  • A decent 3-0 over Hythe Town yesterday and thanks to the Addicks who came along. Moved upto 6th....got a tough games coming up Margate and leaders Ramsgate away.

    Still punching....

  • Was at ebbsfleet, were in the game first half until a silly sending off from a player they just got on loan for a month.

After the first goal which was deflected they just capitulated.

Absolute zero chance of staying up.

Word for the main team from my old stomping ground. FA Trophy at Coleshill, Biggleswade Town were 3-0 down at half time. A six minute hat-trick from Babaie pulled it back to 3-3 then eight minutes later Town took the lead. Coleshill equalised on 84 then the Waders won it in the 91st minute... Phew!

I was at Maidstone for the fa cup match recently and I had hoped that was the low point. Watling (Manager) talked then about using the two week break as a mini pre season. Alas, results have not turned since with 2 poor results at home in the last week.

Whilst 3 managers in a season often spells relegation, I don't see much option, as he just hasn't got them going. As mentioned above a more street wise manager is needed. Talking of Maidstone, I still think that Jay Saunders should be managing at this level. He was unlucky to lose his job there when they were doing ok in the NL.

I was at a function in Gravesend in the evening of that tie. The guy whose party it was is an ebbsfleet fan and went to that game. He said his son and him left on 50 mins and the supporters club had written to the owners to get an explanation of how poor we are.

Some may know him but Paul Harrison who has written books on the club and a lifelong fan is my cousin.

Jay Saunders is managing at that level - Tonbridge Angels.

    That's the division below mate
  • I see Hendon hit 9 today! I remember Niko Muir scoring for fun 6-7 years ago and getting a move to Hartlepool and he got 5 today.

Tonbridge and Maidstone are 13th and 14th in the NL South!

Yes....I had the pleasure of giving Niko his MOTM award yesterday. Hendon were brilliant and Hastings were about as bad as you could get. Niko missed a one-on-one at 0-0 but didn't miss the next five chances!

I think we got about £7,000 when Niko went to Hartlepool. Incredibly for us he was halfway through a two-year contract at the time, hence the fee. That was lucky for us.....no-one else at Hendon had a two-year deal then....or since!

It's a strange league; my last Hendon home game saw us lose 6-1 to Wingate. And a week later we were beaten 5-0 at Hanwell in the FA Trophy. Our current goal difference is now +9.

It was only really the goalie who showed up yesterday. Midfield and defence barely put a challenge in.

But Hastings get crowds that we can only dream of, so should be able to ship out the crap and quickly replace with better.
  • https://youtu.be/zi8auLUKHSA?feature=shared -CAFC, the robins, songs about chips. They are more Charlton than Charlton?
  • Corking own goal in the first 30 seconds of this video of Walton & Hersham against Gloucester City in the Southern League...
     :)

  • This was a team whose players were able to successfully make passes without lifting up their head first. Each one knew where his team mate would be at any given time and boy, was it a pleasure to watch what epitomised The Beautiful Game.

Given that the entire first choice midfield was missing, it was some achievement to see them passing the ball like that! I said on Saturday that I didn't think we would get far with Young and Williams as a partnership, but last night they were absolutely fantastic (as was Jimmy Muitt). Although Hemel were abysmal and got worse with each goal that went in. I felt for the gaffer at the end, he seems like a really nice bloke.

Marc White has got amazing win stats over approaching two decades as manager. And they got relegated from 5th tier last year which must have caned win%. Alas DW seem to be his pet project.
  •  Alas DW seem to be his pet project.
What do you mean by that?
  • Phoenix Sports vice chairman passed away today from cancer. One of the nicest men I’ve ever met. Just 58.

    RIP Housey.
  • its so very sad, Housey was just a great bloke to be around and he was the heartbeat of Phoenix. A legend, he will be sadly missed by many.
I will be at the club at the weekend to pay my respects
    RIP mate 😥

Mate absolutely heartbreaking, it’s been my club since I was u7, and the bloke took the place to the next level. He’s a legend.

Of course it is. He founded the club, played for them and is their current chairman and manager.

There's probably no clearer example anywhere of a club being someones project.

Absolutely gutted when I heard yesterday morning, Steve was as you say the heartbeat of Phoenix, his sense of humour and smile was infectious and yes he will be missed by so many people. It is very rare a customer becomes a friend, but Steve was my friend who when I was going through the difficuties I experienced in my personal life always checked in on me to see if I was ok. I'll see you there tomorrow mate and raise a glass and pay my respects to a top top bloke. RIP Housey
    you will be missed :'(:'(

It was the 'alas' part I was interested in.
  • Things looking even more tricky at Welling

    Squad update – Welling United
  • Blimey.
    Gates down against expectations too.

“We appreciate that Howard and the club have backed us the best they can, but now we have to trim the squad down to a minimum to be able for us to continue to work within the budget that the club can afford.

“Some of that, of course, is due to going out of the FA Cup and FA Trophy early and, unfortunately, the gates have not been what we may have  predicted this season.

“Obviously from my point of view, and the staff, we didn’t want this to happen – but we’ve had to look at the overload of midfielders.... etc
