As Sean Lock said on 8 out of 10 cats. If he's for revolution and raging against capitalism, he should be giving the book away, not selling it ! Another case of do as I say, not as I do.

I like the comedian Russell Brand. I enjoyed Ponderland, saw him at the O2 and have read the first two of his books.
That said, this side of him isn't funny, or even thought provoking, it's just irritating. Like that teenager at school who used to get bullied, and then he started to think he knew the ways of the world because he happened to have read something a little "edgey". He then begins trying to lecture everyone, when in fact all that happens is he gets bullied some more and he believes it's because he's better than everyone else.. And so the vicious cycle continues.
Russell Brand really is a valuable chap though, and if he put down the revolutionary fancy dress for just one moment then perhaps he could discuss things where his experience would be of value.
Let's not forget this whole silly saga began with him getting involved in the drug debate, the press gave him some attention because he gave a realistic point of view that was grounded in experience. He seems to crave that attention (which is fairly obvious anyway) and has obviously realised that by misusing words with multiple syllables and pretending that he's some form of intellectual revolutionary he can continue to get that attention...
Ironic really, that's a strikingly similar tale in comparison to the very thing he's supposedly fighting against.
i think i said earlier in the thread, but im convinced this political activism and apparent need for the spotlight and a jesus complex is his addiction manifesting itself. I wouldn't be surprised, unfortunately, if the spotlight is removed he'll suffer a form of relapse. A lot of recovering addicts use their addiction to help others and become drug councillors and so they can say, when they fancy some smack on a nice sunday "If i relapse, no one will be there to help John with his addiction". I'm not saying russell doesnt already do all that, but this "I am leading a revolution" must give him the same sort of satisfaction as heroin and chasing women gives him.
Despite his crazy views i do agree with him about drug addiction, as you say Lucky, he should stick to that.
Good spot Seth. Yet I loved Rik and can't stand Brand. I suppose it's because they were both jokers, but one was a character written to be a joker and the other one is a complete joke, without knowing it :-)
next week's Question Time is definitely a Christmas Special and not one to miss for those who like their politics noisy and vitriolic, albeit in a pantomime format .. Nigel Farage and Russell Brand are two of the panellists .. Not sure if I will watch or not .. the mere sight of Brand might induce me to smash my expensive TV to smithereens in rage and apoplexy .. I cannot stand the charlatan little s**t ((:>)
With Farage AND Brand it will be pointless circus of pomposity and posturing in which Farage will do his best to sound middle of the road normal and Brand will do his best to sound a revolutionary iconoclast. Fuck all will be revealed.
Neither will engage in the kind of discourse where people listen to each other, and to and fro over the actual conversation. Both will deliver tirades of some form or another in a rather charmless fashion, whilst they both think they are doing brilliantly and 'winning'.
Russell brand claims all news have an agenda and aren't telling the truth... in his videos on the youtube account he controls that he calls "The Trews" ... the bloke's the biggest hypocrite bellend.
He does raise some good points, especially regarding the Sun. Shame it's surrounded by craps jokes thougth. He's also evidence that being rich or poor isn't based on whether you were bon rich or poor.
Well - newspapers should be done under the trades descriptions act. They are just a branch of the entertainments industry as informative and enlightening as Alan Carr, Jeremy Kyle or Brand himself. Which is fine, but pretending they are news makes them dangerous. Thank god the "normal" person in the street knows this at a gut level. Unfortunately the political uberclass don't acknowledge this and are running scared - it's pathetic - it's like a bunch of incredibly privileged, expensively educated administrators are having their actions dictated by X Factor.
The only people being put in their place are the Labour and especially Conservative representatives. That fella in the front row was shouting a lot at Brand but he hardly put him in his place. In fact, following twitter, a lot of people are changing their opinion of him tonight.
The only person that has been on Question Time more than Nigel Farage since 2009 is David Dimbleby. That seems like fair representation from a state broadcaster to me......
I love how brand said that farage was using fear and 30 seconds later says "I know where all the power is with and it's with the big scary faceless corporations".
