  • Saturday 6th September - Dulwich Hamlet v Hampton & Richmond Borough - 3pm
    Conversation Liam Hickey

    Dear Hamlet fan,

In case you are not aware this coming Saturday, at home to Hampton & Richmond Borough, is 'Non League Day'.

We have designated this a 'Pay What You Like' Day...and are hoping for a record crowd, to beat the attendance at our current ground of 1,835 against Southport, back in 1998.

We are hoping to raise enough extra money to make a donation to the Mayor of Southwark's chosen charities, two working with the homeless: The Robes Project & UK Homes 4 Heroes.

For the day to be a success we are politely requesting that our most loyal & regular fans donate their normal admission on the gate, so that ordinary matchday costs, like players wages are covered, & that we can then donate extra raised to charities.

Anyone can, of course, give as much or as little, as they like, so please spread the word with your family, friends & work colleagues; as we try to make it a successful bumper day.

There is much, much more going on around the game, so please keep on checking the website to be kept up to date.

    Thank you.
  • Bromley v Chelmsford for me on Non League Day.

Bromley are doing a carvery for £8 on the day - you have to book ahead though.

Football Legaue ST holders are getting in half price.
  • Not sure about Saturday but I am at Hamlet tomorrow
  • Saw Hamlet v Margate last night excellent entertainment. Having been played out of the game for 20 mins Hamlet went 1-0 down after that they worked their way back in the game and equalisd in the 55th minute. Ex Charlton youth but now 37 Jamie Stuart came on for Margate. With the penultimate kick of the game the 800 plus crowd saw Hamlet break Margates unbeaten record scoring their 2nd.

Was also there. Considering the money they're paying their players, Margate were very average.

I thought they started really well, but after the goal it really became all Hamlet. no idea what wages are in Non League. Shame I cannot get to the game on Saturday.

Clubs like Ebbsfleet, Bromley and Margate are desperate to move up and are paying £600-900 a week for players. It's gone a bit nuts really.

Considering what happened to Salisbury and Hereford last season, theer's a huge level of irresponsibility in paying a level of wages the clubs cannot support. I used to feel sorry for clubs who went under (and I still feel for the fans) but really, there seems no limit to the stupidity of some owners. Admitedly, Ebbsfleet and Margate have rich owners, but other clubs have gone down this road, and at non league level, it always goes the same way. The old Mark Hulyer addage about owning a football club being like standing upside down over a drain shaking your pockets to make the money fall out, can be multiplied by ten at non league level.

  • Will be at Bromley Fc today as I am sponsoring the game today.

There is a family fun day there with half price entry to Cafc season ticket holders.

Also my 8 year old is the mascot who will be walking out in his CAFC kit....

Bromley have no children's kits, so mascots go out in any kit of their choice. Not that unusual for non league teams....

  • Off to Woking v Lincoln later. Looking forward to it - makes me appreciate even more what a great ground and team we have, relatively speaking!
  • kids dressed in their kits of choice is fine with me at non league games. what does bug me, (well, more something I just don't get) is adults going along wearing a piece of kit from their team. At Ebbsfleet you see grown men wearing clothing from spurs or Chelsea, (I even saw some bloke wearing a palace hat) or from whatever team they follow. It's a bit disrespectful and I can't see why they do it. unless they own nothing else to wear. strange.
  • There is a guy who goes to Dulwhich who wears a Charlton jacket. Don't have problem with it, also palace gear. For many fans it's a second team
  • Enfield vs maidstone today for me and my clan
  • Ebbsfleet vs St Albans for me. Ebbsfleet have spent big in the summer & have been poor recently, I really think Steve Brown's job is on the line so need a win today
  • There's usually a mixture of Charlton and Millwall hats and shirts at Welling games, don't think anyones arsed really
  • I'm at southern league premier division match Biggleswade Town v St Neots Town - about 400 here. Half time 1-1
  • Woking 2 Lncoln 0 at half time. Some decent football from Woking too. One decent stand, some ramshackle fire traps and low terracing make up the other sides. Posh local crowd!

    Finished 3-1. Good game.

Finished 2-2 St Neots down to 9 men. Biggleswade missed a 95th minute penalty
