopping to take home.
    Rock and Roll eh?

You can definitely pick up the route at the Barrier and I hope you had lunch in The Anchor nearby.
  • I didn't stop for lunch there, maybe next time.
Took me a couple of hours to do the route but delighted I found out the whole thing this time.

  • The food there is lovely and a good price in comparison to elsewhere.

I use to regularly stop off for a pint in the Anchor pub's terrace on my cycle rides along the river path. But last year they replaced the benches outside with picnic tables. You can't sit back and relax with a pint at a picnic table.

I don't see how you can "sit back and relax" before or after, as they weren't & aren't chairs with backs.

They've just refurbished the inside, some good, some not so depending on your taste.

I use to sit back and relax on the benches shown in this photo. Is it possible we are talking about a different Anchor and Hope pub?

  • Did Sidcup to Margate today via Whitstable. Picked up the Viking Coastal Trail at Reculver. Really cool riding that close to the sea and along various cliff tops.

Now feeling sun burn on my neck and knees. Decent 75 mile route though.

Was a lovely day for riding once the morning showers cleared up.

Most importantly, I got a pint of Hurlimann from The Old Neptune at Whitstable.
  • Any chance I can pinch your route?
