An enjoyable game this evening at Bayliss Avenue saw Erith town beat Harrow Borough 2-1 in the London Senior cup.  Erith could and should have won by more, creating some good chances. A good performance .

Erith will be up against Barking or AFC Croydon next.

Fleet have parted ways with Watling, Josh Wright in charge assisted by David Kerslake.

Probably too little too late, should never have been appointed in the first place. A gamble too far. Ridiculous decision when they should have gone for experience.
  • rChampionship - Not a Championship-related post but this level of pettiness is insane

Apparantly a fan was abusing the referee, the fan would not leave the ground so the ref abandoned the match!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems a legitimate reason for an abandonment.

Thought they would move on after surviving last season. Should never have sacked the previous manager. Think its about 1 win in 20 odd games though now if you count last season.

Dartford finally seem to have pulled out of their tailspin. Unbeaten in 11. Three wins on the bounce and from a league position nearer the bottom than the top, now 4th after beating Folkestone away in a tight encounter. Looks as if maybe Pennock has steadied the ship and got a team built out of the parts he was given.

Went to Dulwich v Cray VPM yesterday.

Dulwich were deeply unimpressive, despite a fantastic opening goal. I've seen them a couple of times this season and I can't see any fathomable pattern of play. There was a distinct lack of effort at key times too. This is a club that should be having a good go in Conference South....not floating about in the bottom half of Isthmian Premier.

Cray VPM were pretty good. They had some very decisive attacking threat and were helped hugely by a daft own goal. The Cray keeper didn't have a great game but they are a good side.

Was there as well. Thought Cray could’ve won by far more. I’d imagine Dulwich must have a far higher budget. Ref was rather card crazy. Not sure how Cray got 8 bookings

Went to Cowdenbeath v Albion Rovers yesterday. Game interrupted by wind and rain. Every player gave it their all and served up an entertaining encounter despite the conditions. It ended 1-1.

Most of cowdens players are in their late teens and younger. They have a great kid on loan from motherwell a winger who was only 17.

Shit ref as usual.  Although he did book one of their players for diving but gave away a ridiculous penalty.

    Still do stock car racing?
  • Went to the funeral of Phoenix Sports vice chairman Steve House on Friday, over 300 people  in attendance shows how much he was loved by so many, nice to see the team backed it up Saturday with a 3-1 away win at Ashford to take them off the bottom of the table.

Yes mate. But they have no connection to the club now, apart from going round the pitch,

A shame they have fallen out of the professional system.
Have been to both grounds and had terrific days out.

    Yes mate.....I'll be there.

We are in disarray following the unexpected departure of our coaching team and four of our top players.

    Good to see you @Simonsen

Didn’t think that goal was ever going to come. 95th min winner. Particularly pleasing as I’d had a bet on Cray after you set out Hendon’s issues.

Thought it was an even game first half but Cray got on top 2nd half and looked fitter & stronger. Your wiki man faded badly 2nd half.

Good entertainment though. Competitive game, £5 a pint, £2 chips, Hendon’s 7 ultras out sang Crays 4 ultras. A very healthy 744 there.

Yeah....80 mins on Boxing Day plus that today, was always going to be far too much for Wiki-Man after his 18 month "hiatus"

I noticed Kyrell Lisbie scored a brace the other day, doing alright so far in the national league.

One to keep an eye on maybe.

  • Went down to Whitehawk v Dulwich Hamlet yesterday for the classic "great day out except for the football match" - Dulwich were 1-0 up but ended up losing 2-1 to 10-man Whitehawk.

Planning to be at Cray Wanderers v Dulwich on New Year's Day.

I did! I've just got back - it was basically a lovely day out on the booze slightly spoilt by the poor football match and crappy weather (a poor Dulwich lost 1-0 to the Wands). At least you can watch the match from the top of the clubhouse...

I think what Cray Wanderers have done at Flamingo Park is amazing - it's a really good little ground they've built, they're making really good use of the clubhouse building. We went to the Cockpit in the Chislehurst after, where a few of us ended up chatting with the Wands' management team who'd also gone in for a couple of post-match pints. I think they could be onto something really special there.
